Hope you like joining me for a little day in my life! If you also have (too) many jobs, hope this video makes you feel seen :) Also is this the first time I've shown myself dancing on here? maybe? lol
That’s exactly my story😂 I am in my junior year of mechanical engineering because I need money, used to be in a break dance crew with my brother and I am currently training on the side to write and draw a webtoon 😂 that’s insane nahhh now I know it’s possible 🥲thank you
i would love to hear more about how you got your day-job down to 20hrs a week! i too am a creative girly in STEM. having a half-time engineering job to pay the bills while working on my other passions with those time gains would be the dreeeam! i quit my STEM job last year to do some career soul-searching, but lately am thinking of getting back to it for the increased financial freedoms.
heyy if you don't mind me asking, what did you work as in engineering? I'm studying robotics engineering and I'd love a flexible job where I could pursue my career alongside other interests
I'm just about to start 24hours a week as an engineer after having a baby. The best advice I can give is to just ask, the worst they can say is no. Not sure what the environment is like in your country, but for STEM in the UK it is very much a worker's market. Finding the right candidate isn't easy and so companies are willing to be flexible to retain employees or for the right new hire. If you're applying for a job, explain that you already have a part time job that has flexible hours so you can fit it around the job you're applying for. If you're currently employed, state that you're building a business and that you don't want to have it impact on your role. Phrase it in a way that implies that you're doing them a favour by working less hours. eg, by working less, you're able to work more productive during working hours as you won't be so tired from overwork, you want to slightly imply that you'll get almost as much done in less hours, but don't actually say that (because you won't 😂). You also will want to give off a vibe of "if you don't give me this, I will leave anyway". Because nothing annoys a STEM manager more than having to hire someone new to replace someone else who was more than capable.
fellow young creator here - juggling full time work, school, and creating (just started 2 months ago so it's been crazy busy learning and creating). thank you for sharing this - it's so serene, so lovely, and so raw. you inspire!
i’m a 21 year old in college, and i’m someone who is interested in multiple things and has been struggling with the idea that i have to choose one career to do for the rest of my life. this video has shown me that i can do multiple things! i’m in school for accounting and finance but i’m also interested in video editing and branding/graphic design. also, i think it’s so cool you’re a professional dancer! when i was in elementary school, i wanted to be a professional singer and dancer (i’m a terrible singer lol). i still dance but i never entertained the thought of doing it professionally in the nba or nfl. my inner child is happy for you 😊
you are crushing it!! so cool to see your day in the life and infusing your time with the activities you love (drawing & journaling in the morning?? before work?? a creative icon)
heeey, your intro was enough to understand myself too! I'm also quite creative and need multiple outlets. one job wouldn't do, so I do some programming, some research (what i actually studied), do some literature with professional aimings and then some little jobs here and there when friends need to write something technical, or have some logo design done. I once even had the opportunity of reviewing a theather script! people always make me feel as unfocused and distracted, but i feel that i know exactly what i want: a main adventure and my side quests. Watching you, it gave me some true inspiration to keep moving on with my life and forget the criticisms. it's just that creativity is like this and I don't know, so far it has worked perfectly.
This is the first video I find of you and I love you immediately. I’ve always been multi passionate and all different things and the fact that you’re doing 3 or 4 completely different things is so amazing and incredibly inspiring. Been in a funk lately and I’m finally starting to find my spark again and finding this video is just perfect. I can’t wait to see more of your content. You are amazing ❤️
You literally have the exact life I dream about.. This is exactly what I envison myself doing: engineering, dance and art💖 You are such an inspiration for me omg
Love your videos! As an Engineer who adores dancing and arts (though not a dancer and artist-yet) your content inspires me to explore my creative side. Thanks for the motivation!!💪🎨
As someone working in finance and being both a writer and artist while also trying to keep up with countless other hobbies I have, this is so motivating! I’ve been feeling burnt out lately and I stumbled upon this ❤ thanks for the lovely video. Wishing you luck in all your jobs and future endeavors
I'm doing a 42h work week atm (normal for Switzerland) and finishing my masters both in geology and wanting to also take my art to a more serious/small biz level. I'm seeing more and more people like you in a science job AND doing art and thats really inspiring. Gonna launch my TH-cam this summer once I've submitted my master thesis!
