  • Though the ending of the Remake left a little bitter taste, I was satisfied with the game and really wanted the second part, for the most interesting things were about to happen. Plus it’s for PS5 (on two disks, mind you), so there won’t be software limitations for the engine. I have spent more than 80 hours in the game and I still have controversial feelings about it. On one hand, as a game it’s good, really good, with nice graphics, stunning cutscenes, pleasant gameplay with nice fusion mechanics (i guess I’m gonna miss it while replaying Remake) and good new characters, good soundtrack (although sometimes it’s not nearly as great and touching as in original. Especially in the scene with Red XIII’s excepting the truth about his father.), with beautiful world and different cities. The first few hours were stunning. I wanted more and more. But I got to much more. This game probably has the biggest amount of mini games in video game history, but I truly enjoyed the card game (I was really passionate about it), the others were eather ok or meh, and the game constantly distracts you from the main plot by forcing you to try every mini game and doing side quests. But this is the stuff I want to save after completing the story, I don’t want to do side things now. Therefore the game which is already long enough becomes a lot longer (I completed the main plot in 40-50 hours), which is why I’ll think twice before replaying it. Unfortunately, the plot sometimes feels like the original, but the more I played the more I realized that the devs wanted to make a completely new version of the story with multiverses, but in the first game were more faithful to the original, since fans wouldn’t appreciate the move away. And it almost didn’t resonate with me, and some things were spoiled (like Dyne’s death and Cid’s character). Especially with Aerith’s death. This is not nearly as phenomenal as in original. So, I kind of liked it, but it didn’t leave as much in my soul as the previous game. In this case the more is not merrier. But the Deluxe Edition is as nice as the previous and with the bigger and longer Art Book.
