Home Free was founded 20 years ago in college by the beatboxer Adam Rupp and his brother Chris. Adam was a trumpet player and his brother Chris was a music major. Austin, the lead here, was classically trained, Rob with glasses was a music major. Tim the bass just grew up singing in choirs and not sure he was a music major but has been a singer for a long time. Both Home Free and Pentatonix were on the NBC show the Sing Off and both won their seasons and are friends. Home Free is a country band but they can sing any genre of music. Try How Great Thou Art, O Holy Night, Helplessly Hoping, to hear incredible harmonies. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own stuff. Good reaction.

Home Free is amazing & is the REAL DEAL. They are the only known country-leaning Acapella all vocal band, however, they sing all genre's of music and have the videos to prove it. 4 of the 5 members of Home Free do have college degrees in Music Theory. They are not "country bumpkins", but are true professional musicians. They also do not take themselves too seriously, but have some very comedic videos. My suggestions to follow up on are : Auld Lang Syne, Land of the Free (an original), (bye bye Miss) American Pie (featuring Don McLean the writer & original singer), Meet in the Middle (one of their 1st quarantine videos, but filmed cleverly with cell phones, and editing masterpiece), End of the Road (Boyz2Men classic), Spaceship (you can see them do a little hip-hop), and a collab With Peter Hollens on a U2 cover of "Still haven't found what I'm looking for"...Enjoy the fall down the Home Free rabbit hole.

Combined, their total vocal range, along with the overlap in ranges is sick. Allows them to do thing you rarely hear. Plus Adam Rupp swallowed a full drum kit, percussion section and plenty of other instruments too.

Side note: EVERYbody should check out any and all YT clips of the Sing Off, not just of groups who became superstars. Their opening numbers, with the combined groups doing choral versions of pop songs, are stunning. Four and a half seasons, 8 shows each, dozens of groups! Dont get me started on the costuming budget.

Did Voiceplay really have their big break on the Sing Off? They didn't get that far and honestly they weren't that good back then, they've improved monstrously since. Eli was good back then, but the others weren't anywhere near their current level.

Wow. You on this thread started by philherman8633 are some of the rudest people if seen on a reaction video. This was a reaction to Home Free, not to voice play, yet that's who you talk about the whole time, and that's who you tell to listen to. When you comment on a reaction video created and performed by one group you don't blow over tgem and talk about another group. FTI, Home Free won season four of the sing off and voice play failed to make the finals.

They have a really strong comedic side as well as faith.

Great reaction! New subscriber, came for Homefree. Yep, im a Homefry! I see that my fellow Homefries gave you info on our guys! I will say these 5 guys are the most talented guys in music! They are fun, talented and down to earth. The kind of guys you wanna hang out with. They love what they do and they love their fans! They do all genres of music. They do serious songs and tackle social issues like in their cover of " Everybody walking this Land" if you react to this please watch message at the end of song. or " One Voice featuring Billy Gilman( the original artist). and they also know how to not take themselves too serious as evident in their original "Butts Medley" or their cover of " All about that bass". They do country like " Take me home Country Roads" and R&B like "Thinking out Loud/ Lets get it on". Pop like "Cant stop the feeling". They have a huge catalog of music to choose from, all of which are phenomenal. And us Homefries as you can tell love all of it! Thank you for your reaction and i hope you do more Homefree!🙂 Have a fantastic day!

5:45 Home Free have been around for right around 20 years, but they got big when they won the Sing Off a number of years ago. They consider themselves a country group, but they are a lot more than just country. Its less that they're a country group and more that they add a country _flair_ to their music regardless of the genre. Austin Brown, the guy who started the song has some musical theater and operatic stuff in his background as well.

