This card goes great with Vance’s blasting cannon in the deck once it flips into spitfire bastion. It’s an easy look at the top 3 and pick one at worst. Great card!
I already love this Card for several reasons: It's Rakdos colored It's a Vampire (Edgar was my first Commander from Precon) It's from Innistrad, which is my favorite Plane and best of all... IT'S GOT MY NAME, SO I CAN PLAY MYSELF AS A COMMANDER OR IN THE 99 XD
This feels like the same strategy as a "Belbe, Corrupted Observer" deck, only it digs up cards instead of mana, and including red instead of green has a lot more ping options.
I definitely want this card for a Rakdos Vampire Tribal deck... I can already see the potential, as a lot of vampires (or at least ones from the first Innistrad block) have Bloodthirst, benefitting from being cast on your post combat main phase by gaining effects if an opponent was dealt damage that turn, giving some synergy there. They also have some pretty good ways to ping opponents and deal a fair amount of damage. I'm sure a non-Tribal deck would be able to manage a whole lot better, but I think a Tribal deck would work amazingly still.
My Rakdos group hug deck would love it. If course a hug from the Rakdos isn't exactly friendly so you end up a bit bloodied from the exchange. Lots of party draw, but also lots of damage and loss of life in exchange. Not to mention the relentless wither.

It might be worthwhile adding the other rakdos shrines. The honden of infinite rage also deals damage per shrine and the old black one forces opponents to discard. I was also thinking birgi and rousing refrain may also be good adds for more mana.

@@Dzicozan What's really busted is that it doesn't specify a certain card type only you can exile. So you can exile a board wipe to play, or exile a land if you missed a land drop.

I think vicious rumors would be good in this deck because for just one black mana it does this Vicious Rumors deals 1 damage to each opponent. Each opponent discards a card, then mills a card. You gain 1 life.

Been brewing this all day. Neheb is an auto include, gives you the same amount of mana as cards you get to look at. Also mind crank would be nasty haha
Just wanted to say the same. It's like this deck can just swap it's commander (RLOR vs Florion) if you feel like it. Which is also nice if you want a quick change for little cost.
How about some magical christmas land, where you get to activate heartless hidetsugo and then double the trigger with strionic resonator, to dig through a total of 120 cards?
Surprised that you mentioned Direfleet but not Scourge of the Skyclaves. For 2 more mana, you can halve everyone's life totals, which can be like 50 life total, with the bonus of being beefy if you're all under 20 life.
When they say you can "play" the card, does that include discarding it for Tormenting Voice? If so, the value combo with Prosper, Tome Bound, Florian, Tormenting Voice, and a madness card. Would a madness card get a double trigger off of prosper? Oh man the spice!
Isn't there a creature lets you play cards from the bottom of your library? I think if you stack it correctly with this commander that could double your access to a needed spell
I don't think there is, but also this guy puts on the bottom in a random order, so unless you deal 2 damage to opponents, you won't have the card you want on the bottom.
Not sure if I'm forgetting something about magic or what, but if opponents lose life before he enters, does he still get the trigger? Ex. Opponents lose 3 each, Florian enters, combat, post combat.

I agree. I'm still not a fan of impulse draw. A part of me really wants the casting window to be until the end of your next turn. But at least this guy comes out early and Rakdos has all the ways to cause life loss.

digging the top 6-12 cards consistently for eldrazi or other huge creatures to cast seems good to me, I'm in!

Flame Rift seems really good. 2 mana to dig 12 deep.
Flame Rift is probably the Golden Pig for this deck.

This is definitely an extra combat strategy commander. Just stick a Sword of feast and famine and keep digging for more combat steps
More combat steps don't give you more main phases most of the time, so be careful.
