      Quite obviously, you do not live or know Thailand intimately, or you would know differently. There has been no "iron fist" as you succinctly put it. Peace, stability, economic growth, and all under a military backed regime. It is not an "absolute monarchy".... it is a constitutional monarchy. Should you have a problem with that, I would invite you to loudly voice your opinion on any street corner in Thailand.

    In my perspective, Pita emerged unscathed from the ITV case, but it appears that a more consequential challenge looms on the horizon-one that could potentially bring about a profound transformation in his political career and significantly impact his party. This dilemma seems poised to spotlight the perceived double standards within the Thai judiciary. The judges, wary of jeopardizing their reputations, seemingly avoided further entanglement in the current scenario and instead redirected their focus to the next chapter: The Move Forward Party's proposed amendment to the Lese Majeste Law. In this subsequent episode, Pita and his party may find themselves in a perilous position, facing potential political obliteration.

    I can't believe Thitinan is mistaken. Pita was suspended as an MP but that doesn't mean he wasn't eligible as a prime minister candidate. He didn't get to be the Prime Minister because he didn't secure enough supports from the elected MPs and appointed senators combined, i.e. 375 out of 500+250. His party has 152 MPs, which by itself isn't a majority even without those 250 appointed taken into account. But his party was hoping that forming a coalition (313 MPs) with other parties, Pheu Thai which has Srettha as a candidate included, would make some of those appointed support him and win the majority. Even after a failed attempt, the party actually intended to pressure the appointed senators by continuing to nominate Pita until the appointed complete their term in May this year when only 500 MPs matter, and that means they were ready to bet on a conscience of the appointed senators and the MPs outside the coalition, or Thailand may be left without a legit government for 10 months.

    • @nottelling8881
      @nottelling8881 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The best bet for Pita to be the PM for the next general election is through his party winning a majority by itself because their ideal and value are too noble to be compromised and that means they won't make a deal to form an alliance with those unworthy other parties that they deem conservative and much less democratic.

He also would listen to all the domestic radio traffic in this office type room in his free time so he could be constantly be updated to the happenings in Thailand. To me he truly cared about the people and the nation and that is the qualities that make a king actually deserve his title and make citizens believe his divine title is justified. I guess you’re saying his son isn’t being worshipped or respected as his father and I also believe modernity especially in places like Bangkok have made some of the old traditions fade among younger people? Is that so ? @mikeschneider2323 culture changes. No country would survive staying stagnant. Bear in mind when you visit a place that you're only seeing a snapshot of mostly curated things (this is especially true if you stayed in mostly touristic areas). Meanwhile, it's the people who actually have to live the realities of their lives. Thailand has been plagued for years now with unemployment for fresh graduates, poverty, basic salary not being up to par with living costs, etc. They've had 2 PMs who were chosen and elected by the people, ousted by the king and the military. Popular candidates thereafter were blocked from winning (like the guy in the video). It doesn't help that the current King has done multiple things that benefit only himself and not the people. They're not even allowed to criticise him because of the lese majeste law. So it's natural that their love for the king is long gone.

    This is what Germany should know, since the Thai king pay inheritance tax to Bavaria Government most of the money that the Thai king paid to them is the money from Mom and Dad Germans tax payer, the question is how the Thai king does it? As you can see how many Thai Temple in Germany? All of them doing donation business and the Thai monk have to give the money to the king for buying the Monk rank and the more money you give it to the Thai king the rank is bigger.
