Think I'm going to try to replicate your build in the near future. Get a proper miter station going with the stop block system /dust collection you're showing, and cut down on the space my current setup uses at the same time - win/win. Thanks for sharing!

I really like your design, and I have a question. Given the supports for the wings sit directly on the surface/floor, how do you assure they are level when you move it, since the surface on which the supports sit may or may not be level?
You were worried about the brackets sagging but I’m wondering how things work out once the legs are down? Almost need leveling feet or something. Hmmm. Really want to make one of these though.
When you factor in the cost of the wood, tracks, brackets, hardware, casters, mdf, and the time to build it just seems to make more sense to buy a mobile stand like the Toughbuilt S600 or Ridgid AC9946. Not saying you don't have any benefits over them, but they surely have benefits over your setup as well. One push down on your foot and you have the entire saw out ready to go with sliding stops and extensions up to 10ft I believe. Superior mobility and storage as well.
I disagree. This costs less than those metal stands especially now that wood prices have dropped since making this video. With the miter saw attached to it, those will take up almost the same amount of space as this does with the wings folded down. Those offer no options for a bottom shelf, which for me holds my planer and dust collection. You may like those better for yourself but to say they are superior, I don’t think that’s true in any category. Those stands you listed are more for contractors who need easier mobility to go from job site to job site. Outside of that, if you’re a maker, make something.
@@HowToHomeDIY My Dewalt planer is 92lbs. On the Toughbuilt S600 it's a breeze to move around, supports the weight, and folds up nicely in a corner. I never have to pick that planer up again. The cost of your build is not much cheaper. $60 on MDF, $40 on 2x4's, $90 on folding brackets, $35 for T-Track, $25 for casters. You're over $200, and you gotta do a lot of work when you can just spend a little more, open a box and assemble. The Ridgid goes on sale often enough around $125, the Toughbuilt I've never seen a sale on yet. I'm not a contractor, but my work space is small, and these stands move around so well over any terrain, up and down stairs no problem its effortless.
The brackets aren’t $90. $40-50 for two pairs depending on size. So the total build is under $200 and it can hold my planer and my miter saw. Those stands you are talking about are each $230-300 depending on where you get them. I would need two of them, one for my miter saw and one for my planer so at best I’m at $460 and with two of them with those items on them they are going to take up way more space than my build. I’m glad you are happy with what you have but again I strongly disagree that those are better.
Nice, very nice. I have not in all the videos I've watched about building a miter saw station anyone screw the saw down to the table. How did you address the problem of the saw moving?
This is great, but the legs are only going to be level if on a level surface. If one side of the ground is lower than the other, the legs won't touch the ground on that side.
You can make stop blocks that go into the track which will make it easy to make repeatable cuts. For added functionality I would recommend also putting a scale onto the wings alongside the t-tracks.
I'm looking at your plans and the only thing I'm wondering is if I could incorporate a flip top for the miter saw so when it is flipped over you have a flat surface and descent sized workbench as a result. Any ideas?
I noticed you are screwing the 2x4’s together into the end grain when making the framing for the top and bottom shelf. Over time have you had any issues with this regarding wobble or wobble in the framework or does the MDF take care of that? Thanks. Hope to build for my Christmas present miter saw.
I have had zero issues with it and I have used the mess out of this thing. The MDF does add a really nice layer of pulling and holding everything together. I hope you like yours as much as I do mine once you make it! Congrats on the new miter saw!

Nice video… but one question: why do you not wear safety glasses ? I had a career in construction rising to sup’t, & always wore safety glasses well before OSHA, & I’ve seen, first hand, guys ‘losing an eye’ that safety glasses would have easily prevented. Great advice about wearing a face-mask as protection against inhaling wood dust, etc… making me all the more puzzled about lack of safety glasses. That said, NICE VIDEO of constructing a nice, very useful DESIGN.
Sometimes I do, especially when running a table saw. Just personal preference. I have run all kinds of circular saws, miter saws, etc and had no issue. Things like table saws and drill presses though, I always do.
A word of warning to people who aren't that familiar with routers: when routing along a guide like in this video it is easier to go the other way. The rotation of the bit will pull the router towards the guide and require less wrestling, whereas the direction shown here will make it push away, requiring you to really keep it in check.

Hey Carlton, I actually spent a decent amount of time making the plans with all of the measurements, I just didn't finish the steps though. Perhaps I should get that done! I really appreciate the feedback and am glad you like the stand. I will see if I can't get those plans finished up soon.

You can mount a router under one of the wings

Wouldn't regular hinges be fine on this since you've added leg supports? Just thinking about money difference in folding brackets vs regular hinges.
I was thinking the same. I have this kind of hinge for a foldable table and they cost over $30.

Any issues with making cuts at full turn of 60 degrees. Only thing not covered. Maybe do a follow up video on how it’s working out.

I used similar brackets for an outfeed table on my table saw and they are just too flimsy to hold more than about 10 lbs.
