Home Free is a great "Rabbit hole" to dive into. They have a huge catalog of youtube videos that cover many genre's . They are not a "one trick pony." haha. Enjoy, and thank you for reacting to Home Free.
Love how you didn't stop the video but put your thoughts across the screen. Some people stop the video way to much. OMG...I live how Tim stares into a person's soul! Lol!
Home Free is so good. You’re one of the few reactors who noticed Tim going lower after his solo. This song is over 100 years old but was made popular in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. Adam, the beatboxer, is amazing and was doing the drums, harmonica and other sounds. Chance the singer at the end was doing the mouth harp, which sounds like a didgeridoo. It’s an instrument that is popular in country/blue grass songs. Austin, the lead here is the high tenor but can yodel and do harmonica and some other sounds. Rob with the glasses is a tenor. They are all so talented. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix. I think they are both the most talented “a cappella” groups out there. Great reaction Sabina! They sing country but can sing all genres. Try Helplessly Hoping, I Can’t Outrun You, Die a Happy Man to hear more great harmonies.
There's LOTS MORE to explore! The only mistake you can make is listening to their cover of "Mayday" (by Cam) too soon. In order to get maximum enjoyment from this great performance, you need to know all the guys and their voices. Between this and "Misty Mountains", you know Tim Foust. In live performances, he breaks things with his voice. Speaker blow-outs are "normal" and once he brought down the roof (a chunk of ceiling rattled loose and crashed onto the stage!) Austin Brown sang the lead on this one. He's HF's high tenor. He was great in this, but even better in their Valentine's Day release of "When a Man Loves a Woman" -- a cover of the 1966 hit by Percy Sledge. Rob Lundquist is the other tenor. You heard a sample of his voice here, but he really shines in their cover of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road." Adam Chance (baritone) did the jew's harp sound in this performance, but not a solo. He has a great voice, and you get to know him in "American Pie", "Cover Me Up", "The Gambler", and "Some Girls Do"...just to name a few. Adam Chance goes by "Chance" in the group, in order to avoid confusion with the beat boxer Adam Rupp. Adam is an original member of HF, and his beat boxing and sound effects (like the harmonica-free harmonica) are stellar! You hear him throughout almost every HF performance, but in their live concerts, he does "drum solos." Two excellent "drum solo" videos are posted outside HF's YT channel, so you have to know where to find them. This one is from 2015 ( th-cam.com/video/EanKWLUaDpg/w-d-xo.html ) and this one was recorded in 2019 ( th-cam.com/video/YIwBjIZhug0/w-d-xo.html ). Both are good -- without too much duplication.

I appreciate the fact that you didn’t constantly stop the song and saved your verbal reaction until the end. Your facial expressions said more than words ever could:-)
I love watching ladies' reactions to Tim's deep bass...gets them every time, and always makes me jealous. I'm just a normal bass, not a basso profondo :( I love the meshing of multiple styles of American country singing from different eras. What a masterpiece.

I've seen them do this live in concert. The harmonica sound is exceptional and all vocal, many do not believe. The bass shakes the whole venue too, the ground shakes and the soundwaves go through you.

The voice you admired so much belongs to tenor Austin Brown. Take a listen to Home Free's cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman". Austin takes the lead on this one ad it is just fantastic.
This video was filmed at Oak Hollow Farm in Fairhope, Alabama, near Mobile bay. I’ve actually visited this farm and it is beautiful. I enjoyed your reaction to the Home Free cover of this 1913 American folk song classic.
That's a jaw harp, not a didgeridoo, that Adam Chance (dark vest) is simulating with Tibetan throat singing! He's a baritone, which is kind of the sweet spot for harmonic overtone singing. The "harmonica" work by Adam Rupp was so good! He also did the record crackle at the beginning. And the "drum kit". Great reaction. You can hear more of Austin's high tenor in When A Man Loves A Woman. Chance has a great first-ish lead in their collaboration with Don McLean in the remake of American Pie. Don of course gets the first lead. They do a John Denver song with Country Roads. They have been doing some real tear-jerkers lately with Go Rest High On That Mountain and The Travelin' Soldier. A sailor song combo with Sea Shanty Medley! How Great Thou Art is in full 5 part harmony with no beatboxing. The chord structure in those old hymns are so solid. They do a number of pop songs. One of them is Ed Sheeran's "Castle On The Hill". I also like their sense of humor. Moonshine is one of their mildly humorous ones and Butts Remix kind of goes over the edge.
