I've had my Samsung T5 for over a year... or even two now. Best decision ever! But 1 to isn't enough anymore, so I'm thinking of upgrading. The price is high, ofc, but so is the comfort that comes with it.
Bought WD SN550 NVME recently, installed it in my SSK 10GBPS enclosure. Managed to transfer 200GB of data in 4 minutes. Have a couple of T5s as well..they're pretty good.

NOTE: Testing these SSDs plugged in to USB -A is not a great Idea. They are capable of way more than a USB-A port. If you really want to evaluate them, you should use USB-C 3.2 Gen 2(x2) or thunderbolt.
Hey Friend! Good point. My 2015 MacBook Pro was what I had at the time. I’m planning to upgrade in new year so maybe I can give it a real test then. Hope all is well! Cheers 🙌

Last week attached a T7 1TB to my Xbox One, and Xbox One X. World of difference. Next gen consoles are impossible to get. But adding these to last gen consoles makes game launching, running games, so much better. Say goodbye to texture pop! Graphics are marginally improved in that the console does have to compensate for texture pop by down grading the texture. I am guessing. There could be a different but similar reason, but either way, games can look better. Especially when movement is taking place on screen. Much faster than on board internal drive. Wish I could transfer OS to the SSD.

I have both! I work on large (20~200gb) UE4 projects on my two T7s that light is nice you can tell if things are working. 2 years and they’re still great. Not really portable friendly because of their sleekness, I’ve dropped one a few times on my attempts at carrying them with me but everything seems fine. When I’m moving my laptop around the house sometimes I try to keep my two T7s plugged in, they’ll like slip off and smack eachother. These are better for stationary use or if you plan to hide them in a secure backpack or something after use. I got the Sandisk one for an on the go emergency backup. It’s very unlikely but I always get scared we’d have like a disaster a house fire or a robbery or something and I’d lose years of work. I don’t want to pay for a cloud service so having a durable SSD on me at all times gives me that sense of security. With the way it’s built it’s more suited for the outdoors than the T7. I never really keep track on how fast these things are but I’m transferring a 241gb folder from my T7 to my Sandisk and eta is about 2 hours 55 mins and sometimes the eta fluctuates. 11% in and it went to 1 hour 50 mins.
Hey friend! Thanks so much for sharing your review for the channel fam! You shared a lot of helpful details for those looking to purchase a drive! Thank you for being a valued member of the channel fam!
Sandisk Extreme SSDs all have the same problem: heat dissipation sucks. Sandisk Extreme generate way more heat compared with the Samsung T series, even the slower SATA Extreme heats up real fast. And the rubberised enclosure just make the heat to keep inside. Samsung T series generate way less heat and the aluminium enclosure is good for heat dissipation.
Thanks for sharing your input Rory. I believe the SanDisk Extreme Pro might have better materials for heating issues. I personally haven't had an issue with either one overheating yet. Which external drive is your go to? Samsung?
@@pauldittus I use both and I only have one of each. I would say the next drive I buy would be another Samsung since I don't take SSDs out in the wild so I probably don't need that IP rating. I know some people use the Extreme Pro V2 (the USB3.2*2 one) and they also told me those run really hot. What I've experienced is regardless the Extreme is doing anything or not, it heats up after half a minute when plugged into a computer (and of course the computer is powered on so the Extreme will be powered too), while the Samsung only runs hot when it's under some heavy work loads, and it'll be complete cool to touch if it's not doing anything.
@@rorywalters1614 I got the Sandisk Extreme Portable v2 (not the pro) and I also find it that it gets very hot...many reviewers have not either noticed or fail to mention this...this cannot be a good sign...very fast sure but it gets hot very quickly- I hope it doesnt fail too soon. The1000 MB/s is real (900MB/s for me with a M1pro MBP) and that's greaty but the overheating worries me. So the Samsung T7 is not as fast (but fast enough for 4k I hope) and it stays fairly cool?
@@TheFandangovideoguy hey Erick! Sorry for the delayed response. I’m afraid TH-cam doesn’t notify me about reply to replies. I personally haven’t had overheating issues with either drive… yet. Is the SanDisk still giving you trouble? Thank you for sharing your experience with the channel fam ❤️
As a professional video editor, I know storage is a huge deal. I got 2 NVMe SSDs and 3 SATA HDDs sitting in my desktop computer totaling in 2.5TB of NVMe storage and 25TB of HDD storage. My workflow usually is storing projects I am currently working on on my M.2 NVMe SSDs and later moving them to HDDs when I am done with them or barely need to change stuff in them because they are basically done. I went for the T7 2TB ssd to actually get footage I recorded on the shooting (I am also a professional camera operator/DP) over to my PC, but the SanDisk wouldve worked just as well. They are basically the same devices. Just grab the one that is currently cheaper or the one you find better looking. Keep in mind, when copying large amounts of files at once, the writing speed usually dramatically decreases once you have written files worth of 25% of the entire storages space. The reason behind this is that manufacturers usually only have 1/4th amount of the storage being SLC (single level cell) storage and write to that first. The longer time storage is usually TLC (triple level cell) storage, which is much more compact but also only 33% as fast as the SLC storage. When not currently using your SSD, it will automatically move the copied files from the SLC cache over to the TLC storage to then be able to copy stuff quickly again. Thats why it only really matters much, if you copy A LOT at once. If you have ever edited a video in 4K with multiple cameras recording in intra frame codec, you know that 500GB of footage are easily recorded, even when not recording in raw. But even for shootings with 1 camera you can also easily fill up 500GB or more, depending on what you are doing - but filling them in a day is no problemo even in Inter frame codecs with just 1 camera. 1TB may be enough for most of your shoots - just keep in mind that the 1TB version of either of these devices will get slow twice as fast compared to its 2TB counter part, because 1TB SSDs usually just have 250GB of the desirable very fast SLC storage, while 2TB ones usually have 500GB.
