I wish I would have had a Father like you. All of that knowledge that you can pass down to your son is invaluable. God bless and thanks for all that you do.
Jeff, I remodeled my entire basement, foyer and installed a powder room (from rough in) just from watching your videos and learning from your techniques. Thank you for your humble, giving attitude and tell Max to get to work!
Jeff, this is the kind of informative video that changes people's engagement with their properties. You demystify what look like complicated, impenetrable systems Thank you
Man you are amazing, you cannot even believe how many of my friends and myself too completed a ton of projects simply following your great videos. Let the God give you many years of healthy and wealthy life so you can share your knowledge and educate others. Cheers man.
Love the channel Jeff. Learned a lot about plumbing and electric, which I rarely get to do as a carpenter and a roofer on a crew. For he who wants to know: You can pull those off without a zipper. Just start from the edge. Putting them back on, is where the zipper is invaluable. In a pinch, you don't have one, you can cut a 2 or 3 inch piece of vinyl siding, turn it upside down, and use it's lock to pull on the other lock. Avoid sliding it though, and watch your fingers.
Let's say you thought it had cooled down and you moved your Weber grill next to the garage after using it and the next day you found it had melted some sections of the siding. Not saying I did it, but I sure did find this tool handy when it came time to replace some melted siding. Easy-peasy!
That’s truly amazing. I have that tool but never knew how to use it. I have a loose side of a 1 panel, and a couple of years ago I just screwed it back on. My biggest problem was never knowing what was under the siding or how to install in the first place. Great video… my wife wants me to head out and fix it now. 😸
Thank you John! Need to replace a part of my siding for the house. My inspector stated finding the color matching my house may be the challenging part. Hopefully I find the matching color.
Thanks a ton! Recently bought first home and find the backyard extension is freeeeezing now that it's -10 outside. I need to poke around the siding and interior receptacles for wrap & insulation
Thank you for this advice. It wasn't a hockey puck that bashed that part of the siding, but a tree branch carried by the infamous Iowa derecho wind from this past August! So glad I was able to replace that middle piece.
When I learned this tool exists I was no longer afraid of siding repair. I relocated the fireplace vent with ease without damaging the siding this fall and in spring I used it to remove good siding, and seal the poor garage builder job. It really works like a charm and its one of those specialized tools that you may think are not needed, but at price point everybody should have one just in case.
Bought one a few years ago and fixed some of our siding issues. Remembered where I kept it (small miracle) but needed a primer on how to use it. Nice video with bonus tips on the exterior/interior repair. Thanks
You're the best! We have 3 panels that have been damaged by rocks from "someone" (hubby) flying through the yard with the riding lawnmower. We have a few panels so this will be a whopping $10.00 repair. Yeah! Now if only the rock damage to my car door was that inexpensive.
Top notch video my friend. On my way to grab a tool (sorry don’t have time to wait for Amazon). Well done on the video. And yes, I had an outside water hose go bad and I fixed it through the siding instead of ripping out my drywall. Luckily caught it when I turned the water back on
Jeff, I’ve used the siding tool to remove the plastic screen and glass molding that holds the screen and glass in place on my storm door. So easy to remove the molding that way, rather than using a screwdriver that often damages the molding. Pictures available if needed.
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY Well, my shed doesn't have a bathroom in it! So, if you can build a shed and follow Home RenoVision DIY videos , then you can build a house! Thank you! 😍
Sheds in the US/Canada are built to a much higher spec than here in the UK. They usually have options for insulation/vapour barrier/double glazing etc. In the UK all you get for a standard shed is 1x2" framing, with crappy 10mm cladding...plus a Perspex window (hole) in the side 😂
Ottawa Canada represent!!!! Bought a house in Vanier, Ottawa and you have saved my life man! I have learned almost everything from you!, you have no idea! I would love to send you an email from the stuff I have done! you are amazing an inspiring.
Great video. I'm about to re zip some siding on the end of my garage. I was disappointed to see NO exterior sheathing on the house you used as an example. I hope there was, at least, some steel banding used to keep the walls square. Either way, this was a great learning video. Thanks.
This video is awesome. I have a piece I need to replace where it butts up to the top of an exterior door that has right-angle vinyl flashing next to the door's trim; is there anything tricky about addressing that?
