Amazing how many guys are sub 30 minutes. Top 3 all had stunning performances. Blanks with the repeat. Samuel with 1 shoe and Schubert with the huge shocker, very accomplished runner but I don’t think too many people expected him to check in 3rd.
Can someone explain to me why they go out to die in the first kilometer? Knowing that it can then cost them significantly in the second half, some check at 2.44 and drop as high as 3.13
You get trapped in the back if you do, also you get about 60seconds of "free running" as you use the anabolic sprinting energy that otherwise is wasted. Finally, it is mentally easier to stay with people and use them than risk being pulled back by those around you and inivertantly slowing down
like sethread said, you have to get out and get into a good position for the race. It takes waaaayyyy too much energy to try to pass people -- in a big race like this- if you're not in a good place. So, it would be disastrous to have a slow start. there's a line, of course. You don't want to run too fast, and then die. But you want to be in a place where you can hold your position (basically) for the rest of the race. Or at least put yourself into position where you can pass a couple people at the end.
Oklahoma is being mentioned b/c the “coach” has decided to recruit Kenyans, and while I have no problem recruiting internationally b/c I believe having different cultures is great, you’re NOT a coach if you’re unable to recruit and develop homegrown talent. It’s embarrassing. Oklahoma State can do it. BYU can do it. Arkansas and Oregon can do it. NAU can do it. Stanford and Colorado can do it. NC and NC State can do it. Harvard can do it. Iowa State, Wisconsin, NC, NC State…Why can’t Oklahoma do it? Because their coaches can’t coach. Yes, I’m salty.😂. I’d like to see my alma mater do a MUCH better job.
How can someone run in 5 ncaa national cross country meets? Do eligibility rules exist? I feel like this is the scene from benchwarmers. Dudes been in the ncaa for 8 years.
Americans calling this xc is hilarious 😂😂😂 yall never seen a proer cross country course in your life. I challenge any one of you to race in British xc championships, no one would make the top 30
@@trevorturner8037 0chance would i get first in this race and never claimed i would. But back to my initial comment…. This is absolutely nothing like real cross country. Go and watch “liverpool cross country 2024” from the uk it happened today. Thats what proper cross country looks like.

harvard boy, champion again...blanks, too smart and too strong for em...again.
Great running mechanics by Blanks. Nearly all movements going forward, not much wasted movement up and down or side to side.
I noticed that as well!
Blanks is a beast! Love the academic and athletic prowess.👊
Would’ve been closer had Samuel not lost a shoe. Awesome race from him and congratulations to Blanks once again.

Interesting to see the East Africans getting a lot more numerous. There used to be a handful, but now they're a lot deeper. Was there a rule change?

y’all really gotta stop this obsession with Americans. they’re still great athletes and can dust you in any race😂
@ my 10k pb would place me in the top 100 in this race. And was on a much much tougher course.
@ top 100 is still nothing. you think you’d get 1st in this race? I call bs
