- In this scene from Season 4, Alexis finds out Krystle is expecting another child with Blake and lets slip that she was pregnant four times, setting the stage for Amanda's arrival the next season.

There was no miscarriage. She mistakenly let on about Amanda.
She didn't slip up about a Miscarriage she Accidentally let it Slip out that she had given Birth to 4 Carrington Children and kept the 4th a Secret from her Ex Blake.
I remember seeing this and thinking, aha there’s a fourth child. This was the first mention of it.

This was the hint to viewers that another child (Amanda) was coming. It was rather creative of the writers to come up with this scenario since after all Alexis was gone for 16 years.
Yes, it was good foreshadowing. I just didn't like that they changed the facts from the second season when it was established that Blake threw Alexis out after he caught her with Roger. There was no mention of any kind of reconciliation and I can't imagine Blake would've taken her back after that.
ForeverCarrington Did we ever know the true story of Blake throwing Alexis out? She claimed in court he paid her off and she couldn’t see her children but yet he said that’s not how it was...so what exactly did he do? It’s hard to fathom a mother could stay away for 16 years and have no contact whatsoever with her children.
If I'm remembering correctly, he paid her a certain amount (maybe each year) if she stayed away. He didn't force her not to see them, she just wanted the money more than she wanted to see the kids, which I think is one of the worst things she did. As a mother, no amount of money would ever keep me away from my children.
ForeverCarrington Alexis did say something now that Roger was dead she knew it was ok to come back to Denver now. I guess Roger might have said she tried to kill him and not Blake or something (if that was even true). I always thought it was odd Blake hadn’t remarried for 16 years, just marrying Krystle months before Alexis returned. The first season seems so dull before Alexis came back.
@@happydrunkmeansober In episode 5x11, "Swept Away", Blake is talking to Alexis about Amanda's paternity and mentions that they reconciled for three months after he caught her with Roger Grimes and then threw her out after she snuck out to visit Roger in the hospital when Blake went on a business trip. He found out about it, then kicked her out permanently. That's the reconciliation I was talking about. It's a different story than the one that was first established where Blake caught them in bed and banished her immediately.

I think having Alexis shoot that gun to scare the horse so it would throw a pregnant Krystle was too much. It's really an irredeemable act. They should've had her done something with more plausible deniability. Scenes like this would be more fun that way. At it is, they just have a tragic undertone.
*John Alexis did what needed to be done. Build that bridge and get over it. The baby is dead and never had a chance.*
It's a soap opera. Even the protagonists tend to be thoroughly horrible people on shows like this. I mean, if you want talk about irredeemable, let's bring up Blake. The man actually belongs in prison, and then hell for the rest of eternity, yet we're apparently supposed to accept that Krystle has made him a better man -- even when he continues to prove he's not -- and root for him, I guess.

@@goldcherries Yes. It was seen as unladylike and improperly dressed to have bare legs with a dress on. Especially at formal occasions! It was definitely frowned upon at that time.
I still wear pantyhose. Some dresses look better with hose, especially when you have very pale legs like mine! To me, they give a smoother finished look.

Linda Evans was in her early-to-mid 40s at the time this was made. I don't know how old her character was. Not beyond the realm of possibility even back then to have kids at that age.

The show was just a stupid soap opera shown in prime time, but the acting was quite good (far beyond daytime soaps of course). I'd forgotten how well both women could stare and act with their eyes lol.