Thanks for sharing my friend! I love the detail and insights you provided. I recently haven't been recommending the SanDisk since I've heard that some creators have been having issues with the SSD fail. Hopefully they've fixed the issue. Keep up the good work my friend!
@@bodhifinan Its a good device. But I recommend getting a 2TB or even the 4TB version, because it is going to be as many times a s durable as it has storage capacity (twice the storage = twice as durable) and it is going to be better for using bigger amounts of files. If you often happen to copy 500GB of data in a short period of time, you want at least the 2TB version so that you wont get bottlenecked by the TLC storage during your copying process. If you only get the 1TB version and want to copy a bunch of files that add up to more than 250GB at once, you will notice a sudden and VERY significant decrease (easily -70%) in file transfer rate after the first 250GB have been copied. If your files add up to 500GB, you will copy the first 250GB very quickly and the other 250GB will be copied at less than a third of the data rate, basically speaking. TLC storage is a scam - unfortunately its not possible to avoid it. The only thing to make the scam less annoying is to always buy 4 times the amount of storage you regularly change. So lets say you are a film maker and your footage often adds up to ~500GB or 1000GB. Always have your SSDs have 4 times the amount of storage if you dont directly record onto that SSD if you want the fastest possible copying (I am beginning to repeat myself).
Great vid Paul. Im torn between these as I have been looking at other SSD's and these are my top two. If I choose the Sandisk one do you think it is possible to just use any USB A to USB C cable to use instead of the adapter they supply? Or is there some cables that have better transfer speeds that can be used?
Hey friend! Thanks for joining the channel fam 🙌. Absolutely, you can use a different cable. I did a quick search and it looks like you should be able to get the max speeds of these drives with most new USB C cables. Looks like USB C 3.1 or newer should do the trick. However, your speeds could be limited based on the device with USB A port on your using. www.akitio.com/faq/356-are-all-usb-c-cables-the-same Have an awesome week 🙌 let us know what you end up going with or if you have any other questions.
I’ve got the same dilemma! I’ve been watching a few TH-cam videos as well as reading other posts, but I still can’t decide! A big part of me is leaning towards the SanDisk because of its ruggedness and durability. I always worry about dropping things!
We use USB-C to USB-C on our studio equipment ie. iMacs...our location kit is instead a Windows 11 MSI gaming machine certainly not your typical location Laptop. Here we use USB-C to USB-A and we have never found it lagging or dropping off and the dropping off of any HDD or SSD is as we know...is royally a pain in the a**. The one thing people miss interpret on is the cable....Personally we kept our Seagate cables and use them for location work as they are a lot beefier and transfer data, images, motion files excellently. One other thing we added to our location laptop is a standard Bank of America rubber credit card sleeve ... they sticky on to the outside of the machine and hold securely the SSD so we can use a mini length 4" cable...keeps things tidy and comfortably out of the way. Removal is easy as there is absolutely no residue left behind. @alvareo92 We we have had to utilize 10G for a few contracts....yes, the specific cable was introduced to attain those speeds. Was it worth it? likely not for us, but each instance is different. I personally don't require 10G transfer speed ... as that is the time i get to actually enjoy the few minutes of downtime to myself. Great vid Paul...keep up the good work my friend
@@dr.richardamaral-psychology hi friend! So sorry I didn’t reply. For some reason I don’t know if it notifies me if someone replies to a comment. The SanDisk is a great option. Which one did you end up going with?
Nice video. I am confused between these two. Have read somewhere that sandisk would perform better in writing large files because it has larger cache than samsung T7. What's your opinion? Could you take a real world test in transferring more than 200GB of mixed media type data with both the drives and let us know which performs better ? Thank you.
Hey friend! I haven’t heard about the cache. I did find the Sandisk perform slightly better and offer better durability. I personally didn’t feel like it was a drastic difference between the two. Both are pretty solid.
@@agamaz5650 hello friend! Recently I’ve been recommending the Samsung over the Sandisk due to people having issues with Sandisk. I personally haven’t experienced the drive failing, but have heard people having issues recently with them. I’m hoping it was just a bad batch, but it’s hard to recommend at the moment. So all that said, I would personally recommend the Samsung T7 right now. Welcome to the channel fam 🎉
I have the SanDisk 2TB Extreme and an older G Tech 1TB SSD. From day one the SanDisk would get hot to the touch just plugged, no transferring or reading. Also, I couldn't edit video files and thus only used the SanDisk for backups. It failed recently after about 18 months, lost all data. The G Drive has proved to be very reliable and in my experience faster. I have the Samsung T7 on my shopping list and perhaps another G tech.