@@bigdream_dreambig Yeah, that was Adam Rupp. I think the little frequency drop in the last half second was engineering. That, EQ and compression are all the effects that I know of. They do some layering because obviously Adam Rupp can't do "drums" and "harmonica" at the same time. And Chance can't sing the baritone part while also doing the jaw harp sound with harmonic overtones. They do most of the studio layering in concert by using loopers.
Welcome to Home Free! If you want to check out Austin (tenor and the one you mentioned with great control, etc) then I would say do their version of When A Man Loves a Woman! Austin KILLS it! And he does a cover of Unchained Melody under his name Austin Brown! For all of Home Free: Ring of Fire (feat Avi Kaplan who you know from PTX). Watch out for EPIC low notes. Also, do their cover of Cam's Mayday (be prepared for some holy cow are they really switching it up?) Tim's range is phenomenal! I would say for a good laugh do their Never Gonna Give You Up cover. They do a fantastic The End of The Road cover of Boyz II Men! And they team up with Oak Ridge Boys for Elvira (fantastic cohesion and mixing the old and new!)
I very much enjoyed your reaction and thoughtful appreciation. One of my favorite parts was that little bit just after the song ended where you were a bit speechless for a moment -- that was about how I felt the first time I saw this video. Thanks!
I've watched many vocalists and vocal coaches that have done reactions to this song, and very few have pointed out the basso profundo notes Tim hits after his solo. Well done!
I love the accapella groups. On Friday I'm going on holiday with my sisters and brothers. My brother and my birthday are celebrated there and yes, Pentatonix and Home Free CDs are also coming along. It's a good thing our holiday home stands alone, no neighbors, so we can sing along loudly hahahaha . Gr. from The Netherlands
Hello Sabina. I just saw your comment about a track. They stress that everything is LIVE and Acapella. They don't pretend to sing, they actually do sing live. I am surprised it took you this long to check them out. They are actually the first Acapella group I listened to. And this was the first song. Their beatboxer, Adam Rupp has won the championships twice so far. I suggest you and Henri check out a lot more of their songs. They have a recent one titled Home Free Sea Shanty Medley that is Very enjoyable. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓
Great reaction ... and welcome to the Home Free "rabbit hole." Many people begin reacting to Home Free with their cover of the Johnny Cash classic "Ring of Fire," but they are equally adept at comedy, so perhaps "Butts Remix" might be a fun one for you to try. What a joy it will be for me to journey with a favorite reactor along the paths of my favorite acapella group. Cheers!
I've always enjoyed your channel and will continue to do so. I am a bit surprised that you have only now, officially discovered Home Free. They cover many genres and they were also winners of the great Sing Off. They are a fun bunch of guys who don't seem to take much seriously, other than their dedication to music and its harmonies. Some in the group, such as Tim Faust has been known to grace us with his 5 octave range. Austin, the high Tenor, is sure to impress you with his exquisite voice control. Adam, the Beat Boxer, has been described as a ..... "Freak of Nature!" There are videos of him displaying his amazing repertoire of sound. I'm sure you'll agree, once you hear more of him and the entire Home Free ensemble. I am so happy that you have recognized them and look forward to many more wonderful reactions from you. (And your friend, Henri) Your open mind for great music, will do the rest.... Enjoy, and welcome to the 'other' Rabbit Hole, which is "Home Free."
You might check out their cover of "American Pie" with the original artist, Don Mclean. Another one of my favorites is "How great thou art" done in the Swiss alps using a drone to film during their European tour.
