Traffic police of Calcutta performs an incredible job. Salute their effort. But reinstating of modern tram system is the need of the hour. Government must rethink about it.
I am born and brought up in Kolkata. Trams has special place in my heart as well but it has many shortcomings with very less benefit. 1.It is the biggest cause of two wheeler accident in Kolkata due to slippery metal lines. 2.Tram stops are in middle of the road with no sync with traffic lights so its a hazrat to get up and down from trams. 3. Trams are slow- it can pickup speed with time but breaks are not prompt either. 4. Power cut or power cable snaps means it will remain in the middle of the road unless power is restored. This causes traffic jams and unreliable mode of transport for passengers as well. Metro rails is its own problems but its far more effective than trams.
I'm assuming you have never been to Kolkata haha the traffic in the city is terrible with ambulances getting stuck for hours. It is a lawless matter. Trams didn't help much either. The imperative should be reinstating not trams but law, there should be absolutely no spitting, absolutely no public defecation/urination, and vehicles including motorbikes must follow the rules of the road, among many other things that first world countries incorporate in their everyday rules. If this were to be the case, the levels of utter degeneracy within our communities would dissipate and funding for traffic police could be diverted to the more important sectors of Kolkatas ecosystem such as road upkeep or district improvements. The aim appears to be not to be comparable with first world countries but to become a relatively better state to what west bengal is now, and at that sort of rate of improvement, we will never be good enough. Change the people and the people will change the country.

Make new line from taratala with interchange to purple line. It should go upto budge budge. After this is done make 4 major rrts routes 1. Kolkata-Bardhaman 2. Kolkata-Kharagpur 3. Kolkata-Krishnanagar 4. Kolkata-Haldia. All these ideas would be game changer. U could even intruduce vande metro from howrah to kharagpur and bardhaman and haldia. And make vande metro from sealdah to krishnanagar. That is if u don't have budget for rrts.
Metro should also connect the leftover parts of Old Calcutta. Even Kalyani & Srerampore Belt of Hooghly & Urban North Howrah should be connected to Metro
You should consider suburban railway as well when you are laying put the metro map. So people can get an idea of how the city accomadetes all modes of transports. You can title it as Chennai Urban Transport. You can also include if dedicated lane for bus is there as well. Gives so much realistic view of the whole city transport infrastructure.
Transportation in Kolkata is way better than any city in the World, specially the bus service, it goes anywhere and everywhere and it stops everywhere, and its dirt cheap. What else u want???? Excellent taxi services, auto services, metro, trams, rikshaws. I have been to many cities, there is no other cities in the World like it. If you have Rs50 in ur pocket u can go back and forth to any corner of the city just by bus. The cheap busses dont look too cool but it does the job pretty efficiently. Traffic management is best to none in India. Plus there are local trains running from South to North. Everything is dirt cheap except for Uber or Ola. But they offer two wheeler and even rikshaw services which are affordable.
Kolkata desparately needs more transport lines connecting the southern suburbs. The only lifeline here is the Sealdah South Railway which is crowded round-the-clock and becomes inhumanly crowded during office hours. With Baruipur becoming distict HQ of S-24Parganas district, the crowd is going to grow exponentially, but the existing railway has no scope for expansion. An alternative metro-like arrangement is urgently needed.
I'm from Kolkata and i feel so astonishing that how the blue line is created!!! I'm a regular commuter of blue line. Starting from my nursery now till my college!!
Kolkata was largest city in India after Independence but successive Communist governments ruined the city. TMC is also hopeless party. No future of West Bengal until 2026
WB has the sixth largest economy. Second fastest growing amongst large states. Kolkata is the third biggest by population and GDP. Forget politics. Growth of the city is happening more now than previously. It has nothing to do with politics but more to do with the fact that there was a dormant opportunity to setup industries which is happening gradually now because other cities like Bangalore and Mumbai are over saturated. Many new finance and IT companies are setting up shop here. Kolkata has the best public transport infra after Delhi and is the cheapest metro city to live in. Kolkata topped Indian cities in both real estate market sales and office space sold in the last two years. So please don't say the city and the state has no future. The future of the state and India both are bright.

It's very surprising that no one thinks about extending present Dakhineswar Metro upto Bali Station at Howrah, directly connecting Bardhaman Main, Bardhaman Chord, Dankuni & Hooghly regions through Railway lines and Roads. Probable Costing to implement this short stint but commercially viable Metro project from Dakhineswar to Bally Railway station will not be high at all, even metro lines, like E-W netro may go under the Hooghly river. Now, who will think for such important metro augmentation ?
Joining Howrah Station and Sealdah station with metro is one of the best Because those who travels that area regularly knows that how much time is consumed due to heavy traffic specially in office hours But by metro that will be resolved PS: I live in Howrah Maidan very near to the Howrah Maidan metro station