@@pauldittus I did send a support request to SanDisk support. No response as yet. I took delivery of the Samsung T7 yesterday and will do double back ups to be safe.
And if we talk about encrypting or putting a key or password on both ssds to prevent another person from accessing our files and information, which of the two would you recommend?
Good question. Personally I haven't used encryption on either so I don't know for sure. That said, Samsung does offer the Samsung T7 Touch with fingerprint security which is pretty cool. I haven't personally used that SSD version of the Samsung. Welcome to the channel fam 🎉
What happens if you want to clone your Win 10 PC, take the Sandisk on a trip, then hook it up to a computer at a friend or relative's house and use it there - do you have to buy a whole new MS product key for Win 10, or can you just run it the same as if it were your regular home PC using its own hard drive at home? What if you also want to do that win an old Win XP PC? I think I read that you'd need a whole new product key for that.
Great question. Curious if you tried it or found out the answer. I haven't tried it yet, but this article looks promising: www.tomshardware.com/how-to/create-portable-windows-11-disk Let me know if you try it. Would be curious to know if it works out.
no doubt the T7 the better of the two's! Sandisk Extreme Pro 4TB kept crashing on me twice for no reason. When you own over 16,000 music videos and these Sandisk Extreme Pro 4tb are unreliable this was unacceptable to me especially before a gig! Thank god I had a good backup in my "Lacie 5tb" external hd. and after shipping it back (Sandisk) and also returning the replacment one at the same time and getting my refund and investigated more about those Sandisk problems and found out they had all similar issues to mine, So I went on to buy the SSD "Samsung 4TB Shield" after doing my research about them so I bought it and happy that I did with no issues! My personal opinion!
Thanks for sharing friend 😊 sorry to hear that the Sandisk crashed. It sounds like people have been experiencing issues with Sandisk SSDs recently. I personally haven’t had an issue with their SSDs yet. I love my Samsung T7. It’s been working great. Thanks for sharing! Welcome to the channel fam 🎉
I’ve owned the t7 for over a year now no problems. The light is nice, use it with my iPad sometimes it takes awhile for the t7 to show up in the files app, the light lets you now it’s been recognized so you’re not in limbo.
I'm using Samsung T7 Touch 2TB for some months. It's great SSD, but sometimes make me problems. 1) When you watching video and occasionally rewind it back and forward, the SSD may stuck and even disconnect from the PC. 2) The same thing occurs, if you're working simultaneously with many opened files. Eg. converting video and make backup. 3) It happened several times: I work on one PC, and later open my work on another PC and see like all files in the folder still unchanged! Windows "Scan disk" can solve that problem, and all changed and new files appears as it should be. Seems like SSD for unknown reason doesn't update the file structure. *) I know about "Eject disk" command and always do it before disconnecting my SSD. 4) This disk is very sensitive to USB-cable and may not work properly with some. /// My older SAMSUNG T5 500GB had another problem. It sometimes made me errors with saving big files. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. T7 has no that problem.
Thanks for sharing friend! Do you have all the drives formatted the same (btw don’t format a drive unless you’ve got all your data secure in another location)? Is the encryption turned on with the T7 Touch? You might want to reach out to Samsung if those problems persist. That sounds very frustrating. Let us know if you find a solution.
@@pauldittus I’m electronics engineer, and we use a lot of these SSD for one of our projects. I also have one T7 and one T5 as my own. I can compare and may to say - described problem isn't my specific. 1) T7 have no problem to store files one-by-one, but if some apps working simultaneously with many opened files, intensive cross-transferring data may ruine USB connection. 2) My SSD formatted as NTFS. 3) As I’ve said, the USB cable is important, and T7’s own cable isn't best. I recommend cables of TrippLite. 4) Yes, I have T7 Touch, but I don't think it really encrypts user data. SSD just hiding the main partition, making it “Unallocated”. Didn't trying, but I think, any partition tool can make it with all user data visible. For real encryption I recommend VeraCrypt app. 5) Also recommend to install Samsung Magican for update SSD firmware, because native utility doesn't do the work. 6) As a conclusion, T7 is still one of the best of external SSD, but I can't call it “trusted device”. So, after saving really important data will be a good practice disconnect it, reconnect again and check your files.