New subscriber! Came for the Homefree! Great reaction! Homefree is 5 of the most talented men in music! Homefree 101: First the beatboxer/ vocal percussionist is Adam Rupp aka the freak of nature. He is amazing. First tenor to sing was Austin Brown to hear him in different lead listen to " When a Man loves a Woman. The second tenor( beardcand glasses) Rob Lundquist to hear his lead singing their cover of " End of the Road", their bass is Tim Foust . He has a 5 octave singing voice. From tenor to low low bass. They just put out a new song in which he shares the lead with Austn " Land of the Free" which he cowrote. The other guy in the back next to beatboxer with dark hair, hat and beard is Adam Chance( we call him Chance) he is the groups baritone/ bass. He takes over the bass when Tim sings lead . To hear him in lead listen to "Cover me up". They share the lead amongst them all. Different ones lead. And their harmonies are perfection! To hear those harmonies check out "Helplessly Hoping". They are all amazing talents! Please check out more Homefree and ya Homefries (Homefree fans) will be back to support them!!! Thank you for your reaction!
I'm always surprised when foreigners think that only Australia has crocs. Those in the US are protected in preserves. That's a gator anyway, not a croc. Gators are throughout southern states, from South Carolina to Texas. Crocs are limited to Florida and South Carolina, although they were once on the Cali-Mexico boarder Its not a didgeridoo, its a jaw harp.
Subscribed!!!!! 😜👍😎 You definitely need to React to more Home Free Songs! If you do, I promise you that you will be swarmed by Home Fries! That's what Home Free Fans are called since the Sing Off, on NBC! Anyways here are a few suggestions: "Ring Of Fire" Featuring Avi Kaplan formerly of Pentatonix "Ring Of Fire" The Sing Off Version "American Pie" Featuring Don McLean "One Voice" Featuring Billy Gilman "Traveling Soldier" "Colder Weather" "Some Girls Do" "Castle On The Hill" "Cover Me Up" "People" Featuring Jeffrey East "Blue Ain't Your Colour" "Die A Happy Man" "What's The World Coming To" "In The Blood" "Winter Song" "The Gambler" "Take Me Home Country Roads" "Folsom Prison Blues" "Down To The Honky Tonk" "Dive Bar Saints" "I Can't Outrun You" "Helplessly Hoping" And more! If you get through all of these in addition to the ones that you have already done, and you know everyone's name and skills you are Welcome to do "Mayday" but ONLY if you have done between 15-20 Reactions!
Home Free is: Earlier Years Chris Rupp (usually wearing a Cowboy Hat & always smiling) and Adam Rupp, the Beatboxer founded the Group. Chris went Solo in 2016 with which he is doing Very Well! Adam Chance who goes by Chance was brought in to replace Chris! Chance is the Baritone that has a 4 Octave Range. He can replace Tim, the Group's Bassist when needed as Chance was the Bassist in his previous Group before Home Free. Back to Adam Rupp, he's the incredibly talented Beatboxer and can sing well too! His Beatboxing is above and beyond any other Beatboxer that I have seen! He's also won several Beatboxing Championships to boot!😁😁 Now to Tim, the Group's Bassist has a 5 Octave Range so he can Lead the Group as a Bassist or a Tenor or something in between! He's Phenomenal and he's also taught some other Bassists from other Acapella Group's to be able to do certain things that allow them to get Lower and hit Notes they weren't able to before now. The Bearded Singer is the Group's Tenor and he is Awesome! Such a Creamy Tone and at times his Range is incredible too! To end the Group's Members is Austin the Group's High Tenor. This man is unbelievable! He can hit the highest of the highest of notes and he still can do Low Notes almost Baritone standards! Now hopefully you can get caught up with the Group's Members!
First time viewer here, thanks for the reaction. Would love to see more Home Free reactions from you. They weren't trying to replicate Australian sounds it was a jew harp and deep southern US. And Adam was working on his harmonica sounds with Chance doing some great stuff. Home Free has so many songs to choose from, would love to hear "How Great Thou Art".
