@@JamesLee50 Giving popularity, sure, but still it's unethical if you can buy it and obtain an official license. Assuming it goes directly to the dev, not some publisher who only owns the IP, for example.

First of all, calling Ryukishi07s writing horrible is a totally bad take, he has pioneered and set the ground for many visual novels even today. I get that some parts can be pretty boring, it took me a whole 2 months to finish because of how slow i felt it was. its MEANT to be slow. skipping is probably the worst thing you can do in this case, many scenes are repetitive in higu but it lays out the sudden twist halfway through so if you skip you cant FULLY appreciate what it has to offer and it may make you lost especially if you ignore the tips. Ryukishis writing is NOT terrible, Higurashi was his first work so you cant judge him for that alone. If you want a faster paced shorter story try Higanbana no saku yoro ni. Maybe even Umineko for that matter.

Weird. I'd say that Higurashi is one of the more tightly-written VNs from what I've read. Certainly much more than things like Fate.

VN actually was mostly filler. It wasn't hidden or anything, most dialogue got repeated a few times to fill out time.

If you feel like ur time was wasted you either haven’t read the manga (which was who this movie was made for) or u just didn’t understand the story or both. Shit was peak and it doesn’t have a 98% for no reason

I enjoy JJk but this movie is a massive waste of time.

Well, i mean tho, wasn't satoko always stuck to l3 of the syndrome tho? So it's not like she doesn't have mental disorders, and she's a bit too obsessed with traps, but probably it Is a way to cope since she had a shitty childhood. I think the most normal is Mion, since in the 100 years of loops she never gone mad like shion,rena or k1(unless se count gousotsu but she was injected the virus) nor she's mentally fragile cause of the syndrome+childhood traumas like satoko. Other than that she's my fave too, too bad gousotsu assassinated her character.

@@vyx_the_grole Yes exactly . I completely forgot about Mion. In this case, it is possible that she is the most normal. She's a good girl, but I still like Satoko better. Sometimes I think maybe it's because I'm a lolicon. Or is there a deeper reason? Perhaps I'm too impressionable.

@@heh_21 nah, satoko Is my favorite too. But thinking about It my favorite character in fiction ever (which Is also in my pfp) is shinobu from monogatari, so maybe i AM a lolicon. Maybe we both in denial.

Disagree that the anime is _just_ for shock value: most of the foreshadowing, which is what makes it so well-written, that you can look back on the Question Arcs and see the things which you might have ignorantly disregarded and how they line up with the Question Arcs, are there in the anime.

@@nvllvs hmm yeah you're right sorry, shock value is probably not the right term but more like the anime just heavily relies on Gore and Violent scenes to the point they neglected some other important elements and the true essence of the story what makes this series actually good, it's just that I hate it how people just love and only remembers Higurashi for all the wrong reasons like the violent scene with out of context.

The anime was my first anime ever, so I kinda have it in my top for nostalgia only

​@@Satella_witch_of_dreamsBuddy I remember it for the tension, for the coldness, for the plots, for the violence, for the paranoia, for the mind tricks, for the banger opening song of season 1, for the characters, for the expressions, etc. Also, unless you are talking about the 2020 anime, the original didn't really have too much gore. Just that when it's there, it is intense but not necessarily exaggerated. My only complaint was that the story wasn't as detailed and easy to understand as in the visual novels. Plus, the erasure of certain character development scenes. But overall, it was and is an enjoyable experience. Though, I will admit before watching the Kai anime, the thing that kept me hooked to the anime was the bleakness and psychological horror so I wasn't able to enjoy Kai much due to being more focused on getting a happy ending which sort of disappointed me at the time because there was nothing thrilling about that. But I warmed up to the less scary content when watching Rei and the 2020 anime(despite some of it's failings, it did get me used to more character-focused stories) and now the anime version of Saikoroshi-hen is among my top arcs despite being the least scary. The visual novels did give everything more depth but it isn't as visually stimulating as the anime or manga and while it did have banger soundtracks, not all the soundtracks were to my taste. Overall, for storytelling purposes, yes the visual novel is better and more modern remasters of the novel also has great voice acting but still, the anime had it's own charm otherwise. It's not as great as the VN, but that doesn't mean it isn't good stuff.