I just bought the 2 TB version of the SanDisk SSD (albeit, it has not been delivered yet) . . . Question - why am I seeing so many complaints about this SSD overheating and more important, is this systemic to all SSDs or just the SanDisk Extreme Portable? Thank you in advance . . .
Hey Steven! Great question. When I was using the Sandisk for work, I didn’t have any major issues with it. Perhaps others here have had other experiences, but from my personal experience it worked great for me. Also the Samsung SSD that I use now hasn’t had major issues either so I have yet to see if it’s systematic or an occasional issue with SSDs. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. Welcome to the channel fam my friend 🎉
Is Sandisk extreme good for a long term backing up, for example photos, videos, mdp, pdf etc? Most important thing for me is to have all the files safe everytime I get to use the device. 🥺
Great question my friend. First I will say I've been hesitant to recommend Sandisk SSDs recently due to people having issues with them. I personally haven't had any issues with the Sandisk that I used in the past, but something to keep in mind. For backup I would suggest considering a backup system instead of just one drive. Yes, this drive can do a fantastic job of holding a copy of data and be able to have quick read and write speeds. Most professionals recommend a 3-2-1 backup system. This is where you have 3 backups: 2 local and 1 offsite. I personally haven't gotten to this level, but I have decided to use Backblaze as a part of my backup system. I know the pain of lost files. Having a good backup system is great for preventing lost files. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I normally put my videos/movies to my external drive, and watch it from there. Would doing that to an external ssd destroy the lifespan significantly of my SSD? Thinking of getting the T7 too.
Hey there friend! Great question. So I actually use my SSD to edit videos and for some of my creative project files. I prefer using an external drive as it's less stress on my internal hard drive. Your use case doesn't sound particularly draining for an SSD. All drives have a certain lifespan. So whichever drive you use there's always the possibility of it going bad eventually. That said I love using SSDs and they work great.
First, welcome to the world of Macs 🙌. I don't use time machine currently, but I would imagine these working great for that purpose. You could probably even get the V1 of the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD or the Samsung T5. I would probably go with an SSD of some sort. Hope this helps friend!