Yep, Home Free is a blast. Can we divest ourselves of the Australian references? If there is any sound more American than Home Free, I can't guess what/who it would be. It's great how they blend a beatboxer with acapella voices, isn't it? Truly innovative. And yes, their bass singer is a rare specimen. But those weren't crocodiles in the video. Those were alligators ('gators). *Very* different animals. 'Gators aren't nearly as dangerous. They're rather mild beasties, actually. Golf Courses in the South routinely see 'gators wandering across the fairways and greens, nobody pays them any attention. That is not how one reacts to crocodiles that big! Years ago, a friend and I did a day canoeing trip in the Okefenokee swamp on the border of North Florida and Southern Georgia. We paddled down a channel through the swamp, and as we progressed, 'gators on the banks would slip into the water ahead of us, heading right for where we intended to paddle. We'd get close and they would slap their tails on the water and dive. That's their escape, to go as deep as they can. They don't want to mess with people unless they're really tiny people. Once in a blue moon a 'gator might grab a toddler, that's about it. Supervise your toddlers, people! Later that day, we sat in the canoe on a small lake in the center of the swamp. I had my binoculars out and was watching the anhingas. My friend was fiddling with his 35 mm camera with a zoom lens. It was peaceful, quiet, sunny, pleasant... suddenly, all at once, an explosion of action! My friend let out a yell and fell backward, the canoe rocked violently; and a 'gator, which probably had crawled out on a log to sun itself next to the canoe, noticed him at the same time and fled with much thrashing and splashing. We laughed afterward. We couldn't decide who was more startled, my friend or the 'gator. That little tale hasn't much to do with Home Free, but as you're a furriner, and crocodiles sprang into your mind on seeing the video, I thought it might be a kindness to give you a fuller impression of what it was you actually saw. Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific islands can keep their crocodiles. I like our 'gators much better.
As a Miami native, and frequent camper in the Everglades as a kid, I can agree with what was written. Gators mainly are pretty feral and want nothing to do with humans, but they sure are quick & scary looking, especially if you get an ol' bull Gator close to ya.
@@miamidolphinsfan Your experience *far* surpasses mine. Those Southern swamps sure are beautiful, though. The birds! I guess now you're having to wrestle with invasive pythons, eh? Those things will gulp a deer like I would gulp a beer.
People hear what they hear. How many people even here in the US know what a mouth harp is, never mind how it sounds? How many people can tell the difference between a gator and a croc that don't live near either one? Once the singing starts people usually hear that they're Americans and not Australians, but until that point getting vibes of Australia isn't unreasonable.
@@Urgelt yes the pythons are a total nuisance animal unfortunately introduced into the Glades back in the 1970's...they have no known natural enemies as they are not native here, so their population just exploded. Same with iguanas who with the pythons are helping to destroy the Everglades, and that is having an effect on the climate here in South Fla, which it's already different than when I grew up here in the 1960's & 1970's. It doesn't rain as much as it did in the Summer
@@miamidolphinsfan While idiots, that is people, have released all sorts of non-native tropical species into the Glades, seems like I recall a research facility being damaged during a Hurricane releasing animals into the wild.
There where so many other great songs in absolut perfect performances. They make the covers to their own songs and the videos are most very funny. Or sentimental (Go rest high on that mountain or Travellin' soldier).
Loving your style of reaction... very classy with little talk and captions... nice... you should check out helplessly hoping by the them ..CSN..cover.. geeat harmonies
Tim is "helped" by Chance, the Baritone on a couple of transitions to emulate the deeper or lower sound! Tim doesn't need the help but Chance is so good he makes it sound fuller and deeper or lower!
You better prepare yourself for the onslaught of Home Free recommendations from the massive loyal fan base…me being one! We loyal fans are affectionately referred to as “home fries”. They have many covers they have done that are arguably remastered better than the originals. One recent original released that I would recommend is “Land of the free”.
Love Home Free, and this is the one you pick if you can only hear one. Your formula for great reactions if you're not breaking it down technically (IMO): Be art-observant and -appreciative, have a bright spirit, say smart stuff, be real, express emotion in an excited but balanced way, ... don't get me started!
If you want to have some fun watching Home Free you want to check out their songs and videos of Love Train and Butts remix and All about that bass just for starters! For a more serious song and video they did a beautiful job on the song Helplessly Hoping. Welcome to world of us Home Fries!
