Wow! I was going watching the videos to pull up my 700sq ft of ceramic to install luxury vinyl, and thinking no way was it worth it. You have saved me. I'm ready to do it this way. Amazing! Thank you so much.❤❤❤❤
I am getting conflicting information about cork vs rubber backed Vinyl Core flooring needing an underlayment. I will be installing a 6.5mm rigid core plank with Cork back over 800 sq ft of tile and I would like to avoid putting underlayment if it is not necessary. I see you installed a cork back right over tile with grout lines thicker than 1/4 wide. Your comments in the video around the core backing answered my question around needing to float a filler to avoid translation of grout lines over time. I would not expect grout lines to translate through a thicker core floor as they would a flimsy vinyl product. This is the answer I have been searching for. I find your videos very informative and am grateful for the time you take in explaining everything. Thank you so much!
I am a sales person for flooring, vinyl plank, laminate, carpet, tile, etc. I have installed vinyl plank and laminate before. Also, I actually build displays for the flooring I sell. I will say this, you pay for what you get. The more expensive the plank, the easier it is to put together and the better quality you are going to get. For example, his flooring tells you how many feet you can go before you need a transition, all flooring is different. Make sure you read the box on any flooring you are thinking of getting, that is information right from the manufacturer and it usually tells you all about the flooring. For example, length before a transition, whether it's three-seasons ready, maximum tempatures, etc. Do your research on any flooring and the methods of installation before you buy, it will save you lots of time and money. I have ran into many people that are mad and they say vinyl plank is junk but when I ask what happened, it usually is because they got into a hurry and didn't properly install the flooring. And if you aren't sure you are doing something right, ask questions, watch videos like this, Jeff is pretty good at what he does and has quite a few great tips on every project you are thinking of doing.

@@HomeRenoVisionDIY how can I transition from an existing tile wall to a luxury vinyl plank flooring? My project is in a bathroom so the tile wall is already in place and I don't want to redo it... Thanks in advance for your help!
Awesome video! One thing to point out about going directly over tile with a SPC core is to make sure the brand you bought will maintain the warranty if you go over a tile floor without patching first. Majority of Luxury Vinyl Planks with a SPC Core still require you to do a light patch over the entire tile floor for 2 main reasons: 1. The grout line CAN transfer through a SPC core it just takes a much longer time for it to happen 2. Most Tile floor over the years becomes slightly uneven and cracking which could cause structural issues within the floor which a lot of manufactures wont honour their warranty if the floor underneath isn't is really really good condition. But that being said, a light patch over a tile floor only takes a few minutes to do and a few hours to dry depending on how deep the grout likes are so it can still be done in an afternoon. Been an installer for many years and have also worked along side multiple reps that handle insurance claims for manufactures and these are the 2 main things i see often
Agreed I have 7+ years as a floor installer, always skim coat the tile floor with feather finish. I like to use a floor bonding primer (diluted) mixed with the feather finish cuts drying time significantly and increases strength of the leveling.
I have a ceramic tile cracking in a depression, considering pouring leveler and covering with lvp. With the subfloor still uneven though that tile will continue to crack and that will translate up through anything leveler and anything covering it I am afraid.
Your videos are excellent, as a serious DIYer, can recommend your content to any DIYer as some of the best out here. As a "Safety Second" guy, suggest lowing the saw blade height to just above the thickness of the material you are cutting. This could be the difference between a laceration and amputation.
Home Depot’s Lifeproof works like a charm over tile. Renovated a basement that was mostly vinyl tiles except for a laundry room which had porcelain tile. Didn’t want to try to bust it up. Lifeproof is very stable over the porcelain and contributes a lot, for a relatively modest price, to the overall look. My one complaint with Lifeproof is that the tongues are not the strongest and will break off if you’re not careful or try to reposition it. I put Pergo on the first floor which has a more refined look than Lifeproof at a similar price. But no way was I going to put Pergo in the basement because of its . They each have their quirks.
Jeff, you're amazing! Helped me a lot when I just got here in USA. As a professional installer now, I recommend the people get a mixed pattern to lay the lines (different from that you used on the video - with a lot of "H" in the lines). And yes, doorjambs are the worst part for an installer, but you could install the piece easily between these doorjambs using your tapping block and a pull bar. It's impossible just if the piece needs to cover the 2 areas with a "C" shape. Not agreed with all information in the video but you're excellent as always. Thanks for teaching us.
Love this video!! I put lifeproof vinyl over existing hideous green tile 4 years ago instead of re-tiling and it saved me soooo much time and money and it still looks incredible! LVP has been a lifesaver 🙌 ( and so much easier to clean then tile as well 💯)

