So sad. I dug my border collies grave in july.. I slept 2 nights with him In the field (his spot he picked) until it was time to put him down.. he was the best dog I've ever had. It's such a painful lose. You are so right it never gets easier
Animals have feelings, show love, happiness, sadness, and dedication. I can't help that I love them and it hurts when we lose them. Sorry for your loss Patara, I know you love them too.
Oh sweet Patara and family. So sorry for your loss. Cochese and the calf's face said it all. It's not there normal day. But the Lord placed her with the most loving family . She was very blessed to have you guys as her human mom and dad. Hugs, Loss is never easy.

Most of my chickens die of old age. I have two hens who are about to turn 14 years old right now and a few just behind them. It was Bubba's time, but never makes it any easier. I'm sorry for your loss.
Awe, Patara, I get it. I have a herd of 40. I love them all. The time spent with them. The love given and receive both ways. If the day comes that I don't feel the attachment. The love for my animals, is the day this life stops. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that feeling and have experienced that pain. You are a good mama. You did right.

It's never easy on a homestead. We get so attached to our critters. Love y'all.
Oh I’m so sorry. We lost our Roo Thanksgiving morning. He fought off a fox. All hens made it through, so he did his job. Just was so heartbreaking. But, a few months prior a mama hatched out some of his offspring. Out of the three, one was a Roo that looks just like him. He has been dubbed junior. Unfortunately, our other Roo was still walking when we last saw him and in the midst of the chaos of trying to gather the hens he slipped away and we never could find him after searching the property. It was so hard to not offer him a resting place after serving us for so long. It’s hard and not something anyone will understand unless they live that life. We will be praying for comfort for you. ❤️

I'll never forget how I would pick up my Granddaughter from child care at the farm, how all the animals would greet me at car. Those days for us were such a blessing about 8 years.

Oh, Patara! As one Crazy Goat Lady to another, I more than feel what you are saying! Tears flowing here as I realize that my Herd Queen is living her final days in my barn, too. Thank the Good Lord that He allowed us to be blessed with these wonderful creatures. Bitter Sweet Life It Is!

Loss is hard… I’m so glad you are able to recall the good times, see her own family thriving, and know that you did all that was possible to keep your Bubba comfortable in her last days. (Also, as I feared that the local bear had gotten in - I was relieved that she died of natural causes.)
Wow this one, was difficult to watch! On this day, last year my mother was in the hospital with the bug. At that point it was wait and see. She went home 6 days later at 3 in the afternoon and 3 hours after my husband lost one of his close relatives. Shortly after that we lost our 16 year old, little 3 pound baby kitty. So, yeah, it's not easy. They are ALL family. With and without fur.

Awww, darn! I'm sorry you've lost your old girl. Sounds like she pulled her weight around the farm and it's so hard to lose an animal, whether it's live stock or a pet. I hope your week goes better. Blessings.
I raise Nubians, too, and still grieve the loss of my original mama goat. These animals are such an integral part of our lives, and we do our best to give them a good life.
Our animals give us so much more than food for our bodies. They fill our hearts, and help to knock down the rough edges of our personalities.

We,re working with our little 15 yr. old cat right now. The vet she had actually almost killed her,and maybe has. He gave her dog vaccine instead of feline. It hurts so bad. They are family. We,ve raised many an animal. They,re members of family. All i can say is get you something and hug it tight. Love those babies of hers. Let them see you bury her so they understand. Love never fails . And,its time to take in an animal that needs you. One that has no care. Love it. Be a blessing to it for your dear Bubba. Hug it tight.

I’m so sorry for your loss. They are family, these wonderful creatures…. Each and every one of my “critters” are part of my life. My heart hurts each time I lose one of my animals, no matter how small they are. My hens and roosters bring me joy and also pain when I lose them. I’m sure some folks would roll their eyes at the thought of tears shed for a chicken or goat, but not me, they are family.

I completely empathize with you Patara. I'm bonded with my animals too, especially my chickens. Some people think it's silly, but I love them and occasionally one dies and it's very sad! I make no apologies for loving the animals on my farm that provide for me and my family. Heart felt hugs to you.

RIP Bubba. God bless you Patera. We have our own pet cemetery with horses, ponies, dogs, cats and even chickens. My sister-in-law drove from Florida to Kentucky to bury her sweet dog in the cemetery. We love our pets and farm animals.
I'm so sorry! I totally understand how you are feeling about the loss of you herd queen. I hate the way people think farmers don't care about the livestock. There's no way you can work with them everyday and not have a connection to them.

This life seems to have many sorrows lately. I love my animals and I know you love yours too. The Bible says that a righteous man regards the life of his beast. I am thankful you regard your animals' lives. I pray comfort for you all and peace, knowing God loves them too.

My heart goes out to you, I too am a animal lover, and I have a cat who's 25 years old, she's blind now, but we watch to make sure she's still eating good, doing all the bodily functions she should be, and so far she's doing good for her age and being blind, of course we keep her in more because I am afraid that a dog, coyote or something like that will get her and she can't see them to run for cover or whatever, I cried when I lost my male miniature dachshund oh 5-6 years ago, but he's in my back yard , along with my mom's chiweenie and my dad's standard size dachshund. I cried over their deaths too. Of course I lost daddy 11 years ago, my mom 4 years ago and my husband 3 1/2 years ago, but they aren't in my yard lol, but death is hard on some of us, where it's a human or a animal.

Lost my sweet hybreed wolf in October...playing with me at lunch time Saturday...passed from an unknown infected wound Sunday afternoon. He was my protector and thought he was my great big baby...had him 10 years. The loss of our animals can be devastating. Hope you heart heals quickly knowing the love and care you gave your "baby".

Loss is hard. When you live on a farm and truly care for your animals it surly hurts when one of them passes away. I love how you continually show love and respect for your critters.
The tremendous Joy's of living on a homestead are punctuated with horrendous grief of loss.. even the loss of a chicken touches your soul...
But NONE of us whom homestead would trade this life for any other..

So very sorry to hear about Bubba. It is so hard to let go of our animal family. We are horse owners and have been for almost 30 years. We have 5 buried here on our property. We have lost some gems, and it is so very difficult, along with our beloved dogs and cats. God gives us animals for so many reasons. Proverbs 12:10 tells us that a righteous man has concern for the life of his animals. God bless you all. 💖

It’s never easy. I’m 75 and I still remember a blind pet bull calf we had to put down.

We out here who wish we knew you, are in complete sympathy with you and your family. We Thank you for sharing your triumphs and your tragedies. Those of us that have animals know how you feel. She left you a legacy. Who could ask for more than that? I keep journals on my companions. Birth dates, problems and special needs. It helps me to keep track. I can tell that you do too.
It is hard to convey the bond that develops between my animals and myself. I grieve deeply for them. As I can see that you do too.
We get to watch you interact with your animal friends. We can see that they love you deeply! I have met you, but unfortunately we really don't know each other. There really are no adequate words to express the pain of losing a beloved animal, so I won't even try. I have loved and lost SO many dogs over the years. All I can really say is "I understand". One in particular I still grieve for 20 years later. His ashes are in my bedroom. Yes, I have loved them all. But after 20 years I still grieve, and his ashes will join mine when I leave this earth. My heart goes out to you. I had that dog for 16 years. I really do understand, y'all.

The loss of our furry family members are not without heartache.
Recently one of our neighborhood deer laid down and tucked her head to sleep for the final time. She was just finished with her life down here, and is at rest now. God says in His word that their spirit returns to the earth when they pass away. We all belong to Him.
