      Thank you Chantal. It's true. The continuous scan mode really makes it easy. I can only imagine how much longer my scan job would have taken if I would have needed to stop between each scan to respond to a prompt on the computer or press the button on the scanner. By being able to feed each photo in one after another, it make the job a snap. I guess that must be why Fujitsu calls it the ScanSnap. 😊🖨

    Awesome! Thanks @Sean - was looking to see a review from this model after watching your review for the iX1600 ! I'm torn between the iX1300 and the iX1600 and was wondering what your thoughts were? I'm loving the compact size of the iX1300 but want to know any major drawbacks if possible!

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      You are most welcome @SolidCactus. I appreciate it.👍 I'm actually in the process of making a comparison video to talk about the differences between the two but that video won't be ready for a while, and I wouldn't expect you to wait.
      I think that deciding between the iX1300 and iX1600 all depends on what you are intending to do with the scanner. For example, if your primary purpose is to scan standard documents, the iX1600 has a maximum daily duty cycle of 6,000 scans, whereas the iX1300 is only 3,500 scans. Also, the iX1600 holds 50 sheets in its ADF feeder whereas the iX1300 holds only 20. What I’m trying to convey here is that the iX1600 is much more of a pure, fast, high-quality document scanner. Of course it can scan photos and business cards and plastic cards and other things, but it doesn’t have a front return scan like the iX1300. As I show in this video, the iX1300 will scan basically anything that will go through the front return slot (as long as it isn't too tall, wide, or long). The iX1600 doesn't have this feature and isn't capable of scanning things like passports and projector slides and ski passes and some of the other stuff I scanned.
      Is that helpful? Can I ask what kind of scanning jobs you think that you'd be doing the most?

    • @BoxingCactuar
      @BoxingCactuar ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I’m thinking of having this scanner on my desk and being very compact for quick scans! I like the front load feature a lot but have one final question that will help my decision if you can answer! Can I use the ix1300 without a connected PC? Ideally I just want to send to the Scansoft Cloud without having to have it plugged in to a PC? Does it have a web interface I can manage it with?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@BoxingCactuar. This may be the scanner for you then, particularly with respect to being very compact and available for quick scans.
      As I understand it, the answer is yes. If you take a look at the following video from Fujitsu, it explains how their people have engineered ScanSnap Cloud to provide exactly the solution that you're describing: th-cam.com/video/aJgIYKcg7F4/w-d-xo.html. Personally, I like to keep my scans on my local computer which is backed up to Microsoft OneDrive so I've never actually used ScanSnap Cloud. However, based on our discussion here, and the fact that I plan to make additional Fujitsu videos, I think that I'll look further into it and get some firsthand experience. 👍
      Let me know if that is helpful. If you pick up a iX1300 and want to tell me about your experience using ScanSnap Cloud, I'd love that. It's a pleasure chatting with you about this. 🙂

      @@SeanDillman The main difference between the ix1300 and the ix1600 is that it doesn't have a display. Can the Snapscan app (Android & IPhone) do the same thing that I can set in the display on the ix1600? I would like a Snapscan App (Android & iPhone) Review.

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi @@MrDahoox . You are the second person to ask a question about this in the past week so I think that the time has come for me to make that video. Thanks for your feedback. I'll add a ScanSnap App review to my list.
      In the meantime, the ScanSnap App does sort of the the same thing as ScanSnap Home but instead of having access to various different scan profiles that you can use, you basically just need to set your settings and you only have one profile. Meaning, if you scan a bunch of documents using the Mobile App, and you set the file format, filename, color mode, image quality, scanning side, feed, blank page skipping, etc., you will be good to go. However, if you then switch over to scanning photos, you would need to go into the app and change the scan settings (assuming that you don't want to use the same settings to scan photos and you want to use to scan documents).
      Does that make sense? Is that helpful? A video would definitely make it easier for me to show this.

    Thank you, Sean, this was a great video. However, I just a good compact scanner for my line of work. One question I have seen that no one is answering in none of the videos for this scanner. Does it scan legal-size paper? Can this scanner be able to scan letters and legal paper together, in a mix? For what I do, this would have to be a scanner that can perform this duty. I like the speed and how portable it is, however, there are others that can perform the duty I need for the job for less but may not come out as well. This is why I trying to find a good portable scanner. Thank you again.

    How can I get info on using the ix1300 on Android? Especially on document organizing. What Android software beyond ScanSnap Connect is there?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Amit. The ScanSnap ix1300 is primarily designed to work with Windows and Mac computers, and it does not have native support for Android devices. However, you can use the ScanSnap Home mobile app to connect your Android device to the scanner and scan documents wirelessly.
      Here's how you can use the ScanSnap ix1300 with Android:
      1. Download and install the ScanSnap Home mobile app from the Google Play Store on your Android device.
      2. Connect your ScanSnap ix1300 to your Wi-Fi network using the Wi-Fi button on the scanner. Make sure your Android device is also connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
      3. Launch the ScanSnap Home mobile app on your Android device and tap the "+" button to add a new scanner.
      4. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your ScanSnap ix1300 from the list of available scanners.
      5. Once the scanner is connected, you can use the ScanSnap Home app to scan documents and save them to your Android device.
      Note that the ScanSnap Home mobile app is not as fully-featured as the desktop version of the ScanSnap Home software. You may not have access to all the features of the scanner, such as OCR (optical character recognition), and the scanning process may be slower than it would be on a desktop computer.
      As for other Android software beyond this, I'm not aware of any.

Is it possible to scan the entire class's assessments, and it use keywords ( students name) to file them into folders with that same name? If I highlight their name on the page is it possible for it to automatically put it in the correct folder? Thanks for your help!