Use blue painters tape on the bottom of the door before using the saw. Most saws have an aluminum base and leave black marks on the door paint. Using a 4’ clamp can help you make a straight cut
I'm a fan of not cutting 1/2 or 1/3 plank but using the run's end cutoff as the start of a new row (if at least a quarter, or I'll cut a third), this way you don't get those artificial matching seam lines you have, but more irregular.
That works until you find yourself in a room that’s only 1 or 2 inches short of 3 planks, for example. The look of every plank being only an inch apart is awful. I ran into this issue recently and you end up just having to cut a new starter piece every so often when you run out of cut off ends that will look good.
you should also go through all of the boxes you purchased and sort the different grain patterns into different piles. Try not to put the same grain patterns next to each other.
Thanks for another great video. For me without a doubt the most difficult part of a very smooth installation with vinyl plank floor is cutting the last plank for a very un-square room.

Very simple solution to the grout lines showing through. They make a product that takes a very short time to fill in the grout lines that dries quickly. Never have to worry about the grout lines again.
Do you have to do the whole floor with self leveling compound or can you just fill in the grout? I heard only the whole floor. I don't have the luxury of leaving my house for it to dry. Do you know?
Looks good! A little bit of advice..If you put the seam anywhere in the middle of the door you could put a piece in each way under the jam …the way you did it screams noob…also you want to stager your pieces at least 3 times before repeating…
You said people watch videos that give "bad information" and you didn't read the directions! NUMBER ONE TIP: READ THE BOX! One tip you might like. In the doorway you attached the reducer to the vinyl, if you have a toilet overflow the water will run right under your floor. Our local DIY store does 'how to' videos. Seriously, your videos have so much more content and easy to follow along instructions. You're my new go to👍. Thank you so much😁
Jeff is really good at this and he knows how to be real safe but I dont suggest using that table saw without the gaurd. Its best to just use jig saw. Jeffs hands was like 1 ruler away from getting chopped texas chainsaw style. If you are new, its really dangerous because you might slip while moving the board and lose your hands. Its just not worth it. Just take the longer route and use the jigsaw otherwise risk your hands.
Epic!! I’m laying flooring like this in a couple weeks. First time in this style so hopefully all goes well. You definitely make it look easy which gives me more confidence 🙌🏼💪🏼💫
Awesome video . Super detailed. You're the real deal. Thanks for the instructional video. Lots of simple things the average person may overlook. Thanks for all the tips

I’m going over title so very helpful video. Thank you. One question, I practice feng shui and want to not start on the longest wall. How bad would that be? Thank you
Use a type of mortar to float out the dips. I'd go ask a person at your local flooring store for a specific mortar/thinset/level compound as products vary by region.
Little pro tip. Score and tape doors prior to trimming. I se you used a dummy but if you actually cut the door in video which was nicely painted. Tape and score a must. I love your videos and know u know. However not all watching do. And I wouldn’t worry about “next install”
We have an open floor plan kitchen that transistions from tile to carpet. What's a good way to deal with that transition if you're installing vinyl over tile?
Being a DIYer myself, I would Mark the bottom of the door trim, remove it, cut it, put the flooring down then put the trim over it. I would rather not worry about complicated cuts that could result in either a crappy finished look or needing to use another piece of material...no measure, cut, test fit...measure, cut, test fit...etc...
Couple of questions. Does it matter if you are going over a shotty tile job (cracked tile, hollow/not connecting well to cement)? How do you transition to carpet? How do you pick which way to go if you have long skinny runs going both directions from the same room? (Kitchen going east to west and hall way going north and south)
Great Video Jeff and we had an "Atmospheric Rain Event" and will be doing the Vinyl planks Interesting about the VPC&SPC specs and that's a catch for folks who are going on price alone Stores don't mention that! Many thanks for your explanations Cheers Frank
Great video, love your Content,I usually start flush with the door opening when possible, that makes it a little easier having to slide the vinyl under one side ,but I saw where your grout line made that not possible on the first piece ,GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
great videos! one thing though, when installing hardwood looking flooring, running lengthwise is second to running against the joists, the same direction as real hardwood. otherwise it looks odd walking into the front door of a house and seeing the wood comming toward you. It sticks out like a sore thumb imo.