I am not a mamta fan by any means, and I lived in the city in the late 1980s. despite less vehicles it was way harder to travel, partly due to arteries dug out for metro. Now when I go its the most easy to travel of Indian metros. Fastest. Partly traffic management. partly building lots of flyovers. partly metro etc. Kolkata has developed amazingly. Each time I wonder if they are so poor how come there are new cool cafes and restaurants and bars popping up every time I visit. Malls are buzzing. lots of really creative and arty shopping. New town used to be like a desert, now its also kind of congested. What is fueling the growth? Definitely Kolkata under Mamta is a buzzing city where even the poor also manage a comfortable life. I think only corporate jobs are missing, but I predict in ten years things will change. Oh newtown looks great too.
For people commenting that there's far lesser congestion in Kolkata than Bangalore, you guys need to understand that Kolkata isn't handling an office going population of Bangalore. Hence, it looks good and rosy. The city will start facing problem if at all it develops, which probably is not on cards right now. It has become a glorified village, where people visit their parents once an year during vacation because everyone lives out of Kolkata.
No, metro lines are not needed. Whenever metro lines are constructed there is traffic congestion and dust. There are better ways to provide public transport like buses and trams on separate lanes.
Such a nice presentation. But some things I want to add that Kolkata is the only metro that comes under Indian Railway and others are Private that makes the kolkata metro fare is cheaper than the other metros. Because of a multiple political intervention and govt organizations the process is much slower for the last 2 decades however now it catch the pace. Also the orange Line will be the fastest metrorail in India. Kolkata traffic management us much better than Bengaluru, Mumbai. During peak hours or in shower time traffic and public transportation is horrible in Bengaluru. Delhi traffic is best in our country due to it's sheer metro network.

4. Extend pink line from barrackpore to kalyani.
5. Make new line from taratala with interchange to purple line. It should go upto budge budge. After this is done make 4 major rrts routes
1. Kolkata-Bardhaman
2. Kolkata-Kharagpur
3. Kolkata-Krishnanagar

U can write this to Kolkata metro, 1st see if they r planning to do it, then write to them
That underwater tunnel allready built and howrah station is also ready.. problem is happening in the middle boubajar area..
Can we just appreciate this guy. He made his whole channel revolving around metros. Still with his content fetch so many views.

After months of waiting finally u uploaded a video. I really love ur content, please be regular with ur videos.
Thank you for making this video I was waiting for this type of video about Kolkata metro

I'm from Kolkata and i feel so astonishing that how the blue line is created!!! I'm a regular commuter of blue line. Starting from my nursery now till my college!!
Great research work. Take love from kolkata ❤️
I can proudly say ... Kolkata has the most flagship metro network in INDIA ..
You are right

@@arkajyotimajumdar2533 who said you kolkata has best public transport after delhi...
Bangalore, Hyderabad and other metro cities have much more public transport... Kolkata doesn't even have a proper bus lane and only two metro lines...and east west metro is incomplete...yes it will gonna change in future but for now we are much behind.
@@arkajyotimajumdar2533 Still today, Kolkata has no modern citybus like Delhi and Mumbai and Kolkata metro look like kachra metro.

They will not because of over crowd unless they built another side by dide line
Really detailed video and crispy narration , keep it up bro !!
Joining Howrah Station and Sealdah station with metro is one of the best
Because those who travels that area regularly knows that how much time is consumed due to heavy traffic specially in office hours
But by metro that will be resolved
PS: I live in Howrah Maidan very near to the Howrah Maidan metro station
Good work man👏👏👏

Now phase 2 work is going on to infopark ( IT hub of kerala in kochi) and from aluva to extend till kochi airport
Great video. This comment is for the haters who are just criticizing anyone and unnecessarily. Jo log Kolkata me nhi hai one question for them - how many metro lines do you guys have in your state ? Second - thik se bhi chalti hai ?
Third - agree with the long period construction issue but there is always a reason which is continuously going on with the operative people and getting delay in this projects.
To bhai please be a difference rather than to be a dharti ka bojh
Good video, very informative and nice presentation!
The city of Joy....
My City ♥️♥️♥️
Very informative video 👍🏻👏🏻
For people commenting that there's far lesser congestion in Kolkata than Bangalore, you guys need to understand that Kolkata isn't handling an office going population of Bangalore. Hence, it looks good and rosy. The city will start facing problem if at all it develops, which probably is not on cards right now.
It has become a glorified village, where people visit their parents once an year during vacation because everyone lives out of Kolkata.

Kolkata needs another metro line connecting 3 parallel metro lines, starting from Ruby to Gariahat to Kalighat and then ending at the Taratala line.
No, metro lines are not needed. Whenever metro lines are constructed there is traffic congestion and dust. There are better ways to provide public transport like buses and trams on separate lanes.
@@yashagrawal88 ratio of road space is very low in Kolkata.
Thank you so much for this brief explanation!!💘
Thank you 😊🙏🏼 ❤
You are making awesome videos