Have and use both. I’ve probably got 3 or 4 of each. The only one I have had fail is the sandisk and it didn’t even really fail. The usbc port became loose and it would disconnect if moved even the slightest bit. I was still able to get all my info off it. I could have easily damaged it myself as I handle the sandisk ones way rougher than the Samsung. Guess I’m trying to say they are both really reliable.
Not sure how long you've had it but the port may have just filled up with stuff. I recently cleaned the port of my phone after it stopped getting a good connection with the cable and now the port works like new.

Great video Paul. I'm not too tech savvy. I was wondering could i put my 70 gigs of music on either of these and use it to play music from my computer instead of taking up those 70 gigs of space on my computer? Appreciate it.
Thanks so much, Tim. Yes, you should be able to use an external SSD to store your music if desired. Most music players support playing music from an external drive. The USB C port on the Samsung is on the same side as the light so you are not likely ever going to see the light as the plug will be in the back of where you are likely to place the drive
Hey Gary 😊! I mostly pay attention to the blinky light when unmounting to make sure it’s done writing before unplugging. So far I haven’t had to really look at it because of it not responding or not responding fast enough 👍 did you end up going with the Samsung?

@@Unknown-mx7vd I agree. It was the computer I had available at the time. I’m hoping to upgrade later this year. But you are correct that it would have been better using a computer that supports the top speeds. Thank you friend 👍
Cost is the kicker. SSDs are amazing on performance and stability but spinny drives have them beat on cost and sometimes availability. SSD's for portables all day though.
It's so true. I recently had a hard time deciding whether to go with the speed, portability, and durability of these SSDs vs the cheap pricing of HDD at a low $$ per TB. I ended up going with the fewer TB of the SSD. I just love how quiet and small they are, but if space and cost are a priority then definitely, HDD wins.

Great video. I have two questions: 1. Is it possible to use one of this SSD on an old iMac as a boot disk? 2. Is it ok to use one them to save my Photo gallery and work smoothly editing images from there? Thanks!
Hey Ricardo! Thanks for watching 😊. 1. Yes, you should be able to use as a boot drive. You’ll just need to format the drive accordingly. 2. Absolutely. I love using external drives for working on my videos or photos. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Welcome to the channel fam 😊
Programmer here. So, what do you mean by "the file support wasn't there for many file formats". ANY storage supports ANY file formats! Yes - even a floppy drive! Yes, you may have problems editing a 4k video right from an old HDD but it DOES support it ;-) It will stutter constantly tho because read/write speeds of old HDD are poor. Files are just 0's and 1's - if a storage device could write those - it will support any file format. Heck - you can even invent a new file format and ANY storage could write and read it.
Good point my friend. That’s exactly what I meant to say and should have explained better. Thank you for clarifying for the channel fam 😊👍 Welcome to the channel fam 🎉
What if you were putting the sandisk in your pant back pocket and unknowingly sitting on it ? How do you think it would hold up ? I dont have one but i really want to know
Good question my friend. I can't make any promises since I haven't had it happen, but I do believe it's decently durable and would imagine it should be fine most of the time. Probably would depend on what you sit on and how fast (e.g. if you fall on a hard surface at an angle). Welcome to the channel my friend 🎉
Hey friend 😊 I’ve been using mine regularly, and it’s been working great so far. Granted I haven’t had it that long yet. This could be an interesting read: www.backblaze.com/blog/how-reliable-are-ssds/

Hey friend! Welcome to the channel fam 🎉 I’ve used both for video editing in the past. I would say they get warm or a little hot, but I don’t recall them getting to concerning sustained level of heat. Personally, I use the Samsung T7 since that’s the one I own (the other one was for a job).
Thank you for your comment. I personally haven’t had any overheating issues that have impacted my workflow. That said, I have heard from other creators that the Sandisk SSDs seem to be failing more than usual recently. With that I’ve been recommending the Samsung over the Sandisk for now. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Welcome to the channel 👍
Hey I'm kinda stuck and i need guidance from true long term experience! I'm seeing multiple negative reviews about SanDisk Extreme SSDs failing and stuff like that but Samsung T7 reviews seems to be the least negative. Please someone help me with what i should go for!