"" is a term (often derogatory) for people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas in the United States, primarily in southern Appalachia and the Ozarks. The term was later used to refer to people from other rural and mountainous areas west of the Mississippi river too, particularly those of the Rocky Mountains and near the Rio Grande.
For a real sample of variety from their country sound, their Sea Shanty Medley has wonderful full harmonies. It was done during covid lockdown, so it's TikTok style.
If you want to get a good variety, try their end of the road cover, Ring of fire performance from the show The Sing-Off, rest high on that mountain cover, God bless America with Lee greenwood, bye bye Miss American pie with Don McLean, hillbilly Bone cover, butts remix, then mayday last!
I hate being contrarian, but don’t recommend any of the Sing Off performances. Home Free 2021 Edition is so far beyond 2014, everything they did back then sounds like a bunch of county fair wannabes. Man of Constant Sorrow, Mayday, Auld Lang Syne - these should define Home Free, not the Sing Off.
A fantastic combination of voices, they got so much I could reccomend. But maybe, "Auld lang syne" is my first thought of another, even it`s a christmas/new year related theme. goosbumps!
As an American who lives in the south, I take offense to the "Crocodile Dundee" comment, those were Gators, thank you very much. Lol great reaction honestly. Love the typed commentary, it allows us to here what you're highlighting without having to try to listen past your voice.
Sabina: have a crack at "Folsom Prison Blues" - there's some tight harmonies, and fun acting by the lads in Folsom, and you do get to hear some bass too (hint - you'll like it a lot).
Now take a gander at their arrangement of Folsom Prison Blues! Maybe get a couple other reactions before ever listening to their arrangement of Mayday. Really get yourself familiar with their voices and ranges before getting to Mayday!

Welcome to Home Free! They are awesome!
Hello Anita, how are you doing today?
TIM FAUST, THE BASS, HAS A 5 OCTAVE RANGE!!! WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR HIM SING TENOR IN "MAYDAY"!!!
Ugh! Sabina you're so naturally beautiful it hurts! 😊
I very much enjoyed your reaction and thoughtful appreciation. One of my favorite parts was that little bit just after the song ended where you were a bit speechless for a moment -- that was about how I felt the first time I saw this video. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! So glad you enjoyed and related to me having that moment 😊❤️
I've watched many vocalists and vocal coaches that have done reactions to this song, and very few have pointed out the basso profundo notes Tim hits after his solo.
Well done!
Well done!!! You're one of the few reactors to notice that Tim went lower after his verse. Great reaction!!!!
These guys are some of my favorite singers! So glad you had the chance to see and hear them!
Superbe réaction, salutations de France 👋
I love the accapella groups. On Friday I'm going on holiday with my sisters and brothers. My brother and my birthday are celebrated there and yes, Pentatonix and Home Free CDs are also coming along. It's a good thing our holiday home stands alone, no neighbors, so we can sing along loudly hahahaha . Gr. from The Netherlands
LOVE YOUR REACTION, AND THE TEXT DURING THE PERFORMANCE
And Crocodile Dundee was Australian, this is deep in the southern USA. 😉
There are definite similarities between the cultures though.
@@JustCalMeBozeman Except we have Crocogaters.
@@iamjsams755 i thought it was crocadilagators
@@bertgoat Them too.....
The ladies always like the bass! :)
Cheers!
These guys are quite wonderful !!! They have over 140 GREAT VIDEOS HERE ON TH-cam 🙃‼️💖. And, all genres of music !!!
Heard them for the first time in this video and I can't stop listening.....
they have the incredible voices, I am always impressed by singing a cappella! Thank you, Sabina, for reacting to this group:-)
Hello Anna, how are you doing today?
Love Home Free!! Please react to more of their music!❤
Hello, new subscriber here. I love your reaction and your appreciation of Home Free...welcome to the HF rabbit hole! 💐💐
Home Free......Bringing on the Eargasms!
Hello Carla, how are you doing today?