Welcome to the "Rabbit Hole" that is Home Free. Formed in 2000 They have had several changes in line-up over the years but current line-up is by far my favorite.
Adam Rupp - Beat boxer and only founding member left. Tim Foust - Bass, Baritone, Tenor - yes 5+ octave range. He was the low notes in this song. Austin Brown - high tenor, trained to the stage but always a country boy at heart. He wanted to be part of a group and fit right in. Rob Lundquist - Lead Tenor and one extremely versatile singer. I swear he can sing any style of music out there. And Adam Chance - Baritone, he was making the "Jew's Harp" sound. Another country boy that can get nearly as low as Tim and will often trade slots with him.

Bass Tim Foust is from Texas, and has been part of the group since 2010. Tenor Austin Brown, a Georgian, came aboard in 2012. Oh, they are the country/rock/gospel version of Pentatonix. They do more comedy than Pentatonix (Champagne Tastes, Butts Remix for starters) but can also deliver tearjerkers. They have been doing a cappella for 20+ years - doing a lot of state fairs circuits and stuff, I think. They started in Minnesota. The group has changed a few members over the years, but I think the beatboxer, Adam Rupp, was one of the founding members. Adam Chance, baritone/bass back up, is the newest member. Tim Foust, butt shaking bass, is a force of nature. Austin Brown was the lead tenor for this song (and could give Mitch a run for his money) and Rob Lindquist (killer beard) is the other tenor. They take turns singing lead just like Pentatonix. Home Free won the sing-off season 4, right after Pentatonix won season 3. They also haven't sung a bad song. :o)

'Folsom Prison Blues' is a great one. And two that you should definitely react to but maybe wait until you get a good feel of who they are, and their skills, are 'Mayday' and 'Snow Globe.' the latter is an original song written by Tim, their bass, and I think it's VERY underrated. And for another single that's also written by Tim, but also more goofy, is 'Champagne Taste (on a beer budget)'
Anyways, I really enjoyed your reaction and you should know that Home Free are really supportive of reaction channels, and I doubt you'll have a problem with copyright or anything like that. Austin, the lead vocalist in their cover of 'Man of Constant Sorrow,' has even sent a couple personal messages to a few react channels thanking them for reacting. He seems really genuine. They all do.

Pentatonix won Season 3 of The Sing Off, and Home Free won Season 4. Home Free showed their Country Acapella in the competition but they cross over to R&B, Reggae and pop. They also sing a lot of anthems.

Home Free has been around a lot longer than Pentatonix. Originally, they did a lot of different pop, jazz, and some country. In the late 2000 they landed their super bass, Tim Foust. He had been a solo county artist, and with his addition, Home Free became much more of a country A Capella band. The vast majority of their music is country, with a modern twist. Most of their other songs have that country twang anyway. Tim Foust is the super deep bass you heard. Adam Rupp (the only original member left, and co-founder) is the best beat boxer on the planet who did the harmonica. He also sings tenor harmonies when they don't do a rhythm section. Adam Chance (just Chance for short), is the guy that did the "juice harp" sound throughout and sings the bass line whenever Tim takes leads. Their 2 tenors are Rob Lundquist (heavy black beard) and Austin Brown (voice like butter according to Shawn Stockman from Boys to Men during The Sing Off)

You'll be getting a lot of requests for these guys now that you've done one, but I strongly suggest waiting to do their cover of 'Mayday' by CAM until you know them better. They have a surprise in that video that goes right over the heads of people who are new to the group. I would say do at least 3 or 4 other videos from them before doing Mayday. I recommend their covers of 'Some Girls Do', 'Die A Happy Man', 'Thank God I'ma Country Boy' and their original songs, 'Champaign Taste On A Beer Budget' and 'Why Not'. There are plenty of other great songs, but those are some of my favorites.

Other acapella styles to appreciate: Swingle Singers (vocal classical), Street Corner Symphony (also SingOff, very fun), Peter Hollens (collaborates, see his Commencement Address), Groove for Thought (disbanded, see Spain and In the Dark Midwinter ?). Also search TH-cam for acapella multitrack (single people doing all parts).