Jig saw or band saw for door jam or jagged cuts are friendly tools designed to handle the job.
Our local DIY store does 'how to' videos. Seriously, your videos have so much more content and easy to follow along instructions. You're my new go to👍. Thank you so much😁
Wow, thank you!
i like to use a little all purpose axle grease on the door pins. This will help them slide in easy, and stop any squeaks
Chris how did you make out
How did it go?
Awesome video . Super detailed. You're the real deal. Thanks for the instructional video. Lots of simple things the average person may overlook. Thanks for all the tips
FANTASTIC display of workmanship I’m not doing this anytime soon at my home but i’m sure there are plenty of folks driving to the home improvement store
use ardex floor patch for leveling very smooth product and dries in about an hour if your tiles are not even its a great product to use
I pick up so many tips from you. Also I get confirmation on some of my work habits.
Cheers!
The bomb!!!! Great demonstration
Use a drimmel tool to get the detail of the trim. Easiest and quickest method.
Good suggestion.
Hi, really learn things from you video.
Don't have a table saw. Can use a jig saw for the detail cutting for the door frame?
Love all your Chanel no loud noise in the background plus you take your time and explain 👍💯✋️😎
If you’re adding this over a tile that’s on a slab, do you recommend a vapor barrier first?
"always blow your joints when you're working" LOL - solid advice!
Cheers!
Jeff freestyling that cut on a table saw is wild 😅
They now have such beautiful luxury vinyl that even has gloss. That goes over your old tile and looks amazing.
Thank you Jeff, as usual PERFECT VIDEO. EDUCATED VIDEO. God bless
Cheers!
I think I would have patched all the tile grout lines first with some webcrete just my opinion cheap and easy.
I’m going over title so very helpful video. Thank you.
One question, I practice feng shui and want to not start on the longest wall. How bad would that be? Thank you
Hey Jeff I have very uneven tiles and was wondering what I should do to level the tiles?
Use a type of mortar to float out the dips. I'd go ask a person at your local flooring store for a specific mortar/thinset/level compound as products vary by region.
Love your work brother! Thanks!
Cheers!
Little pro tip. Score and tape doors prior to trimming. I se you used a dummy but if you actually cut the door in video which was nicely painted. Tape and score a must. I love your videos and know u know. However not all watching do. And I wouldn’t worry about “next install”
ty boss/gonna try this. make momma happy
Cheers to a happy wife!
Do a video on ripping out a ceiling and installing vault ceiling and skylights
We have an open floor plan kitchen that transistions from tile to carpet. What's a good way to deal with that transition if you're installing vinyl over tile?
Thank you for tip… I honestly feel more I learned so much ❤
Thank you very much I plan to put new floor on tile
You are welcome
LL Flooring sells rigid LVP with IXPE pad, it's quality flooring.
Do you need a pad under vinyl floor like you use on vinyl hardwood
Being a DIYer myself, I would Mark the bottom of the door trim, remove it, cut it, put the flooring down then put the trim over it. I would rather not worry about complicated cuts that could result in either a crappy finished look or needing to use another piece of material...no measure, cut, test fit...measure, cut, test fit...etc...
Thanks for a good and detailed video!
Thank you very much for this great instruction video !
I have floor heating. What kind of (klick) PVC do I need that is suitable ?
Couple of questions. Does it matter if you are going over a shotty tile job (cracked tile, hollow/not connecting well to cement)?
How do you transition to carpet?
How do you pick which way to go if you have long skinny runs going both directions from the same room? (Kitchen going east to west and hall way going north and south)
literally my exact same questions
I’d like to know these aswell
Great Video Jeff and we had an "Atmospheric Rain Event" and will be doing the Vinyl planks
Interesting about the VPC&SPC specs and that's a catch for folks who are going on price alone
Stores don't mention that!
Many thanks for your explanations
Cheers
Frank
I am the first! I love your videos. Perfect timing, I am doing my floor this weekend!
You got this! Cheers!
Great video, love your Content,I usually start flush with the door opening when possible, that makes it a little easier having to slide the vinyl under one side ,but I saw where your grout line made that not possible on the first piece ,GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Thank you very helpful!!
Cheers!
These are fantastic videos Jeff - thanks!
great videos! one thing though, when installing hardwood looking flooring, running lengthwise is second to running against the joists, the same direction as real hardwood. otherwise it looks odd walking into the front door of a house and seeing the wood comming toward you. It sticks out like a sore thumb imo.
Love your videos. Excellent no nonsense tips. This one was extremely helpful.
