Omg, Becky, you look sooo pretty.. Love the hair and that top is gorgeous. You look good in yellow. What talent you have. I am so envious. I do look so forward to all your videos and it seems you are down the street. Can’t want to see your granddaughters new dress. Enjoy your time with the kids.🥰
I wish I could show you my crown royal quilt. It was my first one, Very first quilt. My son brought over the bags and I've had them for about 5 years. I decided I would try it after watching a tutorial. He dearly loved it. That's what got me started into quilting. I've made 18 since then. I don't know how to send you a picture or I would.
Beaky, I just Bought(3 days ago) my very first embroidery ,a used Elna expressive 900 . So your embroidery along will be great for me. I'm a quilter so this is will be so much fun.. I love your video . I to work a full time job and sew and quilt when I can. But you inspire me , So I may have to lean to sew so shirts for myself too... Have a great day ,from Washington state...
To store quilts for a while- Make or use an old pillow case. Plastic bags collect moisture which molds and rots the quilt over time. Even than I would take out and check yearly, refold differently as not to permanently crease it. There my 2 cents worth :)
I just purchased my first magazine in my life :) because you recommended The Design Magazine, and hopeful to gain more knowledge. Thank you so much for all your advice and quality time you spend preparing these videos and teaching all of us. It is a heavenly gift that will not be wasted but shared with confidence with others. I hope you do not mind; I wanted to send you a scripture that you reminded me of; it says... "so then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. Romans 14:19
Oh, that scripture is so nice! Thank you! Needs to be embroidered and hanging in my sewing studio don't you think? Thank you and I hope you enjoy the magazine. It always has so many tips, tricks, and fun projects in it. It gives me ideas I never would have considered. Thanks again!
That yellow shirt is awesome! I would love to see how you frankenpatterned those sleeves. You look very pretty in that color of yellow. I will check on that link and order the magazine. Maybe it will inspire me to use my Solaris more. I used to get it years ago, but I never made anything from it. Of course, I worked full time back then. Don't know HOW you will get that little dress done by Thursday morning. Be sure to show it to us though.
Hi Joy! The pattern is really very easy. The bodice is lined and the skirt is pleated and has pockets. I cut the main fabric and lining at the same time. It just closes with 4 buttons in the back. Should only take me a couple of hours. Glad you are ordering! Everyone once in awhile they toss in some freebies and I like to keep up with current embroidery patterns too.
I just love your yellow shirt! Well done. Please show us your granddaughter's owl dress when completed. I know she will just love it. Good memories are being sewn up there.
Hi Becky! Love the top ❤️ I’m excited to do the Embroider-along! I’ve only done quilt labels and a couple of golf score card holders before so I’m looking forward to trying something new. I’m also going to subscribe to the magazine. Looks like a good resource. Take care and have a good weekend 😊🧵
We learn something new every day, right? lol It's a VERY popular whiskey here in the US. Each bottle comes in its own bag. But the bag material is very cheaply made and they all require interfacing to hold up to sewing and quilting. If you don't, they fall apart. I've seen some horrible quilts with those bags and most longarmers won't touch them.
Love your blouse, have been embroidering since 1995 with first computerized sewing machine, but think your class is a great idea. A lot of people have machines with embroidery units but they have never tried them. If they ever try it I think they will love it, so much fun. Thanks for doing that. I want to try the magazine but will have to figure out how to access the link, not so good on regular computers, determined to learn, ha. Just a senior progressing slowly but surely, loving life in all stages.
On a phone, click on the little down-arrow under the video so you can see the description box. The link is right there. You're a pro so you'll have this runner done in no time!
Love your new intro! Your Crown quilt is the best one I've seen, hands down! and I've scoured Pinterest looking for Crown quilt ideas! I had to quilt/longarm one for one of my regular customers last year. She cut the bags open, left all the gold stitching on them, didn't interface... it was horrid on the longarm with all those seams. The only way I could figure to quilt it was to put a block motif in each blank area. It was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen! She did it for someone who had collected all the bags, she hated it too, but the guy she made it for loved it.... guess that's all that counts. Hope I never have to do another one though!
Coming from a longarmer, I'll take that compliment! Thank you! I wasn't longarming then, but I've been sewing forever so I definitely had longarming over seams in mind as I designed the pattern and cut out the bags. That gold thread is so cheap and it frays like nobody's business so I figured a needle going over and over it would make a total mess. Other than the logo, there's not a bit of gold thread in that quilt. And I love Lorena's ruler work in the sashing - it's a nice compliment to the logo squares to rest the eye and then you notice the beautiful symmetry in it. Too bad I can't show it. Oh well, maybe I'll put it on IG so I can find it easily. :)