Hi Paul, I just want something to keep my music files on so I can get rid of my desk top pc. I have too much music to fit on my phone. Would one of these be a wise option?
Hey J.D.! Great question. These are fast and portable options. They will be more expensive than a traditional disk drive, but if you don't need a lot of storage and want portability these are great options. That said, I recently returned one of my SSDs to buy a large hard drive. Here is my paid link to the WD Elements drive I bought: amzn.to/3cuVNUf If you need A LOT of space and don't want to spend as much per TB this is a great option. Downsides of the WD Elements I don't like that it requires power, is less durable, and is harder to transport. Hope this helps! And welcome to the channel fam 🎉
Love this!! So glad you enjoyed it! And may you enjoy your new drives. I'm very happy with both drives. They haven't let me down yet. Thanks for being part of the channel fam my friend 🙌

Hey friend 😊 great question. Personally I haven’t had any real issues with overheating with either drive. If you look through the comments and reviews of both drives, you’re likely to find someone saying either one has a heating issue. I just bought Samsung Portable SSD T5 for my iPad Pro. It gets disconnected, 😟 nothing wrong with cables. It works fine with Laptop. What could it be or any fix? Please Help!
Hey friend! So sorry to hear. Do you know how the drive is formatted? Do you have a lot of content on the drive already? If not, maybe back up your content and try 1. check the disk for errors via a computer 2. reformatting the drive (make sure you backup whatever is on your drive first) Keep us posted friend. Hope it all works out. I know it can be frustrating when drives don’t work properly. I believe Samsung might have software for their drives if I’m not mistaken. Hi Paul, thanks for the review. I'm considering to buy an external ssd, but during my research, many people say sandisk tends to get hot when you work directly from it. Do you experience the same problem? Does samsung T7 tends to get hot too like sandisk? Thank you, i will be waiting for your response😊
Hey there friend! I’m trying to remember if either drive gets particularly hot. I personally haven’t had any overheating issues that have impacted the performance of the drives that I’ve noticed. To be honest, either should be great! You can format the drive according to your OS needs. Personally, I like the look and the cable of the Samsung better, but I also like the durability and the ruggedness of the Sandisk.

