@@7fatrats I've been trying but I don't think I'm quite there yet, I just need to keep find obscure useful cards, right now it's some weird life gain/death and taxes/life switching abomination
Really isn't worthwhile for it though. It's a really shit effect on a really shit card sadly. The fact you have to wait an entire turn to get any real use out of it is the worst offence of this card too.
I've been waiting for a commander that would be perfect for my Minion of the Wastes. It's a star/star Minion creature with 'As Minion of the Wastes enters the battlefield, pay any amount of life. Minion of the Wastes’s power and toughness are each equal to the life paid as it entered the battlefield.'
makes lord of the forgotten seem more worth it, especially in standard. otherwise, looks like a build-around commander that would be tough to flip at times. I think I'll stick with Yawgmoth.
I think the biggest issue I see is that he transforms on the end step, so the table will always have a free rotation to deal with Ormandhal before he can swing in and regain you that life.
I’m guessing that possibility is why the sac is free, so you can pop a bunch of disposable tokens if need be in response to removal. Throw it in with Meathook massacre, Grave Pact, etc, and you can make it a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation.
I may have overlooked it in the video but there is that 0/13 defender which can change is toughness with a players life total and you can change it back a turn later
Finally an Ormendahl commander, not as strong as the og but he's one of my favorite card from old innistrad. Hope a new version of withengar will come out as well, hopefully as a possible commander
Torgarr Famine Incarnate can be used to set your life total to 20 or an opponents in commander. In case this brings in any ideas for anyone else it could be useful for this deck.
This will be a perfect mono black commander i wouldn't mind trying to build around. I'll add this to my list after I'm done working on a tinybones deck hahaha
@@jacket2848 i believe it will be a fun one for me to test out for sure. This is no way a CEDH but casual I think you can do some manipulating to where it’s viable. If this commander had partner then you’d have more options to play with.
I really like Pain's Reward with this card. It is more expensive, mana-wise costing a total of 9 mana, but think it can be more flexible. You can set yourself up to go exactly to 13 and if someone bids higher to stop you just let them lose that life.
There is also the card that is literally named the fear of 13 I can't remember the exact name, but at the beginning of your upkeep each opponent loses a life and you you gain a life or they gain a life and you lose a life, if anyone is at 13 they lose the game, or something close to that
Opponent who struggled to get to 13 life: YES I HAVE HIM OUT NOW IM GOING TO WIN! Life gain decks, mono green, treasure...pretty much every other deck: I already have something else in the air with flying that is strong that I got out on turn 4
I plan on making a Jerren Shadowborn Apostle deck because the flavor is fantastic. The Apostles are Jerren's followers and Jerren replaces them when they sacrifice themselves to tutor up demons. Definitely better Apostle commanders, but I love the flavor of Jerren and the Apostles.
I believe Jerren could be a decent take on a shadow apostles deck since the apostles are humans! It would be a very neat and very flavorful demon tribal sort of shell for the deck! It sounds mega fun and flavorful to me :)
my dark confidant finally has a spot where it doesn’t feel overpowered! whole deck is gonna just be human tribal but with hellllaaaa risky life loss just cause i can!
interesting and all but a very bad card to try to use. you go to 13 get a 6/6 by at least turn 6 if your lucky. so now you get drained by the Aristocrat deck, killed by the bird deck, dead to the burn deck, easy kill for the token spam deck, dead to elves or goblins, or trampled down by the stompy deck. also literally just dead to a Zacama deck. 9+ mana by turn 6 is pretty easy to do so can probably just insta kill you as soon as you hit 13 life. or leave you at 1 or 4 so then your really easy to kill next turn if you make it back to theirs.
Easiest way to pull it off would probably be in a Blim deck then give them tree of predation force them to tap it with emrakul off of sneak attack then have a way to destroy the tree Lots of hoops but I plan to try to make it happen
@@Zendrig sorry shoulda said fastest, although saying that anything that you can pay life into endlessly is just as fast. It was just something that immediately popped into my head and became a personal goal, I already use and abuse emrakul in blim anyway so its just another party trick.

Are we going to be getting a video on Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor? I understand if not, but I've always been a huge fan of the curse enchantments and would love your opinion on the new curses commander.
Best part, in those colors....we have access to a total of 29 or 30 curses and that's including the ones that transform FROM creatures or INTO creatures
not going to lie but, Putting yourself at 13 just to get a decent body that gives you cards conditionally is garbage in comparison to going the Ad Naus or Necropotence route. But that's just my opinion.
that's not an opinion, it's a fact. But people like doing goofy things because that's they're brand of "fun". No problem with that so let them be goofy
This card seems really poorly designed. Why would I even want to transform it? Why not just keep my 1/1 human token engine? Why do I still have to pay 4BB even after going through all of that work? Why does the back side of this creature feel like something that could easily be printed on its own as an absurdly boring 4BB non-transforming creature? Why not just run the original Ormendahl card instead of this? The original Ormendahl is way cooler anyways and my EDH playgroup would probably be willing to rule 0 it.
Good for standard, shit for EDH, damn, not even worthy of a mention in EDH, payoff is a 6/6 body that doesn't even have indestructible. Best case scenario, you get to 13, you swing with this go to 19 and refill your hand IF you have something to sac to it AT BEST... shit it even transforms at the end of turn so you cant swing the same turn it transforms. At worst it's just flip it and it dies to removal and you get to draw some cards, something black can do pretty well with other cards. Free sac outlet is nice but again, black has a shit ton of that as well and you don't have to drop to 13. If you go with this as your commander the only card that comes to mind is Magus of the Mirror for some shenanigans, other than that I don't think this is worthy of a 14 min video.
And they made this a mythic? Really? You have to jump through the weirdest hoops to get to 13 life while praying your dude with no protection abilities whatsoever survives all that time, and then you also need to pay SIX fucking mana at one and only one precise moment of the turn?!!? Poor Ormendahl always gets hidden behind stupid clunky un-transformable cards...