Grands are the best! It's amazing how different their personalities are even at young ages. Enjoy your seminar! They offered those at my local sewing center too but I couldn't work out the dates with my office. Can't wait until I'm retired! lol
Love that yellow top. I used spacebages to store CLEAN clothes in when we moved. One month later I opened the bags and everything smelled like old cigars. YUK.
I just subscribed to the Designs in Embroidery magazine and am excited to be joining your sew along. The bear pattern I have used in the past is Simplicity C5461. Out of print but currently available on Ebay for around $19. Etsy has it for $8.95 but there are only two left.
Great top don't have a embroidery machine but think it's great what you are doing .My husband has a boat he takes people out fishing in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland .😎🐟
The fishing guides here in the Texas Gulf Coast make about $100 per person for a 4 hour trip. You can get more if you know where the fish are! LOL That's the trick right?
Hey, this is Deborah Davidson at work. LOVE LOVE LOVE that yellow shirt on you. You were right, Yellow looks great on you! If you could please show us how you put those sleeves on it. I love your channel and everything that you do. You are AWESOME! I'm glad that Joy Bernhardt mentioned you in her video some time back and I looked you up.
Texas humidity can be brutal on textiles. I live in Wharton and use desiccant tubs all over this old house. In closets I use desiccant tubs.I use small desiccant packets in all bags, baskets, tubs and drawers. I’m a bit obsessive about it. Just a wee bit. 😆 ps: love your yellow blouse!
Great yellow top on you! FYI....Quilts should never be stored in plastic. A zippered pillow case is perfect! Especially the quilts you labored over for ages! 😊👍🏼
Thanks for the compliment! I totally understand about quilts not being stored in plastic. However, when you live full-time on the Texas Gulf Coast like my customer does, look away for 1 second and mildew will begin to make spots on any textured surface it can find. I have to wipe down all my wood furniture and curtains every month and I leave my AC on at 77 when we're not there. The salt air, high humidity, and Texas heat are a terrible combo for quilts that is much worse than a space bag - believe me!
Hi Becky I was wondering what type of tablet do you use or suggest for the longarm software? I need to update mine. Also what program do you use. I have a gracies frame for a Juki 2200QVP machine.
Carol Zoo is the pattern you want. And I'm excited for your stitch/sew along. I need to check and see when my subscription is due to expire. If it's less than a year, I'll renew with your code!
Thank you! I'll check out Carol Zoo. What a treasure you are! Even if you're more than a year, they will just add on. Super deal! I'm going to as well. lol
I would like the link to get the magazine design s. And also do ypu know of anyone who has crown royal bags they dont want. My husband would live a quilt using those bags. Any color will do
I'm using the owl fabric as backing on a quilt making for one of my twin granddaughters as high school graduation gift so she can take it with her to college. My owl fabric is black background with different colored owls. Love the fabric. Need to get more to make a pillowcase. Was so excited to see that Hobby Lobby still carries it. Did you find your missing fabric?
Hello Becky ; I have a question ... can you do a video on the monster snap hoop ? I am thinking about purchasing one and not sure if a 5 x 7 or 8 x 12 would be useful vs what my brother 1600 came with . 💕
I picked up a monster snap hoop back in 2010 at the main Nancy's Notions store in Wisconsin, and I bet you I haven't used that thing but 3-4 times. I have such a hard time getting everything to remain in-place. My projects just seem to shift around a bunch inside of it and I've really never had much success. I highly recommend that you give one a test drive if possible before going to the expense. Mine is probably an older model with less powerful magnets.
Boo hoo!! Clicked magz link, filled out form, and got an error message telling me I can’t subscribe. Wow. 😥😥😥. Really would like to try this magazine. Other than that boo-fa ... what a great vid. Love the story of your Gdaughters dress! Too cute. Can’t wait to see the famous Owl fabric! Nifty trick on your new yellow T-shirt. Very flattering.
Hi Becky, Just wanted to give you an update on the bear pattern. I'm sorry I can't find it, but I did find one in simplicity 8155.but its not exactly like the bear you have but close.
Beckie love watching you, I’ve learned so much just wondering is the embroidery magazine available in Australia so I can follow you when you do that beautiful table runner
Becky, I thought I saw a bear pattern like that at WalMart or at JoAnn's. Hope this helped but if I'm out there tomorrow I'll see what the number of the pattern is. Loving you shirt and your videos. Have a great day.
I have been making these bears 4 the children with rare diseases for a couple of years now. So if you have any scraps you would like to send let me know. I can always use scraps of fabric. With the smaller pieces I have been making quilts for preemies at the St Louis Hospital. I love doing it and would like to continue. Thanks for anything you can do.
I completely agree. However, at the coast, you're right on the water and if something is left without the protection from the salt air, it will mildew right before your eyes. I even have to wipe the wooden furniture down monthly for the mildew that grows. It's insane!
I should have had the camera along with us but I didn't even take my phone to the beach! Darn! I'll post a family photo in my next video though. Thank you!