Thanks, Annette 😊! I'm so sorry to hear about your hard drive failing. Both have worked great for me (I will be returning the Sandisk to company). I would also recommend looking into a backup system to protect your files. There are systems like the 3-2-1 method that could be helpful. I’m a bit confused . Iv heard Samsung ssds require you to isnt kernel code into Macs and therefore reduce security on the Mac . Iv also heard the Samsung software makes things difficult for some people to use their ssd. Do you know anything about this? I might update soon and idk what to get . Recently I backed up like 200 g on an old wd hard drive that was a few years old. It only took like 20 mins . Seems fast compared to people saying it takes them hours for not much more gigs . I thought ssds were supposed to be faster lol Idk what to get .
Hello my friend! I haven't heard about those security concerns for Mac. I've been using my Samsung T7 with my mac, and I haven't noticed any issues yet. I don't believe a separate Samsung software is necessary for using the SSDs if you don't want to use it. I will also suggest avoiding the Sandisk SSDs right now. I've heard to many people having issues with them recently. Hopefully this changes soon. Feel free to report back what you end up going with. Welcome to the channel!
Yeah I was concerned with the sandisk , though Iv seen people say they transfer bigger files faster and that the Samsung’s go really slow for big transfers? Like a 20-40 g folder or more would be super slow? I think I heard that if you don’t download the Samsung software , the ssd doesn’t operate at full speed. But I also heard the software issue is more of a concern on M chip Apple products. So this is what leaves me indecisive
@@heythere6983 I haven't seen a major speed difference between the two when I had them. Granted my testing wasn't probably the most accurate because I was using an older MBP when testing the two. Hey friend! Great question. Thank you for letting me know. So by default Sandisk comes formatted as ExFAT which should work with your computer. As long as you don’t have anything on the drive that you need, you can try reformatting the SSD and see if that fixes it (this will wipe all files on the SSD). You could try another Windows machine to see if it’s just your computer. Lastly, you might be able to exchange the drive or get it checked out under warranty if it’s a problem is with the drive itself. Let me know if you have any questions 👍
I haven't personally experienced any issues with heating impacting the performance of the drives. However, I believe from the reviews I've read some have said that they experienced issues with the T7. Hope that helps 👍 Cheers 🙌
I heard the case of the SanDisk is like a durable rubber that keeps the heat in more than other SSDs. Still, I heard the T7 has heating issues too (as well as WD MyPassports.) I wouldn't mind the extra durability of the SanDisk tho.
the sandisk one is rather cheap at the moment, do to a rather high rabatt... the Samsung one in red is 354,75€ (or any other color 400€) for 2TB... the SanDisk on the other hand ... well the 2TB variant costs 212€ (at the moment of writing this comment inside of germany, might vary in other countries. It usually costs 411€) and the 4TB one is 449€ (usually 817,99€) So yeah, definitely look at both links if you want to buy one of these, so you can make sure that you can get a true bang for the buck

Which one not more hot

The1000 MB/s is real (900MB/s for me with a M1pro MBP) and that's greaty but the overheating worries me. So the Samsung T7 is not as fast (but fast enough for 4k I hope) and it stays fairly cool?

So samsung 1tb t7 sheild is good please tell

Hey friend! Thanks for joining the channel fam 🙌. Absolutely, you can use a different cable. I did a quick search and it looks like you should be able to get the max speeds of these drives with most new USB C cables. Looks like USB C 3.1 or newer should do the trick.

Hey Adrian! So sorry to hear that SanDisk failed you. Were you able to get them to replace the drive? Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Welcome to the channel fam 🎉

I haven't tried it yet, but this article looks promising: www.tomshardware.com/how-to/create-portable-windows-11-disk
Let me know if you try it.
That’s awesome Mike!! Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve really enjoyed using my T7. Great SSD. Have a great week!
@@Vinnetu thanks for sharing all the details. Do you know if you’re experiencing the issues with the drives you encrypt?
I’m on Mac so I format my SSDs as APFS. So far I haven’t had an issue.

It is hard to beat a traditional hard drive for decades of archival
I normally put my videos/movies to my external drive, and watch it from there. Would doing that to an external ssd destroy the lifespan significantly of my SSD? Thinking of getting the T7 too.
Hey there friend! Great question. So I actually use my SSD to edit videos and for some of my creative project files. I prefer using an external drive as it's less stress on my internal hard drive. Your use case doesn't sound particularly draining for an SSD. All drives have a certain lifespan. So whichever drive you use there's always the possibility of it going bad eventually. That said I love using SSDs and they work great.

Here is my paid link to the WD Elements drive I bought: amzn.to/3cuVNUf
If you need A LOT of space and don't want to spend as much per TB this is a great option. Downsides of the WD Elements I don't like that it requires power, is less durable, and is harder to transport.

Thanks, Annette 😊! I'm so sorry to hear about your hard drive failing. Both have worked great for me (I will be returning the Sandisk to company). I would also recommend looking into a backup system to protect your files. There are systems like the 3-2-1 method that could be helpful. Hello my friend!
I haven't heard about those security concerns for Mac. I've been using my Samsung T7 with my mac, and I haven't noticed any issues yet.
I don't believe a separate Samsung software is necessary for using the SSDs if you don't want to use it.

Thank you for letting me know. So by default Sandisk comes formatted as ExFAT which should work with your computer. As long as you don’t have anything on the drive that you need, you can try reformatting the SSD and see if that fixes it (this will wipe all files on the SSD).
