Problem in Kolkata in case of any development including metro is political will and eligal encroachment. We forgot that in other parts of country, the respective State Government bear a portion of the total expenditure of metro projects as done by previous W.B government in case of extension from Tollygunge to Garia. Actually there no problem with our esteemed planers, the problem is with our political masters.The great example is Vidhyasagar Setup, salute to the planers. We are all not aware that there is an extra platform beneath the running platform in the Central Metro station for East-West Metro. The delay for long years would not occur if the original route is not altered by the political masters. Extension up to Dakhineshar was delayed by several years due to encroachment in railway lands. The same is somehow true for the ongoing Metro Projects. We, the people of Kolkata are lucky that Kolkata Metro is under the umbrella of mighty Indian Railways and it's Capital and Operational expenditure are bourned by Indian Railways and we are paying less fares in comparison to fares charged by other Metros in other cities .

Why do we still need drivers on these metro trains ? Since there's no lateral movement and most of the tracks are operated from the control stations, all the driver has to do is stop and start ! Can't that be done by a computer ? Most of the modern metro lines in China are fully automated - no drivers required ! We, Indians, are supposed to be so IT savvy ! Also why only some metro lines have platform screen doors (PSD) and some don't ? Whose brilliant planning is that ? I think Metro engineers must have travelled to places like Shanghai, Singapore etc., while drawing up the plans !

The new pact here is, Metro authority will take the responsibility of shifting and/or possibly replacing the existing water pipes first and then start working on actual construction work. Consider 5 years for pipe-replacing work. :)

It's regarding Kolkata traffic police and metro, Metro is asking for traffic diversion permit from KPD over E.M bypass to resume construction of metro viaduct and F.O.B for Beleghata station but KPD is declining it, while KPD is claiming Indian railway have continuously delayed construction at all diversion site way too beyond diversion permit deadline and E.M bypass being very important and busy road along with Indian railway history of such delays in wrapping up before permit deadline KPD won't issue permit until indian railway provide them solid assurance

Why do we still need drivers on these metro trains ? Since there's no lateral movement and most of the tracks are operated from the control stations, all the driver has to do is stop and start ! Can't that be done by a computer ? Most of the modern metro lines in China are fully automated - no drivers required ! We, Indians, are supposed to be so IT savvy !
Also why only some metro lines have platform screen doors (PSD) and some don't ? Whose brilliant planning is that ? I think Metro engineers must have travelled to places like Shanghai, Singapore etc., while drawing up the plans !

@@artismylife2286 No it is not out of plan. I heard it has been moved back to the original plan - along BT road. The new pact here is, Metro authority will take the responsibility of shifting and/or possibly replacing the existing water pipes first and then start working on actual construction work. Consider 5 years for pipe-replacing work. :)

There will be no platform gates in any of the lines except green line. Because Kolkata and Kolkata metro are the worst in India compared to other tier 1 cities

Metro should gradually stop naming those stations in the name of eminent personalities, Creates confusion. Enough. Instead adorn the stations with pictures/murals of their work and contribution towards the nation and society. Let the station be named keeping in mind the original name of the locality/place. Railway board should start thinking on this issue.

It's regarding Kolkata traffic police and metro, Metro is asking for traffic diversion permit from KPD over E.M bypass to resume construction of metro viaduct and F.O.B for Beleghata station but KPD is declining it, while KPD is claiming Indian railway have continuously delayed construction at all diversion site way too beyond diversion permit deadline and E.M bypass being very important and busy road along with Indian railway history of such delays in wrapping up before permit deadline KPD won't issue permit until indian railway provide them solid assurance

@@akashx naming of station in Orange line is very insensitive, while naming station after famous personality is way to honor them, give primary name to station in such fashion instead of secondary name, makes it difficult for regular commuters to identifying location based of such primary station name, like randomly calling Ruby as Hementa Mukherjee or Hilland park as Satyajit Ray would confuse people which one is which stop