I'm touched by the story of your grand-daughter's dress. That's so sweet!
Just got back from Hobby Lobby on my lunch hour and whew! They still had the owl fabric! I've got my work cut out for me tonight. :)
Before you even started talking about the blouse you made I was admiring how good it looks on you and what a nice shape. The color is good on you too.
Thank you! How sweet!

Thank you for the kind words. :) Such a sweetie!
Thank you for the share. You are very entertaining and talented.
Thanks for watching sweetie!
I had to google what was Crown Royal as I'm in the UK and never heard of Crown Royal. Now I know the bags are very nice and do make nice quilts

I'm SO glad you're going to join me! Yay!
Thank you so much for sharing this information with us and all that you do. You are awesome.
Aww, thank you sweetie!
I clicked on the link and got the magazine. I can't wait to make the table runner. I learned a lot watching your videos and order a lot of stuff too.
I'm looking forward to it too. So fun!
The link worked for you? Lucky ducky.
This shirt looks great on you! Excellent fit

Your blouse turned out so cute. I thought that you must have made that. I think I recognized the fabric. It is very flattering on you.

Love hearing about your grandchildren. Grandchildren are the best. In June Im going to take a 2 day Anita goodesign seminar.

Thanks for the info on the magazine. I'm just getting into embroidery and this will be great. Just catching up on my TH-cam
Your yellow top is darling. It fits you very well. Nice job!
Love your videos, that yellow top turned out nice and looks great on you. I like the sleeves that way.
Hi! Those are my favorite sleeves to sew. I did do an FBA for knits before changing the sleeves. It is SO comfortable! Thanks for watching!
I was admiring your top before you said you made it. Super cute and love all the Connecting Threads blocks.
Thank you! I love a sunny yellow and the nerdy part of me likes the pattern match challenge on the side seams. Thanks for watching!

If you live in Wharton then you totally understand about the humidity/heat combo. Hey, would you tell Mother Nature to turn down the wind?? lol
I ordered the Magazine, Thanks!

Thanks for magazine code. I have a Brother Quattro & I want to do more than free standing lace. So this will be fun going through steps with you.
Once we do this project, and if the response is worth while, I'll do an FSL project too. I have the Quattro and love it! Thanks!

Really like your top, you should make a pattern for it, I would differently buy it!! Thank you!
Really? It was so easy I wouldn't dream of calling myself a pattern designer. How about I do a video on how I made it? That's easy enough. :) Thanks!
I would love it if you made a video on how you made the pattern!
Just curious...did you find the owl fabric you previously bought???
Like the blouse
Thank you!
The BubbaA-matic!!
See you made a top out of the fabric you got at jo Ann's really cute.
Hi Becky, Just wanted to give you an update on the bear pattern. I'm sorry I can't find it, but I did find one in simplicity 8155.but its not exactly like the bear you have but close.
Link for magazine didn’t work..I’ll try it on my desktop computer..
I clicked on the link but I’m not sure if it’s just not working with an iPad
Beckie love watching you, I’ve learned so much just wondering is the embroidery magazine available in Australia so I can follow you when you do that beautiful table runner
I would like to know also as in Melbourne, Australia. Would this magazine embroidery patterns would for Bernina’s?
Viddy I’ve ordered mine through a newsagent for the next month July edition but did a e subscription cause you can’t get this edition
I would love to have the crown Royal bags to make a quilt I don't drink or know anyone who does to get them from
Becky, I thought I saw a bear pattern like that at WalMart or at JoAnn's. Hope this helped but if I'm out there tomorrow I'll see what the number of the pattern is. Loving you shirt and your videos. Have a great day.
Oh yes please if you find it! Thanks!
What an angel you are! I'm certain all your bears are just loved by those kids! I wish I had the time. Maybe when I retire - retire. :) Thanks!
Rebecca, this is Joy. I would love to make quilts for preemies. Will you tell me more about the size and rules please? You know my email.
what batting did you use LOL
Simplicity pattern c5461. A Great Bear pattern but you will need to lengthen the legs to be just like that one
I will check that one out. Thank you!
Becky did you take classes to learn how to make clothes?
Hey Becky you should never store quilts in plastic bags!!
I completely agree. However, at the coast, you're right on the water and if something is left without the protection from the salt air, it will mildew right before your eyes. I even have to wipe the wooden furniture down monthly for the mildew that grows. It's insane!
Do you still receive this magazine? 😊 😊 😊 😊
IF so, what phone number should I use to subscribe to it?😊😊😊😊
Sadly they are out of print. :( Magazines have gone the way of the dinosaur.
About your family beach trip
I should have had the camera along with us but I didn't even take my phone to the beach! Darn! I'll post a family photo in my next video though. Thank you!
It is a Memory Bear Pattern. The original is no longer in print but Simplicity 8044 is close. 8044 is 6 pieces. I have a 9 piece pattern that I can send you a copy of if you want to private message me your address.
8044 is pretty close, you're right. I'd have to use a "color block" method to get the logos exactly where I want them. Essentially, I'd have to sew the fabric right where I want the pattern to land...like on the soles of both feet. You can email me at beckyleethompson at outlook dot com Thanks!
Why you didn't make a video for your followers
Bear pattern: simplicity 5461. I use this pattern for making memory bears out of loved ones clothing. It has two sizes of bears.
I'll check that bear pattern out. Thank you!