Great reaction! Try their Ring of Fire with Avi, it’s awesome. Others have commented to listen to VoicePlay, I agree. They recently did a cover of that Viking song … wow! Newly subscribed to your channel thank you for this the homefries cheer! Oh, there are videos of Tim ( home free deep voice but does more) blowing speakers on stage live when he goes low. Crazy…but… I think I side with Geoff from VoicePlay for depth of range. His blackbird cover is incredible.

The top 3 acapella groups atm (in my opinion) are Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play. All three groups are made up of childhood friends who found the other couple of members who round out their sounds. HF and VP members have done arrangements for each other, and all three first made impact on the NBC show The Sing Off. Must See Tracks from each...
HF: How Great Thou Art, The Butts Medley, Elvira and American Pie
VP: My Mother Told Me, The Little Mermaid Medley, Oogie Boogies Song and Queen in 5 Minutes
PTX: Sound Of Silence, Daft Punk Medley, Amazing Grace, Imagine and Coffee In Bed

Home Free started back in 2000 by Chris Rupp and his brother Adam who is the beatboxer. But the group has changed people throughout the years. The only original left from the beginning is the beatboxer Adam. The group is the first and only country acappela group. The group now consists of Austin Brown sky high tenor (started the song), Rob Lundquist lead tenor (second to sing), Tim Foust the bass that has a 5 octave range, Adam Chance the baritone back left (also can sing bass) who goes by Chance and Adam Rupp. Enjoyed watching your first time reaction to them.

This group has perhaps the best Beat Boxer in the world, Adam Rupp! And then they have Chance who covers the beat box and the bass when the Adam and Tim Foust (bass) are soloing. Home Free has been a group for over 20 years...they started as a Church/Country Acapella group. But they do a little of everything now. They won the Sing Off the year after Pentatonix won the same show. HF and Pentatonix members are good friends.

Impressive analysis. You caught a lot more than the average. You know your music! HF does everything. Tim even adds aspects of opera with his runs in Ring of Fire. Each cover they do they mimic the style of the author like Johnny Cash or Back Street boys, but add their own country twist. They also do so many tribute and cooperative tunes. American Pie is masterful. They literally let the author sing his melody and filled in around him. Other favorites are Ald Lang Syne, How Great Thou Art and Misty Mountains, but honestly everything they do is perfection.

Molly, I've listened to a lot of reactions to Home Free-Man of Constant Sorrow because I love the song. I really like yours. First, you're genuine. You're just you. In other words, you don't try to know more than they do. You just react. Second, you listen to everyone. That's huge, you're not just focused on one thing. Last, maybe least, you're cute but not stupid. You seem to have some common sense. I like that. Hope you get it. Just saying. One last thing, I'm happily married for 43 years. No come on from this direction. Have a great day. Mark

Okay this is my third message!
But you asked for background and such!
So I'll send you another message after this too because you need to React to more Home Free but you'll need to know there names!
    Home Free is:
Earlier Years Chris Rupp (usually wearing a Cowboy Hat & always smiling) and Adam Rupp, the Beatboxer founded the Group. Chris went Solo in 2016 with which he is doing Very Well!
Adam Chance who goes by Chance was brought in to replace Chris!
Chance is the Baritone that has a 4 Octave Range.
He can replace Tim, the Group's Bassist when needed as Chance was the Bassist in his previous Group before Home Free.
Back to Adam Rupp, he's the incredibly talented Beatboxer and can sing well too!
His Beatboxing is above and beyond any other Beatboxer that I have seen!
He's also won several Beatboxing Championships to boot!😁😁
Now to Tim, the Group's Bassist has a 5 Octave Range so he can Lead the Group as a Bassist or a Tenor or something in between!
He's Phenomenal and he's also taught some other Bassists from other Acapella Group's to be able to do certain things that allow them to get Lower and hit Notes they weren't able to before now.
The Bearded Singer is the Group's Tenor and he is Awesome!
Such a Creamy Tone and at times his Range is incredible too!
To end the Group's Members is Austin the Group's High Tenor.
    This man is unbelievable!
He can hit the highest of the highest of notes and he still can do Low Notes almost Baritone standards!
Now hopefully you can get caught up with the Group's Members!
