- A very enjoyable morning session spent at Stoke on Trent on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast, Cross Country, Northern and East Midlands Railway.
The station was opened in October 1848 and was designed in typical Victorian fashion. There was a hotel built at the station called the North Stafford Hotel. The station was built and opened by the North Staffordshire Railway Company, until 1923 the station housed the company boardroom and principle office.
The station is a shadow of its former self, once upon a time the station had links to: Leek via the Biddulph Valley Line, Cheadle to Market Drayton via Newcastle-under-Lyme and Silverdale in Staffordshire and was the terminus of the Potteries Loop Line. These were all closed throughout the 1950s and the 1960s for passenger traffic, freight traffic was kept in operation on the line to Leek for sand and stone traffic until that ceased operating in the 1980s. There was once a through line between platforms 1 & 2, although I'm not to sure as to when this was removed.
This was my first time back here in God knows how many years and despite the wind trying to muscle it's way in it was very enjoyable, I will make more of an effort to come back here as this is a great station to come to.
My next station will be Crewe which I can assure you, you won't want to miss it as it is a cracking film that I have managed to get put together which will be released later in the week.
If you have any trackside locations or stations you would like to see me go to then please do let me know and I will see what I can do for you.

Great video! I love those Pendolinos and the voyagers and those class 323s (with lovely motors)
i agree the motors are lovely
Thanks very much
I seen a 221 Crosscountry voyager in the background@@Tornado922
This is my favourite place in stoke. Cause it gets me away from here.
The Class 323's sounds more like a Formula E car then a Formula 1 car! Great video as always!!
Yeah I can certainly see where you're coming from
Cool video. Stoke-On-Trent looks like a fun place to watch trains go by. :)
Thanks very much, it is a great station to come to
Stoke seems to have a lot of different operators quite surprised!
I enjoy filming Stoke-On-Trent. Great video!
Thanks very much!
Great video at Stoke-on-Trent my favourite passenger train was the 156 nice to see they can still stretch their legs
Thanks very much, the 156 does have a sense of character
@@Tornado922 That 156 was transferred from GA (407) to EMR (907) them transfers to Northern (Back to 407)
Great video as always👍
Thanks very much

Ahaha great video! Was nice meeting you yesterday with David
Thanks very much, it was great meeting you too!
Great video,a lot to see!
Thanks very much!
Very nice footage from Stoke-On-Trent (My Step Dads hometown) It is a shame that the 350/2's are getting withdrawn but would be nice to have them refurbished and have a new seating position to introduce table seats and have them re numbered as 350/9's.
Thanks very much, the 350/2 units I think will find a new lease of life elsewhere
Brilliant video legend tornado I was enjoy watch your videos
Thanks very much
@@Tornado922 your very welcome
Great railway video Tornado922, looks like decent trainspotting location.
Thanks very much, it is a great little station to go to
You were chatting about time-keeping. I recently had to go from Warrington Central to L/pool Lime street, a 40 minute trip. It left a minute early, and arrived 30 minutes late, because it 'died' en-route, and had to be pushed along by the next one!
Our rail network really is a mess
Great video tornado
Thanks very much
390104 I got on yesterday hope your well I was in middle of platform out way
Nice video 🍺👍
Thanks very much
That roof is looking particularly grim, especially on the down platform side
You talked about the pigeons and it's not just the stations either that has had them! Nottingham's Old Market Square has loads of them about and I've seen some inside Nottingham's Victoria Centre recently as well believe it or not! Even more unusual than seeing them at a station I guess! East Midlands Railway incidentally were running between Newark Castle and Derby and between Tutbury and Hatton with Cross Country running between Nottingham and Derby and between some other station and Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central due to engineering works with replacement buses running.
The pigeons get absolutely everywhere!
@@Tornado922 They do!
I Love Turbostars Trains Love Them.
It's a striking livery
@@Tornado922 When are we going to do a Mind The Gap Please & Tornado922 video together.
Great video. You should go to South Kenton again some time
Thanks very much, I will be covering South Kenton later this year
a great vid again i just love ur content its amazing and btw i loved the bury bolton st episode so if u can pls do anouther steam train episode. One more thing to say is i dont think youve been to oxonholme lake district up north so if u can pls try it anyway bye from me untill next vid
I'm glad you enjoyed watching this, I will be doing more heritage railways throughout the year
I love the traction motors on the 323
They are different
Nice video 👍
Thanks very much :)
Nice video by the way idont know if you know but sir Nigel gresley is in the line up for the seven Valley steam garla next month
Thanks very much, I will be going to the gala to see Nigel Gresley
Can someone please explain why cross country are pairing up there voyager 220 221 together I can understand when co-vid was a big thing but now it not as much? Unless there just doing it to get more passengers aboard ? As surely there no social distancing measures anymore ?
XC trains tend to get a bit overcrowded so this creates more capacity
@@georgedowns4034 why do XC trains get overcrowded?
@@maimadha cus the trains are not that long for routes that go via many major cities and they are not that frequent either
Lazy wind!
Beautiful canopy though., Wouldn't say IT is dated, its unloved by people who do not care and As such are unfit for the Job. Agree, Crewe is dramatically desolated. THX
Yeah I'd say unloved is a better way of describing it
nice video
Thanks very much
@@Tornado922 your welcome, could you go to Market Harborough station they have a new station and looks very nice!! 😀
Great video, i am led to believe that the 350/2s are transferring to scotrail but i may be wrong
I would be suprised if Scotrail were taking them
@@Tornado922 Today is the day, I hit 30 subscribers.
Hi I reckon you should go to Stourbridge Junc ok variety on a good day
I've done it once before, never again
I'd love it if you went to my hometown's main station of Southport Chapel Street.
I'll see what I can do
hello tornado 922 I glad you doing a video from stoke on trent railway station I did said before please let me know kinds regards william c adlam I'm looking forward to your reply kinds regards?
Hello William, in the response in the previous video to this I did tell you that I would be coming here
Great Video could you go to Shrewsbury train Station ?
I will be doing that soon
Did u get the rail tour yesterday it went through stoke at 1116 I got the 1248 to Manchester
No I didn't see that
why is the 350/2 being replaced? is it because of their age?
That EMR 156 to Crewe looking absolutely packed! What are they doing running only a two car train on that service? No idea how many trains per hour serves that route but seems like it could do with better capacity.
Two cars is an improvement on the single car units that operated it until 2020!
Can you do the swml or the matlock area
I will see what I can do
Can you do Newcastle
Yes
Going from Derby to Crewe
Cab you do Stockport
Yes!
I will see what I can do
I reckon West Midlands railway should take the 350 2 units
West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern are part of the same company
U forgot to mention emr in the intro
ok
Would make sense for SWR to take on the 350/2's no point scraping useable trains
SWR routes tend to use third rail?
@@Rocksock531 350's can be retro fitted with shoe gear
@@marcdavey Very true point actually. However SWR are getting a new fleet anyway so surely they wouldn't need to buy more trains anyway as they have spare as it is?
@@Rocksock531 It would make sense for them to take them to increase their long distance services and work in multiple 450's & 444's wouldn't need to change the couplers as they both use the same one.
You Forgot to say East Midlands Railway
You forgot East Midlands railway
ok
probably east midland railway get 350/2
I doubt it
NO CRITICISUM FOR THE 323 PLEASE!!!