You must do When a Man Loves a Woman. Austin features in it. It will blow you away. Cheers from Canada
I Love the new look - U appear to be much happier :-)
Great critique -
I'm always surprised when foreigners think that only Australia has crocs. Those in the US are protected in preserves. That's a gator anyway, not a croc. Gators are throughout southern states, from South Carolina to Texas. Crocs are limited to Florida and South Carolina, although they were once on the Cali-Mexico boarder
Its not a didgeridoo, its a jaw harp.
Subscribed!!!!! 😜👍😎

great reaction, hello from the dirty south
Home Free is:
Earlier Years Chris Rupp (usually wearing a Cowboy Hat & always smiling) and Adam Rupp, the Beatboxer founded the Group.
He's also won several Beatboxing Championships to boot!😁😁
Now to Tim, the Group's Bassist has a 5 Octave Range so he can Lead the Group as a Bassist or a Tenor or something in between!
MORE HOME FREE, PLEASE
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
even the record needle scratches were made by Robb, talent beyond compare, plus thenhuman drum kit Adam Rupp!
Just remember ladies and gentlemen no innocent instruments were hurt in the making of this!!
FINALLY! :-). Great group, awesome catalog and so many fun and hilarious videos.
Tim is truly great! And so is Geoff Castellucci... and he has a new video of his version of Misty Mountains. Absolutely awesome!
Hi Sabina. Love your reaction to this. If you like Tim's bass check out their cover of Brothers in Arms
Greetings from Tasmania, Australia !!
I love Home Free! 😍
They are fire
There where so many other great songs in absolut perfect performances. They make the covers to their own songs and the videos are most very funny. Or sentimental (Go rest high on that mountain or Travellin' soldier).
Loving your style of reaction... very classy with little talk and captions... nice... you should check out helplessly hoping by the them ..CSN..cover.. geeat harmonies
Awesome and great reactions. You've become absolutely one of my favorites. Cheers from Georgia, USA (the SOUTH!!! haha)
...and home of Austin Brown, right?
Tim is "helped" by Chance, the Baritone on a couple of transitions to emulate the deeper or lower sound! Tim doesn't need the help but Chance is so good he makes it sound fuller and deeper or lower!
You better prepare yourself for the onslaught of Home Free recommendations from the massive loyal fan base…me being one! We loyal fans are affectionately referred to as “home fries”. They have many covers they have done that are arguably remastered better than the originals. One recent original released that I would recommend is “Land of the free”.
Loved your review
WORKIN FOR A LIVIN BY HOME FREE IS FUN
For a real sample of variety from their country sound, their Sea Shanty Medley has wonderful full harmonies. It was done during covid lockdown, so it's TikTok style.
Good reaction!
Henri would love this song
If you want to get a good variety, try their end of the road cover, Ring of fire performance from the show The Sing-Off, rest high on that mountain cover, God bless America with Lee greenwood, bye bye Miss American pie with Don McLean, hillbilly Bone cover, butts remix, then mayday last!
You forgot one song that highlights Tim. The cover of Your Man.
So cool that you're "getting there" now. Started following you after Misty Mountains and couldn't wait for you to start down this road xD
It’s an awesome Road!!!
A fantastic combination of voices, they got so much I could reccomend. But maybe, "Auld lang syne" is my first thought of another, even it`s a christmas/new year related theme. goosbumps!
You love Tim's bass so much, you need to check out their cover of Mayday!
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. Keep going……. Try brothers in arms or honey I’m good, or sea shanty melody
I thought you said, "It's a cover by Humphrey!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As an American who lives in the south, I take offense to the "Crocodile Dundee" comment, those were Gators, thank you very much. Lol great reaction honestly. Love the typed commentary, it allows us to here what you're highlighting without having to try to listen past your voice.
They are doing it live. No auto tune:-)
It’s amazing
Helplessly Hoping, please.
Check out this group doing Folsom Prison Blues and then Mayday by Cam.
Agree on Folsom prison but too soon for mayday in my opinion. Needs a few more songs under her belt before she can really get the full shock value.
@@MattPhizzle Good advice. "Mayday" would be good now...but great later! One of the best things about HF is that you can expect the unexpected. :-)
Try Tim's cover of Misty Mountains with Peter Hollins. Great stuff!
Tim Foust 👍👍👍👍💖🌹
