Palpatine's Thoughts as ANAKIN was Built into VADER

- Palpatine first met Anakin in revenge of the Sith. He was the chosen one for the Jedi and now, for palpatine. Palps coerced anakin patiently into the dark side since he first met him. Strategically planting seeds into his mind until the time came to do what must be done and execute order 66. Anakin was Palpatine’s protoge, he was everything to him. He was to be more powerful than Sidious, and to rule the galaxy with his powerful apprentice. However, when Anakin fell to Obi-Wan, or rather, to his own arrogance in thinking he could defeat his former master atop a less favourable position, against the high ground, Sidious was devastated. In the film, Revenge of the Sith, we see Vader being put together in Palpatine’s medical facility on Coruscant. The best medical droids at her service, applying an out of date suit so Vader would live with the pain of his failure, mentally and physically, forever. But did you ever wonder, what was Sidous thinking while Vader was being put together? His prize new apprentice, the one he had tried to turn to the dark side, had now just become a fraction of the man he almost became. How did Sidious take it? How did he feel about it? What did he think of Vader now? The following excerpt comes not from Matthew Stover’s Revenge of the Sith novelization of the film, but rather Patricia c Wrede’s junior novelization of revenge of the sith, and it’s quite interesting what Palpatine’s thoughts were. I always wondered why Palpatine didn’t start training Anakin once he revealed himself as the Sith, they could’ve secretly gone to Korriban or other Sith worlds - Anakin could have been VERY powerful if Palpatine had not been overly confident!
He needed jedi out of the way first
He needed to perform a ritual of the Order of Sith Lords before he could be formally inducted first- that of killing somebody he trusted.

@@fersho450 Anakin never trusted or cared for the Jedi. In an ironic and tragic twist of fate, the death that cemented his place as the Sith Lord Darth Vader was Padmé's.
The political situation was quickly unraveling and the jedi were discovering who they were. Remember it was a surprise attack by Obi-Wan and Yoda.
I really like the idea that Palpatine would see the silver lining in Vader's appearance inducing more terror than Anakin's handsome face ever could. So not a total loss.
I think Vader would still use the suit but whithout robot parts (just to hide himself i Guess, only if he does not betray Palpatine)
No I think he would just be dark side anakin with cybernetic limbs. Most likely the lowest quality and most uncomfortable ones palpatine could find

Imagine if Kenobi had remembered the Jedi way and not simply left Anakin to burn alive. I wonder if he would have been able to turn him back in time?
Obi-Wan would have failed. Padmé was the only one capable of saving him. To Anakin, Obi-Wan and all he represented came second. That isn't to say he didn't love or care for Obi-Wan, only that he'd be willing to throw him, Ahsoka, Rex and the others away for his immediate family's sake. In that light, Obi-Wan choosing to leave him was a way of leaving Anakin's fate in the hands of the Force, as Obi-Wan couldn't bring himself to kill him.
I think if obi wan didn't let Vader burn he could have contained him with Yoda and padme. Once Vader saw padme giving birth he'd chill out, and once padme saw Anakin, even without arms and legs she wouldn't die. Unless Sidious really did kill her somehow.

THAT always felt like the last shred of Anakin Skywalker to me. Of course Sidious would snuff that out, and he didn't even need to lie to do it, as you said.
Really makes you understand more of the pain of Vader. I think when he met Luke and discovered it was his son the light side reawakened in him.
Making sure Obi-wan did not have the high was why Vader took so long to confront Kenobi on the Death Star.
Vader was scared of him. Even though he knew Obi wan was old out of practice he knew that only a fool would underestimate him which is why he was so slow and calculated in his duel. I think he was using Obi wans own strategy against him. Win by tiring an old man out with powerful cybernetic enhanced blows
Was it ever explained as to why the clones, freshly under Order 66, didn't attack Anakin also? Did Sidious have to say, "Wait! He's good. Everyone else, though"

@@phillydam In Legends, Palpatine used the powerful Dark Side art of Dun Möch to compel the clones to obey the order and instinctually recognise Jedi. Vader wasn't one.
He probably told them "my new apprentice lord Vader is now second in command he will lead you all there" (Darth sidious voice)
My interpretation of palps and Vader has always been that Palps actually cared about anakin and trusted him . I think when he places his hand on vaders head after finding him on Mustafar , he cements this . Just like when anakin chucks palps down the shaft , palps never sensed it because he trusted anakin . Anakin is palps attachment

This is so good. We need a Vader series on Disney +, that and a Garek Malen / Starkiller Series about Vader Secret Apprentice Series with Cloning and Grey Jedi. The path of Sith to Jedi...and how it works. I loved listening to this narrative. We need to see Vader's struggle like MacBeth after losing his wife and the punishment for his arrogance.

The Disney Starkiller I am sure will be downgraded on power slightly... that's what makes him interesting...the path from Sith to Jedi or Grey Jedi with both sides of the force. He also gives a window into cloning...and helps explain the real problems it can create.

