Belousov spent 25 years in Academy of Sciences.. which was/is a KGB research center that included nuclear and post nuclear management research and who knows what else. So something tells me this guy is not just an economist.
He'll have to be an alchemist, otherwise his shoes will turn to bronze.

@@meteorknight999 The research center was under the supervision of Central Executive Committee of USSR. Which was the highest branch of Communist government. All of u Western media propagandists keep on saying that the new Russian defense minister doesn't have military experience. Do Western defense ministers have military experience
You forget Shoigu is major general not Minister of defence.
If things were going well, putin wouldn`t replace shoigu with an economist, would he.
Ben Wallace did, and he was amazing... In his own way.
Especially gynaecologist Ursula Von der Leyen, best defence minister ever 🤣
Well, Shoigu had served as a Defense Minister for 12 years - not really a revolving door status 🙂
“Shoigu, moves on after 12 successful years in his role as Russian defense minister. He architected the expansion of Russia’s military industrial complex to eclipse that of the collective west”
That’s the version of reality you will not hear on DW.

Revolving doors - are you sure you’re not describing British Tory government DW?
"DW's Russia analyst." Think about the way Eggert is introduced by the DW anchor, "our expert." Maybe relying overwhelmingly on one "in house" analyst is not such a good idea? Yet DW has a small stable of go-to analysts that they use over and over and over. That's convenient for them, but not conducive to a diversity of views and self-critical analysis. Consequently, even though people on the outside marvel at the terrible track record of these experts and wonder why they are never called out (or even replaced?) for their consistently failed predictions, those inside the "DW bubble" all praise and support each other. It's kind of funny with the chaos and corruption on display in Ukraine to hear them highlight Russia's "revolving door" of leadership and "widespread corruption." Sure Russia is corrupt, but at least the money to build defensive lines was spent to build defensive lines. In Ukraine, along the Northern border with Russia, it seems that only 30% of the money allocated for building defensive lines was actually spent for that. With the result that those lines are about 30% effective.
Quite clearly the opposite of the revolving door based on these tenures.
I guess Shoigu got tired of winning so he retired 😂

Belousov is a very capable politician economist and organizer. Given Russia's overwhelming dominance in the battlefield, Putin needs someone with the abilities of Belousov to deal with the aftermath of the inevitable colapse of Ukraine. Everything else is just guesses.
You’re guessing aswell
a little premature for that, don't you think? It's not like the war is going to end any time soon, 2 years from now they will still be fighting over the Donbass...

More likely Putin is more worried about the way things are going on the home front and wants someone he trusts completely, if the new offensive goes well it was because Shogun planned it, if it fails then the new guy is the fall guy.

You normally promoted someone whose done a great job, unless you thought Shoigu done a great job considering the long Ukraine war. It should have been obvious to most people.
Shoigu promotion is more like de facto retirement. It's simillar to how Valeri Zaluzhnyi appointed as UK ambassador of Ukraine.

Nevermind that Zelensky has pretty much replaced his entire war cabinet since the war started. Countries change their cabinets and leadership all the time. What's the big deal? UK has had three Prime Ministers in the last four years.
Maybe that the 64 km tank train sent to take Kiev hasn't returned and they are still along way from taking all of Donbass let alone Kiev because Russia is too weak
Comparing apples and oranges. That´s how Ukraine and UK work, but not Putin´s government. Shoigu has been in Putin´s inner circle for 30 years, Putin had always trusted him absolutely, so it´s a big deal when he´s moved from a source of money and military power (aka the Ministry of Defence).
@martavdz4972 Your irrational hatred of all things Russian is forcing you to try and find something positive for the Ukrainians in a non-story. This is nothing more than a post-election cabinet shuffle. They happen all the time in Western governments. If Shoigu was truly on the outs, then he'd be disappeared like Prigozhin, not promoted to head of the national security council. Ukraine and the West are so desperate for good news that they're clutching at straws now.
Ukraine replaced several high ranking officials but the west so it as strategic.
Ukraine is also cleaning up its army, Eliminating corruption, Refurbishing or removing old weapons and Restructuring its army. Russia is also doing the same. Both the parties have switched to a war economy, they are gearing up for a long war.

They have truly streamlined the procedure... Shoigu will be promoted with an emphasis on the Russian military industrial complex, which the western media has not identified as a national security adviser... As a national security council adviser, he has grown closer to Putin... whereas the new guy is an economist technocrat who will bring more money for military expansion by relieving Shoigu of administrative duties!!!
As usual, the Western media portrays this as a setback; nonetheless, this is an excellent step in the midst of a major NATO escalation threat.
The spending on the army this year is three times the spending on education, health, and ecology combined!. This is why an economist was chosen to rectify this very odd situation.
This whole war is usless and attritive. It will have even deeper implications on Russia as time passes. Also sanctions are really hurting, although Mr. Lavrove keeps making fun of them.
The military spending is so high because Russia can't take a small village without first blowing it to pieces, losing 30 tanks and paying crazy wages to convince people to be human meatwaves in the process to capture a village with 50 houses. Because of their wastefulness, they have to produce way more military equipment than they should.
@@bigfudge2031when you fight against archers in sandals like the west used to do after ww2 it might be not clear that real war is different.
The most interesting here is the "grinder": how is that possible when Ru army started with 200k men group in 2022, then mobilized 300k reservists only once, currently has 600k on the front, destroyed ukr counter offensive in 2023, started offensive now - and all that with only one mobilisation? Where are the "grinders", how is that possible just in terms of math?
@LidiaIsakova because mobilisation is completely different to recruiting. If people are mobilised, they are legally required to fight, if they are recruited they are paid well, but they are voluntary joining. Because the Kremlin doesn't want to cause unrest by doing another mobilisation, their only other option is to recruit (and not all those volunteers are Russians)
I do not understand why Russia does not supply the Houthis with hypersonic missiles capable of hitting US cities, because in the US view, supplying weapons does not mean being drawn into a military conflict.
