I mean, I guess. If you don’t like it, you don’t even need a reason so I stand behind it even though I loved it because power to you my guy!

First of the Sybil is far more than just an operator of a gun. It is the literal government which engages in decision making which effects the entire country. An ai could never have enough cognitive ability to engage that level decision making. So it's not even a question as for why they don't use a normal ai over the brains.
Secondly, the guns aren't much different than a pulse machine. It just calculates a specific numerical and sends the data to Sybil basing on which the penalty is given.and imo It is far more effective than some camera. Because a camera could easily be misutilised if used in this case. What if someone points the gun at some actors doing a play. And ends up shooting it solely based on visual data? Despite the fact that it was just an act in a play and no intention of harm was present. So that's obviously is far dumber and impractical than Sybil's method.

_What if someone points the gun at some actors doing a play._
Well, that's a strawman. Why would a policeman be present in that situation in the first place.
You have these human brains which have evolved to use human senses and instead of using them to analyze visual data, you use them to do things which a robot can probably do better, to infer whether a person will do harm based upon medical indicators.

@@nvllvs I specifically used the word "misutilised". An inspector can easily turn the dominators into a tool for murder as long he can make a person point a knife. Not to mention it will be something he can easily get away with, because he can always use the excuse that the dominators gave their approval. You will just be feeding corruption if you gave such an defected means of jurisdiction to a single person. At least I don't think it could be called a sensible jurisdiction system with such an obvious loop hole in between.
And I don't exactly understand how visual data can provide more effective crime control than what the Sybil does. You do remember that Sybil is something that can detect a criminal before an crime has been commited? Drones are everywhere collecting the psycho pass of each person. The moment an abnormally is detected they can take in that person right that instant and give proper councelling or would you rather wait to extract the visual data till which it might far too late and criminal has has already killed a victim or two? The probability of an abnormality like makishima to appear is a one in a million case. It's a system good enough to bring about efficiency that the normal jurisdiction isn't able. The point you are making is, Sybil wasn't paranoid enough to prepare for the 0.01% probability event thus making it a flawed system. I get that it seems strange for something as advanced as Sybil to make such an trivial fallacy as not being able to detect what was right infront of it. But to look at it in a different way, the dominators lack the ability perceive the common sense in exchange for the ability to perceive what commonsense can't. The scale we use and the scale they use are so different that what we can perceive, the dominators can't and vice versa. And sybil itself acknowledges that their crime system isn't perfect yet and thus specifically uses humans to weild the dominators instead of drones so that each can compensate for the other's fallacy.
Plus I think you mistaken about about something. The dominator isn't operated by the ai of Sybil. It's basically a scale with only a single function attached to and isn't given an decision making ai.

You do realize that the same argument goes for it being unable to be misuitilized, though. For one to do so, he needs his manager's authorization. If you are acting in the first place with a weapon in public, you probably need a permit. And you have cameras on set. Therefore, the probability of accidents are virtually impossible. So, you need a policeman who has a grudge for a certain actor, the latter of which was specifically acting while using a weapon, the former of which was criminally asymptomatic.

If you are concerned of it being "a tool for murder", it already does that. A second of agitation can spike one's Psycho-Pass, therefore making him a target. If my memory serves me correctly, that was the problem Akane was dealing with at the opening of the second season.

I am sure that a bunch of human brains can analyze a video or image and infer hostility therefrom as opposed to medical parameters. If the latter has been achieved, the former is already infinitely better in doing its job.

Yeah, just from the first episode, I already know Sybil is very flawed and stupid, it can only analyze human emotion but not the situation, that is why the gun activated when pointed at a victim

clearly he missed the part where the govt(brains) wanted his brain as part of the hivemind

    • @nvllvs

You do know that the reason he was wanted was because he was criminally asymptomatic, right? which was caused by the way in which the system works.

@@nvllvs Of course, but I don't see how this comment and this video in general is an adequate response to the show.
I don't understand how you dislike the show to be frank as all the issues you attempt to point out are hashed out and dealt with in the realm of the show. It clearly shows a juxtaposition between the perceived flawlessness and accuracy of the Sibyl System (along with the dominators) and the obvious criminal behavior of Makishima. This type of content is all over the thematic message of the show.
All this review seems to be is like small nitpicks because the show didn't shove the incredibly obvious message directly at your face.

Regardless of their want, he who shows no negative symptoms while doing harm can not be dealt with with a Dominator. Which is a made-up problem.

@@nvllvs Although, this line of argumentation is still questionable so I am really having trouble analyzing your issue to begin with.
To attempt to answer your question.
The dominator is a tool that does an action dependent on what factors is handed to it by the system that judges it. It acts based on those conditions and nothing less. It seems like you expect the dominator itself to be a judgement on crime when it is the system (which is obviously flawed) making those judgements.
Meta-narratively, I still think my argument is perfectly sound. When you say it's a "made-up problem", it just seems like you don't understand hypotheticals which clearly show why the seemingly "just" Sibyl System is flawed.
If the Sibyl System is based off of a network of asymptomatic criminals, it would be perfectly reasonable for the system, which governs the country entirely, to attempt to act in it's own interest to make sure the criminally asymptomatic people are unable to be put to justice as the action of killing Makishima, in this instance, would go against it's stated prerogatives in obtaining a "larger sample size" for itself. Again, it has been showcased multiple times of being able of acting in it's own self-interest.