Now he could full on train a potential Sith, not only limiting him/her to the rank of a Sith assasine. Would be so cool to see.

He hated his former self, and wanted to forget/sever any connection to anakin skywalker, ahsoka was a very good connection to anakin, by this point it’s too late. Vader blamed anakin for everything wrong and not being strong enough... And he had to destroy everything that reminded him of anakin.

As to palpatine actually caring about anakin, I think it was more of a "oh no! My greatest project could be ruined!" then actual care.

I always had this feeling Sidious/Palpatine even looked at Anakin/Vader as the son he never had. The protégé that would bring rise to the sith once more. As we all know Palpatine followed the ways of the Sith , more specifically the rule of two to a T. But I think he viewed as Anakin as his prized possession because he was that powerful before being maimed by Obi Wan. Being the evil sith lord that he was, it was interesting to see Sidious' reaction to Vader being wounded on Mustafar compared to that of both Count Dookus and Darth Mauls deaths.
I want a Vader story based game where you hunt down rebel cells and fugitive Jedi, with some Anakin flashbacks thrown in.

You missed one part from that book Theory. Sidious also considers leaving him when he gets there because he wouldn't be as powerful. He would never be able to produce Sith lightning.

When you mentioned about Padme and her son Luke at 5:45, I can't help to share this even though it does not have anything to do with Palpatine. I apologize to sound like a know it all. This is my opinion but I believe that Padme was always there in the OT, not in person but as a spirit or a ghost or something you the audience and the characters could not see her yet. If you remember Padme's last words before dying: "There is good in him, I know...I know" and suddenly in ROTJ, Luke says to Leia "There is good in him, I felt it". Coincidence? I don't think so. This connection suggests to me that Padme stuck around after her death in hopes of getting Darth Vader back to the light once again, mostly likely that was her mission all along. It seems likely she watched over her children, mostly Luke because Luke looked up to Anakin. Because of this, I believe she had an ability to influence people to go in her favor and possibly an ability to protect and shield people of any kind. Here are some of my theories where Padme in spirit may have been involved in the movies:
Luke hearing good things about Anakin his father and reaches to the point where he idolizes him. Padme or no?
Darth Vader not sensing Leia is Force Sensitive, even though she is late in her abilities. Padme or no?
Leia resisting Darth Vader's torture. Padme or no?
Luke leaves Tatooine and finds Leia on the Death Star. Padme or no?
Darth Vader fails to kill Luke during the first Death Star battle and he survives. Padme or no?
Luke survives the Wampa attack. Padme or no?
Luke's vision of seeing Han, Chewie, and Leia getting tortured in Cloud City. Padme or no?
Luke rushes to Cloud City, despite Obi Wan and Yoda telling to not to. Padme or no?
Pushing Vader and Luke to each other. Padme or no?
Vader revealing to Luke he is her father. Padme or no?
Luke survives Cloud City. Padme or no?
Leia uses her force powers for the first time upon sensing Luke. Padme or no?
Luke senses the good in Vader for the first time. Padme or no?
Leia mentioned to seeing Padme once. Padme or no?
Luke talks to Darth Vader on Endor. Padme or no?
Luke resisting the dark side. Padme or no?
Luke trying to reach out to Anakin inside Darth Vader get him to become good again. Padme or no?
Darth Vader watching Luke die and finally killing Palpatine. Padme or no?
Darth Vader finally becomes good again. Padme or no?

This was cool! I was in the 4th grade when ROTS came out, and I bought the book by Wrede a little bit after I saw it in theaters. Until now, I never appreciated how much insight and back stories there are in that book, especially for a character like General Grievous.

In Legends he cared for Anakin/Vader in a way he never cared for Dooku And Maul because Anakin/Vader pre injuries had a potential to surpass his own while Dooku And Maul while both very high potentials themselves did not yeah.

I don't get Sidous' preocupation at the beginning of the video.
At first he seems to care about Anakin as an apprentice or successor, but his later actions contradict that kind of behavior from him.
So maybe his attachment to Vader is something like a valuable asset that he sank many hours into building. No different than a death star?
Palpatine only wanted the absolute best to be his apprentice. As it has been detailed in countless sources, after Vader was injured on Mustafar and rebuilt, he no longer had the same potential he once had, and while he grew stronger than he was before, he had lost the ability to surpass Palpatine. Because of this, Palpatine began looking for alternatives. Vader is also cited as being the Empire's greatest weapon, so while he was an extremely valuable asset, he was still only a tool that would be discarded when it no longer had any use.
Using a sports analogy, you managed to sign the best player in history and he’s absolutely wrecking everyone in training camp. Then he tears his ACL and is out for a year; when he comes back he’s still quite good and still arguably the best but no longer the GOAT, so you’ll want to trade him at some point
