So far it’s perfect. This type of vinyl patch is the same technology as vinyl wraps on millions of vehicles all over the country. They stand up to snow and rain and sleet and sun and hundred degree plus temperatures, etc. it’s a good product.
With some scavenging, you might find used, prefaded siding. I have always patched with leftover siding at least 1 foot longer than the hole. I trim off the top just enough to slide into the upper lap joint. Usually, the repair piece can almost snap into place. A little trimming of the bottom lip might be necessary. Secure it with caulk. Done!

I'd use spray foam in the can to fill the void first, allowing it to expand and fully dry then trim it down flush with surface for some surface support for the flimsy sticker covering. Otherwise as soon as something comes into contact with it it's going to be ruined without any type of solid backing.
My siding use to be a darker blue. Now it's a very very close to white. Is better to replace or paint. Not sure if the previous installer did a great job...spaces around the top...thanks...
If you paint your siding and it’s vinyl siding, you have to do a little research and make sure you’re buying the correct paint. Because vinyl siding expands and contracts so much it can mess up your paint job. But if you have wood or aluminum siding, it’s easier to paint of course. I have seen vinyl sided painted successfully before. However if you’re complaining about your siding’s appearance and gaps, that is a problem. The only way to get a near perfect finish is to replace it. Replacing vinyl siding will make your exterior of your house look almost like a brand new house 👍🏼😊
Aluminum is tricky. You can try to bend them out with only limited success. If you can find a replacement piece, I would do that. If it’s the individual corner pieces, you can buy rolled aluminum and form them into shape to cover it. But if it’s the full length aluminum piece, all you can do is try to bend it. Have you tried Bondo yet? That could fill in an indentation and dents 100%?and sanded and that will take care of it.

Thank you for this information. I need to patch several areas but thought I would have to replace the actual siding. This solution is something I can do myself.😅😊
I think the remarks would be a lot better if you would have color matched to make it blend better and worked the thin vinyl patch in with a hard smooth object like the rounded end of a screwdriver handle so the grain shows more. The color being too dark and people without the ability to visualize how it could look being the main problem.
Thanks for watching. Yes I’ve also noticed that flexseal is coming out with a line of extremely durable tapes that have different colors available 👍🏼🛠️
I found a part of my house that was hidden behind a bush and replaced some of the vinyl there (it did not match exactly) but nobody sees it, then used the piece I removed and used it for the patch.
Have you already tried vinegar?, that’s a pretty universal cleaner that works magic. I could also see baking soda lightly mixed in a water solution. There are a ton of commercial cleaners for siding in the home improvement stores you could try. Good luck 🏠

Do they make a tool to remove siding and I would almost say one piece of siding is just as cheap and we'll look a heck of a lot better. Actually I think the patch sticks out more than the crack or hole. Just replace it.
Hey crafters....Cricut or Siser both make outdoor permanent vinyl in a ton of colors available online or your craft store. I would make a butterfly or ladybug vinyl decal!!! But this is a quick temp solution until you can replace the siding!

@@HomeRapidRepair Yeah, I think for this product to work it has to be a perfect identical color match. If it's off even the slightest, it will stand out like a sore thumb.
@nickp3173 Then, think of the vinyl patch as a stop-gap fix until you can get to replacing the damaged piece of siding. The "look" is not as important as keeping the weather out until you can do the repair to your statsfaction. Calling a siding company to do the repair(s) will probably cost $500.00 or so. Forget that!
@@charlesvancella524 I agree with everything you said. And yeah, I know personally I would never pay $500 for a cracked piece of siding, but I have heard firsthand stories that some people do 😳💰
I've lived in brick or stucco houses my entire life. I'll be sure to avoid that plastic siding if and when I buy another home. There must be something more durable they could use!
This “plastic” vinyl siding is everywhere. Even at commercial buildings and multi million dollar homes. It’s relatively cheap for the builder to install it and goes on very quickly.
I just poked a hole in my second floor siding last week… i didn’t know the nails were pulled out a bit and the siding was buckling. I leaned out the 2nd story window and pushed it and a nail broke a hole through. I patched it temporarily with aluminum tape that looks bad but worked…Im going to pull and replace a few feet of the piece since i have to re nail it. Its white.
While that product could be an inexpensive quick fix, I am curious to know how long it lasts in the elements. And I hate to agree with the others, but the color match is horrible. It does look like a piece of duct tape stuck on it. I'm off to your next video to see if you resolve it with color matching. I do however have the item in my shopping cart.🤞
I hear ya for sure 👍🏼 It’s a good easy solution for people that don’t have time to mess with a more complicated repair or paying a contractor hundreds of dollars
Well, anytime I brought my samples to the paint store. They never matched it perfectly at all so chances of that happening are zero but I would definitely use this if I had siding I live in Tucson so everyone out here has stucco, which would make it very easy to fix, this is a good fix if you don’t want to replace a section which would look stupid
1. Clean the area Remove any loose material around the damaged area without gouging the boards. 2. Apply a patch Use a fiber cement repair kit to create a patch that matches the contours of the board. You can use a putty knife to apply the patch material. 3. Let it dry Allow the patch to dry completely, which can take a few hours or overnight. 4. Sand and smooth Lightly sand the patch to smooth out any rough edges or bumps. 5. Paint Use a paint made for fiber cement siding to match the original color of the siding. If there are multiple cracked boards or boards falling off, you might need to replace the entire siding.

