How this coach speaks in these first moments of a defeat which is still so raw and his appreciation of BYU and their win says everything. Total class.

Coach Smith is the real deal...tough runner when he competed and has elevated the other coaches who compete against him..I’d run for him in a heartbeat!

NAU is still young next year they'll win for sure

BYU is also decently young, and if Casey Clinger comes back strong BYU will still put up a huge fight.

He's got the Zoolander "blue steel" look going on... and what exactly is the accent? It's like Sly Stallone meets mid-Atlantic meets L.A. personal trainer

Read between the lines, now he really gets to coach and have his team rise up from defeat. No motivation necessary...his teams will be really scary now...they have the bulletin board material. That being said, there was something off with the start of the race, both men and women’s races had teams struggle to get to the front of the pack from the same side...can’t do anything about it...but pretty obvious.

@ Run With Raj: I flew in from Phoenix and then drove to the race from Indianapolis. But it was well worth it. I just hope that NAU had won. I coached one of the kids when he was in high school.