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Amanda. That's a great idea. I think that the iX1300 may not have that level of functionality. For something with this level of sophistication, you would need to look at something like the fi-8170 (which I also have a video on). With an iX1300, if your student assignments had each name in a prominent location on the document, and if it was typed in (not handwritten in pen or pencil), the ScanSnap Home software may be able to auto-detect the information and use it to name files; however, this is not a guarantee, and it would not automatically route it to a folder for each student. That being said, I do believe that this could be achieved using the fi-8170 and the larger suite of available software. Is that helpful?

    Hi Sean! I wanted to ask if you would recommend me buying this product
    I saw your video and it seems to fit all of my needs - I have a ton of mail and other random documents I want to scan before shredding to save them digitally, however since you own the device do you think the ix1300 is the right fit for the job? Or is there a better and/or cheaper alternative?

    • @SeanDillman

      Hi there. I suppose it is difficult for me to say for sure that it will meet your needs without knowing more but I can say that I love my iX1300. I use it all the time. I think that it offers a lot of value for the price. I am not sure if there is a better/cheaper alternative, because something cheaper may be of lower quality. You mention scanning mail and random documents. This scanner makes very short work of most scanning jobs. As I show in my video, there was almost nothing that I couldn't scan with it. As long as I could fit it in the machine, it scanned it. So in short, I can't offer a guarantee or anything but I am fairly confident that it would work well for you, based on your description of what you want it for, and based on how well it works for me. I hope that this is helpful. Thank you for asking me your questions. 😊

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@RankingMaster11 You are most welcome. Please excuse my delay getting back to your follow-up question. When it comes to items that come in the mail, it all depends on the size (how wide they are and how thick they are). However, generally speaking, when I receive standard letter sized mail that has a few pages in it, like an electrical bill or a bank statement, I can usually scan the entire envelope first without opening it. After I open it, I scan the individual pages. As for straightening the pages, I sort of try to run my hand over them to get the folds out a little bit, but they aren't really a problem. In short, the iX1300 scans regular mail items just fine. 😊

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @@RankingMaster11. Please excuse the delay in my response. Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel! In my experience, it does have a bit of an issue with pulling two documents at the same time when they are folded from the mail. Whenever I get a letter from my bank, it usually contains a two or more page document which I usually need to unfold and try to straighten. If I don't try to straighten out the pages, the iX1300 will often pull the pages all as one page and fail to scan each page. So YES. This is an issue. 😊

    You mentioned in the comments that it can scan passports. Passports are really thick. Could you let me know if you are really sure? Can you make a video of it?

      Hi Lutfor. I actually did make a video about scanning passports using this scanner. I did not yet post the video as being public because I was waiting to finish my fi-8170 review. Here is the link for the TH-cam video: th-cam.com/video/0jNaW2D30eo/w-d-xo.html
      What a happy coincidence that you are asking about this and I have the video ready to go. 🙂

    Never going back to HP after I got my Fujitsu, years of wifi connectivity issues with HP is unacceptable

    • @SeanDillman

      I agree. I've personally never had a connectivity issue with any of my ScanSnap scanners. They work perfectly, either connected by a USB cable or wirelessly.
      On another note, I checked out your channel. I love it. I saw a big grey squirrel this morning. I walked a big circle around it so that I didn't disturb it. 😃🐿👍

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Krauss. You bet. According to the Fujitsu website, "A3 . . . document sizes are required to be folded in half." Here is a link to the website: www.fujitsu.com/ca/en/products/computing/peripheral/scanners/soho/ix1300/#tab-b-03

    Sir, Can Scan Paper F4 ?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there. My understanding is that F4 paper is 210 mm × 330 mm (8.27 in × 13.0 in). According to the manual for the iX1300, it supports a paper width of 50.8 to 215.9 mm (2 to 8.5 in.) and a length of 50.8 to 355.6 mm (2 to 14 in.), or even up to 863 mm (34 in.) for long page documents. This would suggest to me that the answer is yes, the iX1300 can handle F4 paper. 👍

    Scansnp Scanners lack a TWAIN driver. How important is TWAIN?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lutfor. You likely already know that TWAIN is a driver (software) that runs between a piece of hardware (like a scanner) and another piece of software (like bookkeeping software). Whether TWAIN is important to you would depend on whether you would want to use the iX1300 to directly scan into a piece of third-party software. For example, pharmacists may use TWAIN to scan medication prescriptions directly into specific software so that they can work with the information and fill orders. Accountants may use TWAIN to scan tax documents directly into tax software so that they can work with that information to prepare tax returns. In these instances, they may be using a scanner like a Fujitsu fi-8170. There are countless other examples of ways that people may want to use TWAIN, but these are a few. If you want to share more with me about what you are scanning and why you are scanning it, I can ideally give you better advice on whether TWAIN may be important for you. Thanks Lutfor. 🙂

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @@lutforrahman8809. Great. Thank you for that information. That is mostly what I do with my scanner too. For me, I never find that I need TWAIN. That being said, I am starting a new position soon and will be spending time reviewing the fi-8170, which is TWAIN compatible. Keep an eye out for my future review video. I will mention if I ended up making any use of the TWAIN functionality. I will also be seeing if it may be handy in my new position, which will be more litigation focused.

    Why isn’t a HP scanner on the list?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your question. Which list did you mean? Is there a HP scanner that you would recommend?

    • @kzawada1674
      @kzawada1674 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanDillman I don't have one in mind. I want to go paperless and was searching for recommendations & I am super impressed with what you can do with this scanner I've heard of. I think I will get it.
      The only reason I ask about HP is because I have a Laser Jet and it has a scanner, but it is large and cumbersome. I was surprised that a big name like HP did not appear. Maybe they just don't have anything that is small portable and fast like this Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1300. I can only see HP ScanJet Pro.
      This ScanSnap iX1300 seems great.