I’m not sure I’ve seen it in any videos so far, but perhaps could go over how to fix joints in an older house where the tape appears to have twisted (cold climate-Michigan) how to fix this prior to painting the ceiling. I’ve watched the drywall videos and painting videos 5-10x each at least getting ready!
I hate vinyl siding! Especially when the previous owners didn't put any tar paper or house wrap to protect the house before putting up the vinyl! Vinyl creates a moist environment for the house if no protection is added. So now I have a bowed out wood and rot & nails won't stay in. This is at the A frame where you can't reach unless you have a lift! I'm in Central NY.
Hahah I was just playing on my backyard rink just missed the bet and cracked the siding now I’m gonna try and fix it this summer or whenever I can thanks for this
Finally replaced the damaged piece of siding that destroyed my drone and that my drone damaged. It was a piece of cake thanks to you - and the tool. Thanx!
Vinyl clading is useless for blocking outside noise. Its no better than putting a plastic bag around your house. If noise is a problem dont put this crap on your house. It does look great however and this is another great video. Sincere thanks for sharing your excellent skills and thumbs up.
My son has a spider phobia and he decided to spray spiders scuttling along our siding with OFF. The DEET in the OFF discoloured the vinyl siding and damaged it. Unfortunately he didn't notice this until he had doused spiders with OFF in 3 areas on the outside of our house. Of course, this occurred all along the front of the house in highly visible areas. I will be buying HIM this tool and will have him watch this video before he replaces the vinyl pieces.
Thank you for this. Will that tool work on the vinyl J-trim around windows and doors? I plan to move my laundry room so the dryer will be several feet over on the same wall. I was trying to figure out how to replace the siding where the dryer vent comes out (I have some pieces left over). Of course I'll have to figure out how to remove the old duct, fill the hole, put some sort of protective wrap over the filled hole (or maybe zip tape over the filled hole), and put two new pieces of siding on to replace the ones that were cut for the duct. Although, I suppose if I could find a vinyl wall block large enough I could cover the hole that way. But replacing the siding will look nicer.
Fabulous! I am getting my natural gas boiler removed in the spring and I was wondering how to repair the intake and exhaust holes. I should be able to replace the entire piece of siding if I can find that tool. Thanks.
Enjoyed your backyard floating deck building video with your son! I have Aluminium siding that has been popped loose due to high wind. Will this neat tool work equally as well on Al siding? Can I glue back the loose siding so that it won’t come loose again?
Jeff, how can I mount a 2x4 against vinyl siding to screen in my patio? Must the siding be cut out in order to butt a 2x4 against the wall surface behind the siding? Any Insight appreciated.
Hi Jeff, Any recommendation/tips on changing vinyl siding if they are at a height? Where to stack ladder on wall as ladder ends can damage vinyl if stacked against it.
Does the same tool work for aluminum siding.. My hunch is that it would work for removal.. but I don't think the aluminum can be "snapped" back on like the vinyl.. was watching another video, and they drilled and used nails to secure the uppermost piece of an aluminum siding repair (after cutting off the nailing flange). Has that been your experience? Thanks
Man I need to build one of these right now to hide some sprinkler wires behind the siding. All I got is one of those stakes that break off that metal edging, and a hammer. I'm gonna try and bend one up, will save my bacon!
I have a non-related question. I have a plaster ceiling thats cracking and I'd like to not deal with repairing plaster. Is there a simpler fix/way to drywall over it?
You make it look easy, but would like to see a whole section of a wall done. Had to remove here to redo like what you explained. In my case it was electrical not plumbing. Putting the siding back on has been incredibly challenging... with the tool you promoted. Looks easy, but is not.
I have some siding bulging under the window on the 3rd level is there a way I could maybe just open the window an push it in with my hands from the window? It seems to be bulging from the top portion of that particular row and just in a small section of that row.
Jeff - awesome story about plumbing on the "wrong side of the vapor barrier." Can you do a video that explains how to fix that (I have a shower with the plumbing in the outside wall :(. THANKS
I wish I would have had a Father like you. All of that knowledge that you can pass down to your son is invaluable. God bless and thanks for all that you do.
Wow, thank you
I second that
I third that! He’s amazing!
Yep!! And your kids KIDS! Too!!
I fourth that what a stella man and yes I would of loved a dad like him his children are very lucky
You should get the highest medal from Canada...you have helped Canadians with your videos way more than any politicians ever did to their citizen!!

