STOKE ON TRENT STATION on 24th February 1988
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of STOKE ON TRENT STATION on 24th February 1988. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Fascinating video! Although the rolling stock is remembered, it is the smaller details that are forgotten. The Royal Mail being loaded on to trains, the BRUTEs, the old station clocks, HSTs coming through Stoke and the guard's van with its stove obviously in use!

It’s February and the brakeman on the spoil empties train has got the stove going. All lost on today’s brake van free trains.

graet video of stoke from 30 years ago i rember that center track why did thay ever remove that was good for letting though trains though the staion now stoke can be come a bottle neak as all trains only have one track each way though the staion and thats the platform one a bit silly really to ever remove the though train should put one back to ease the bottle neak at stoke.

Barely got used, so was removed, I also seem to remember platform 1 being extended and a higher speed through the platform being one of the benefits (sure it's something like 45mph as opposed to 20mph previously), not to mention the two sets of points recovered, 4 point machines, the overhead line being simplified and the track maintenance no longer required, both through platforms are also bi-di so losing the centre road hasn't got many, if any downside