@HomeRapidRepair I was born in 77. I grew up in the 80ies and miss it completely!! That patch is probably a last resort kinda thing. Although I think if you can match the color up it would probably be hardly noticeable.
doesn't look good, insert some backing strips with adhesive through the hole and pull flush against the backside. You can glue a nailhead on to the strips so you can pull it outward until glue grabs. Once you have some backing strip installed fill with bondo etc. You can even engrave texture into the bondo. then paint. if paint does not match use acrylic paints to tint , walmart has small tubes of acrylic in craft section.

Great comments. Thank you 👍🏼😊
Great video
Thanks! You win for best comment of the day 🥇😊
Thank you for this information. I need to patch several areas but thought I would have to replace the actual siding. This solution is something I can do myself.😅😊
Thanks for watching. Good luck. You got this 👍🏼😊🏠
I think the remarks would be a lot better if you would have color matched to make it blend better and worked the thin vinyl patch in with a hard smooth object like the rounded end of a screwdriver handle so the grain shows more. The color being too dark and people without the ability to visualize how it could look being the main problem.
I agree with all your comments. You’re smarter than the average bear 👍🏼😊
Where can you get this product at?
On Amazon Siding Mending Patch: amzn.to/4b8LmyM
I had a few holes that I just put a small spare piece of siding over. It was not in a noticeable place so it was fine.
Awesome. Great work 👍🏼🛠️🏠
I bought a roll of white gorilla tape for mower hole. Works great
Thanks for watching. Yes I’ve also noticed that flexseal is coming out with a line of extremely durable tapes that have different colors available 👍🏼🛠️
What's a mower hole.
I found a part of my house that was hidden behind a bush and replaced some of the vinyl there (it did not match exactly) but nobody sees it, then used the piece I removed and used it for the patch.
Smart example and real life experience. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🏠🛠️
Looks like a perfect match~!
Maybe not… but I still appreciate you taking a few moments out of your day to watch my video 😊🏠
Any recommendations for an oil stain on white siding? It's olive oil specifically.
Have you already tried vinegar?, that’s a pretty universal cleaner that works magic. I could also see baking soda lightly mixed in a water solution. There are a ton of commercial cleaners for siding in the home improvement stores you could try. Good luck 🏠
Nice color match dude 😂
Thanks Perfection 🥇👍🏼
All you have do is repaint the whole house. Duh!
I've just cut a little strip of extra siding. I then cut off of the siding strip with the nail holes. I then snap it over the hole.
Wait how are you snapping it in? You’re just using the profile shape of the siding to snap it in? 🏠🛠️
@@HomeRapidRepair the bottom lip snaps over the exiting siding and then I glue it with caulk or silicone. I still have repairs I did 20 plus years ago and it's still in place.
@@tripplebeards3427 Nice. I may make a little demo video showing this method...it sounds very smart to me. Thanks
@@HomeRapidRepair I just winged it one day years ago. Ot was to cover up holes that I bolted a mail box to the house. Also to cover up brakes and cracks. Works out great.
@@HomeRapidRepair sounds good let me know
My wife does Cricut crafts (a bunch of it is adhesive vinyl) I wonder if that would work in a similar fashion?
It probably would as long as it’s high-quality vinyl. This is literally the same material they wrap commercial vehicles with.
Do they make a tool to remove siding and I would almost say one piece of siding is just as cheap and we'll look a heck of a lot better. Actually I think the patch sticks out more than the crack or hole. Just replace it.
Yes, I agree with you. I think all your points are very well reasoned and valid.
Here’s my link to a simple siding removal tool: amzn.to/4dVBWrf
Hey crafters....Cricut or Siser both make outdoor permanent vinyl in a ton of colors available online or your craft store. I would make a butterfly or ladybug vinyl decal!!! But this is a quick temp solution until you can replace the siding!
Now you’re flexing your creativity 🏠
Aren't almost all stickers vinyl now. I just went thru all my stickers after seeing this, only 1 was paper. the other 200+ were all vinyl.
I’m sure you’re right. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊
Hail put over 100 holes in my siding. Took my roof out too. Insurance is paying for some of the roof and none of the siding, so I'm going to have to fix it this way.
I’m sorry to hear that about your house. Thanks for watching 😊🛠️🏠
@@HomeRapidRepair I started putting on the patches this morning and found some of these panels way too damaged, so I'll be back to watch how to replace them, this winter when it cools off a little. lol
I feel like it sticks out worse to the eye than the crack did. I'd rather just replace the vinyl siding in my opinion. My new home has this same sort of damage in a small area from a baseball.
