    Running into this now with my Subaru, one small part needed to finish the repair is on indefinite backorder and my rental expired yesterday with GEICO.

    This is old news I work in insurance and this has been a problem since early 2021

      I don't work in insurance or anything to do with automobiles. I knew this

      Early 2021 is not old news. Maybe ten years ago is old news but not a year ago. Sheesh.

      The difference is simple is getting worse as the time go by . I work in the auto parts industry, so what the banks and insurance will expect a lot of delinquent accounts and people filing bankruptcy and let the banks pick up a pile of junk instead of running cars

    They should total the car if it cannot be fix in a timely manner. These wicked corporations. I am in this same situation paying for my car sitting in a repair shop for months and out of pocket rental.

      The high end car is $ 60K , 30K is still repairable.

    • @rainesbobo
      @rainesbobo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn't even equal half the value. It is a repairable vehicle

      @@rainesbobo maybe on the numbers but if it was your car would you want it repaired? A lot of body shop work today pretty mediocre quality, i would push for a total.

      @@skeptick6513 I work for a collision shop as an estimator and yes I would want my car repaired. The damage looks worse than it is on that vehicle

      @@rainesbobo problem writing off new car is insured often takes a beating unless they have replacement value coverage but unless there was a serious financial hit i would rather my car be totalled. I mean would you rather own a never wrecked vehicle or one that suffered substantial damage? If your car has a dirty carfax a lot of dealers wont wont to trade it or will lowball you. Same if you later resell the car privately and the accident damage is picked up. You familiar with diminished value claims or cases when cars were so poorly repaired that the insurers bought them back? The shop you work in might do a good job restoring the car to pre-accident condition but a lot dont and i know that because i was in that business 30 years. Saw some serious hackish work even in the better shops. But as long as the car is all shiny again most owners are pretty clueless about what is or is not a proper repair.

    Congress would have to create a law to address this… but you know that’s not happening either… so the average American is basically screwed…

    This is for people buying these new cars, just purchase cars made 10 to 15 yrs ago, Why are they still making cars it's just cars sitting in lots all over Detroit, Mound, Van Dyke millions of vehicles just sitting who are making vehicles for what about all those vehicles just sitting

      So tell me how not selling parts makes more $$$ ? Velocity of sales is what makes $$$. Do you really think that automakers are going to not make cars / parts and risk the customer moving to another brand because they found a car on someone else's lot and never coming back?

    I am sorry but it is not just this guys and his ACURA. It is EVERY vehicle nationwide. And it is not Progressive's fault he bought a policy with only 30 days rental coverage.
