    I love the discourse of "I can veil to play through bauble" and "don't play wight of the reliquary, dies to chainsaw." Not only because someone who doesn't play magic would understand zero, but there are two more different types of magic that you can* play. Both cause suffering.

    17:26 this so perfectly articulates and captures the heart of the issue. I dont mind proactivity, i understand the argument of "chess doesnt have gotcha mechanics. You just respond and counter play" but in WotC's attempt to limit feels bad from stopping stuff or having risk and reward, the pendulum swings all the way to it being feels bad while I sit there and watch an opponent pop off without any meaningful interaction. Ive got a friend that loves powerful cards and abilities but genuinely all upside, all agency, all the time is good and health design because 'i just wanna do my thing, Im not doing anything degen' completely missing the point that everyone else is doing that too and its just miserable. Ill admit I've loved mystic forge, paradox engine decks and think fleshraker is such a more interesting wincon for that deck, but theres gotta be a trade off and vexing bauble is a step too far.

  • @acetn330

    I keep being surprised not more people are mentioning Troll of Khazad Dum. Prior to its printing we had Grief and an otherwise fully powered Reanimator deck in the format and it was never nowhere near broken. Likewise it wasn't feasible to try the Reanimator shell in a fair tempo deck because Reanimate was such a terrible card in fair decks, and both Grief and Reanimate were only good whenever you exactly drew them together, as was shown in UB Death's Shadow decks at the time. Troll gives those decks a free way to convert any Reanimates they draw, which means you can run 4 no problem, which then again means your Grief got better and your whole shell was broken.
    tl;dr: I think if Frog and Troll were banned, Reanimator would not be a problem any more.

    • @scottlatta5348
      @scottlatta5348 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Troll also allows a very greedy mana base. There’s a reason UB runs 4 and the others run 0-2 usually. Troll also invalidates moon effects and lets them keep greedy hands with a single wasteland.

    • @Senpiezza
      @Senpiezza 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I fully agree, I think Troll is a dumb card. 1 mana land cycling is too powerful. Timeless Dragon is playable with a 2 mana land cycling ability. 1 mana is unnecessarily pushed imo. And having it on a big beater that is extremely difficult to block in a format where reanimate is legal is just negligent

    • @JohnFromAccounting
      @JohnFromAccounting 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Entomb is much, much worse of a problem. If they get to Reanimate a Troll, you can still remove it. If they Entomb Reanimate an Atraxa, they've refilled their hand and you're in the bin even if you can remove Atraxa.

    • @scottlatta5348

    To me vexing bauble give me mental misstep vibes. And there is a reason a card any deck can play regardless of what color they were playing got banned. I’m all for the force check as a blue player, but for a card that can literally be played in any deck and force control player to have to mull to a force is not a good card for a format.

    Banning Frog, Vexing, Troll I think would be an invited and exciting shake up. Mycosynth is one of those cards that offend my sensibilities so i cant make a fair assessment. Koz Command and Fleshraker similiarly are cards Im biased to liking.
    Personally I think half the issue is the b&r cycle. Maybe Im still tilted over Grief-Frog because Id like to see how some bans impact and if they were protecting other problem cards or not. Waiting for august with Grief still around was this lame duck format wondering if Frog was gonna be a problem, immediately going "oh yup definitely an issue" and having to wait 4 months is excruciating. I dont want them shooting from the hip but a little bit more proactivity when things get painfully obvious would go a long way.

    WoTC has mostly changed all formats, not just Legacy, a great deal with their designs (no bad cards as said by Bosh). Holding on to all our old favorites may not be possible anymore. WoTC has pushed out nostalgia

      Because without force of will keeping things in check, you'd have to ban like 20 or 30 other cards and it would be a ridiculous bloat of the ban list. Makes more sense to just ban the few cards (like bauble) that are disrupting the balance and let people enjoy legacy the way they've been enjoying it for the past decade+