I do a lot of home inspections and EVERYONE has cracked vinyl siding somewhere 😳
@@HomeRapidRepair Yeah, I think for this product to work it has to be a perfect identical color match. If it's off even the slightest, it will stand out like a sore thumb.
@@HomeRapidRepair True. I see mostly weed whacker damage and the vinyl gets melted from hot grills too close to the siding.
And yeah, I know personally I would never pay $500 for a cracked piece of siding, but I have heard firsthand stories that some people do 😳💰
We now know how to use common scissors. One thing he is right about...I can do this myself. I have scissors!
Its white.
Oh you lucked out with white siding for sure. Good luck 😊🛠️🛠️
Used your link thank you so much ❤
You’re awesome 😎👏🏼
Did he fix a boat with it also?
Yes and yes…Thanks for watching and taking time out of your day for responding to my video. I appreciate it.
Thanks you that’s is just what I’m was looking for.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm thrilled that the video was what you were looking for.
I hear ya for sure 👍🏼
It’s a good easy solution for people that don’t have time to mess with a more complicated repair or paying a contractor hundreds of dollars
Great idea.
Thanks! Thanks for watching and taking time out of your day for responding to my video. I appreciate it.
Is it supposed to not blend? This repair sticks out like a sore thumb.
Viewers Hated my Siding Fix - What Went Wrong?
th-cam.com/video/t8c5IsWDHTM/w-d-xo.html
Well, anytime I brought my samples to the paint store. They never matched it perfectly at all so chances of that happening are zero but I would definitely use this if I had siding I live in Tucson so everyone out here has stucco, which would make it very easy to fix, this is a good fix if you don’t want to replace a section which would look stupid
Thank you for watching and your comments 😊🛠️
Thank you for the information! I’m going to get what you recommended and try it.
Fantastic 👍🏼✅😊
our mobile home has cement board siding...how can we fix it...2000 built
1. Clean the area
Remove any loose material around the damaged area without gouging the boards.
2. Apply a patch
Use a fiber cement repair kit to create a patch that matches the contours of the board. You can use a putty knife to apply the patch material.
3. Let it dry
Allow the patch to dry completely, which can take a few hours or overnight.
4. Sand and smooth
Lightly sand the patch to smooth out any rough edges or bumps.
5. Paint
Use a paint made for fiber cement siding to match the original color of the siding.
If there are multiple cracked boards or boards falling off, you might need to replace the entire siding.
Use this fast set Bondo to patch. It works so good: www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZKQH99B/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_GPXS9EMQE5QR4M3GFZKH?linkCode=ml2&tag=homerapidrepa-20
I Think you can only pull this off with white Sidings
Thanks for watching
Great information on small holes
Thanks for watching and the positive comment 😊🛠️
It looks so beautiful!!!😅
I was alive in 1980 too 👍🏼😊
@HomeRapidRepair I was born in 77. I grew up in the 80ies and miss it completely!! That patch is probably a last resort kinda thing. Although I think if you can match the color up it would probably be hardly noticeable.
@@Wannagobackto1980 I’m from 1972….the 80’s were truly amazing.
Yes it’s just a quick patch for someone with no home improvement skills 😊
@HomeRapidRepair Yeah. That makes more sense.
Will this work on a vinyl fence?
Yes, it should work well on a vinyl fence.
doesn't look good, insert some backing strips with adhesive through the hole and pull flush against the backside.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
You could fill with spray foam and shave it flush when dry.
@@cyclepowered8799 I’ve seen that before, pretty rough but yes it’s an option
@@HomeRapidRepair Just for backing. Vinyl patch over top.
Think that this product might work on new mobile home skirting. Lawn maintenance company weed eater put a few holes in our new skirting.
Thanks for watching. Yes 100% it will work on mobile home skirting. But of course it will get damaged again if they keep whacking into it…
cool. I will try it and let you know what happens
I hope it works out for you, but if not, let me know either way. I like to hear both sides of the story 😊🏠

I'm going to pass this tip on to an apartment maintenance guy. His building needs it.
Ok, cool. Thanks for watching
how do you match the color?
I just guessed with spray paint. But you can take a siding sample to the paint store for a color match 👍🏼
I used a strip of duct tape. 😁 Cheap and EZ. I got beige tape and it nearly matches my siding.
Was it Gorilla Tape or similar brand?
@@HomeRapidRepair Just colored duct tape I got at an art supply store. You can get small rolls at the dollar store ($1.25).
Great tip.
Glad it was helpful! 😊🛠️
At least it helps keep water out from behind it. For a cheap temporary fix, it looks like it would be good!
I agree 100% 😊🏠
Not so sure that the surface will match after a period of time. ?