You demystify what look like complicated, impenetrable systems
Thank you
Happy to help!
This is awesome. Too much heat from my grill warped a small piece and now I feel confident I can get this job done. Thank you.
I am in the exact same situation. Looks a lot easier than I thought it would be. How did it go for you?
Jeff, thank you from Nashville, TN for your videos. You are a life saver and such a blessing to all those who watch.

Thanks for the video. I couldn't get the tool to work. I didn't realize all you had to do was pull down. So easy once you know. Thanks again!

Just the video I needed. Have a piece of siding that got damaged during a straight line windstorm. Seems like an easy DIY fix all of a sudden!
Thanks for posting this, It looks a lot simpler than what I imagined it would be to replace a piece mid wall.
Good video shot showing exactly what you are doing with the tool. Thanks
I think I love you😍😍😍I have damaged siding to replace and didn't know how to match. You the bomb!
Happy to help Deanna! Cheers!

This guy is amazing! I've learned a ton from him over the years. Yet another excellent video. Thank you.
I love your videos! Just bought that tool today. Have to remove a basement window to fit in furniture then put the window back in along with siding.
Thanks a ton! Recently bought first home and find the backyard extension is freeeeezing now that it's -10 outside. I need to poke around the siding and interior receptacles for wrap & insulation
Wow... My wife and I just bought a house so I've been researching all sorts of DIY. fix-it projects in your videos are almost always number one

My kid cracked the vinyl and this is the first video that came up when I searched how to replace vinyl. Thank you!
Bought one last year when I resided my house after a tornado. Best $10 I have ever spent!
Bought one a few years ago and fixed some of our siding issues. Remembered where I kept it (small miracle) but needed a primer on how to use it. Nice video with bonus tips on the exterior/interior repair. Thanks
That was genius going from outside the wall, I would have never thought to do that. This tool is a must have.
Love your honest work ethic, you don’t find that here in the U.S. anymore.
I just smashed my siding (installed 4 months ago) when my snowblower was thrown sideways after hitting a chunk of ice. I will be buying this product.
Dude you are a Master of all trades
Wiped out a chunk of mine with the weed wacker last week..thanks for the exact tool I’ll need!
You're the best! We have 3 panels that have been damaged by rocks from "someone" (hubby) flying through the yard with the riding lawnmower. We have a few panels so this will be a whopping $10.00 repair. Yeah! Now if only the rock damage to my car door was that inexpensive.

All of your videos are just GOLD thanks again for all you do!
Thanks for the straightforward vid. Also, great tip about the code/color being printed on the inside of the panel. Didn't know that!
Awesome, thank you. I had no idea it was that easy. Life just got a little better. I purchased this tool through your link. Cheers
In Scandinavia we use wood siding. Lasts a lifetime, shoot as many pucks as you want
i knew there had to be a way. Just ordered the tool thx for the info. Ive got a panel that pulled away.
I needed to replace one piece of siding I did what you did and it worked perfectly thank you
Top notch video my friend. On my way to grab a tool (sorry don’t have time to wait for Amazon). Well done on the video. And yes, I had an outside water hose go bad and I fixed it through the siding instead of ripping out my drywall. Luckily caught it when I turned the water back on

just bought a house, home inspection is next Wednesday. You bet we'll take the siding off and check for housewrap now!
Wish we’d done this. Found out no house wrap after a wind storm pulled off a few panels.
Really good demonstration for the replacement for Vinyl Siding. Step by step! That is really cool!!!!!!!!
You have one of the best channels on TH-cam I have learned so much by watching you , Thank you so much .
Wow, thank you!
Wow I was wondering how to fix my siding 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 be blessed
Knowledge is power! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You are appreciated much more than can imagine ! Once again THANKS SO MUCH!
i wish i had an uncle like Jeff. Knowledge and trust all the way
Cheap enough 👍 easy to make one as well. A knife for trimming hooves is very similar to that tool. Would work.👍
When you think about it. A house is just a big shed. When he pulled away at the siding it reminded me of my backyard shed
If you can build a shed you can build a house!
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY Well, my shed doesn't have a bathroom in it! So, if you can build a shed and follow Home RenoVision DIY videos , then you can build a house! Thank you! 😍

Kudos to this guy, very knowledgeable.
Thanks for the tip. I'm getting ready to replace siding and skirting. Question, how do you remove the corner caps?
Just discovered this channel. Absolutely fantastic and truly educational.
Seeing a bit of this up in AK. Would love to see a video about heating. Repairing or upgrading baseboard heat vs alternatives.
I literally don't know how I would remain a homeowner without you Jeff... lol
I just bought the tool and will see if it works and let you know
Excellent tutorial. Right to the point and clear instructions!

You remind me of Red Green. My favorite show ever. You're prettygood too!
Love your videos anytime I need to fix something that I dunno how to fix I always try to find if you did a video on it
Finally a useful video from you. I'm typically a hater but you won me over here.

Thank you for the nice video. QUESTION: What is the best way to cur vinyl siding (to length) so I would get a nice straight edge, please? Thanks