The algorithm suggested this video to me and i’m so happy! I’m also an engineer - i’ve been trying to get back to my youtube channel and learn how to better balance my time while doing so, and your video was so helpful 💖 Thank you!
So cool that you listen to bossa nova! I'm from Brazil, I also love it, and it is so nice to see it reaching many places. I also love your videos BTW. They inspire me a lot!
I feel really inspired by your videos and I feel like I was supposed to see this today! I also work as an engineer and am discovering my creativity. Super motivated to go all in now alongside balancing it with my job! We got this 💃🏽
Yay I love this! I hope more people you follow, er, "unconventional"(??) career paths show their lives on TH-cam, it's so fun to watch! And I like how your jobs are all different disciplines, too, haha. I think this makes you a multipotentialite!!
Great job. Remind me of me. Im a fill time student, research assistant, and starting small embroidery business. I need to learn how to do content creation
you're so cool! I was thinking about leaving art and my other hobbies :( to focus on my software engineering career, but seeing you balancing your hobbies and works inspired me to keep trying and do all the things i like to do !!
Love the video!!! Would love to hear more about the engineering side of your work as someone studying engineering as well, though I understand if you're not able to go into specifics due to company policies
Soooo motivating and inspiring 🌼 thank you so much for showing us that it is possible and most of all, that it's OK to have multiple passions (and jobs). 🙌
Hi Gabi! I’ve been really loving your videos. I really enjoy seeing how you balance all of your responsibilities and stay productive while also finding time for creativity and fun! I’m so happy we got to see a little bit of you dancing this time too. I love dance content and have always dreamed about being a dancer. Is that something you’re interested in sharing more of? Because I would definitely be excited to watch it. Also, I LOVE carrot cake! I used to work at a vegan restaurant and they made the best carrot cake and I would take a piece home every night haha. I think I like it because it is not too sweet and the carrots help keep the cake moist. If you like carrot cake you would probably also enjoy zucchini bread!
Civil Engineer here. Girl, 20h engineering job? That is the life. I worked 14.5h and that was just a Monday 😂. But keep up the vibes and push forward. You seem to have your s" in order and very inspirational. Many love from South Africa. 🎉
Love carrot cake & loved this video as always. I also have 2 jobs and am trying to also start an art business on top of those so I always relate to your videos like this.
Love carrot cake, but I hate sweet icing. So a minimal amount of cream cheese frosting is ideal. Too thick or too stiff of frosting means I won’t attempt cause it’s AWFUL
such a good idea to thrift old suitcases for storage! although the smell might be an issue haha. I just recently upgraded from recycled cardboard boxes to actual decorative storage containers and it feels like such an upgrade. also I love carrot cake and I've never met someone who didn't 🤷♀
Thank you for your videos! Literally the spark of inspo x kick in the butt I need to actually do what I’m passionate about and consider making somewhat of a career out of them. Your attitude is everything 💖
Hi Gabi! I've been enjoying your videos for so long, and finally took the plunge to start a channel. I posted my first video a few minutes ago, and your insights are so encouraging and helpful 😊 Thank you for being such a warm light in the interwebs! 💙
Hey girlie, as a Brazilian I appreciate the bossa nova shout out hahaha I loooove to start my day listening to it, makes my brain chill hard. Btw, am having a hard time finding your art shop - do you have one for prints etc? 😬 Love your vids. x
I don't know where you find the energy - I come home after one job and am too tired to paint - but I still draw all the time - - and I hope you do get into tattoos - you'll be awesome I'm sure -
Loved the video!! You're amazing!!! I really love carrot cake- though theres so man variations of it? Some are dryer and while I dont love that I still eat them because,,,because carrot cake,,
How the heck did you only work 3 hours in your engineering job a day?? I'm a female engineer and creative and I need to at least work 8 hours per day, as compulsory hours, sometimes more to get all the work done. What kind of engineering work do you do?
@@tofugoobdude thats awesome. in my field / country we only get to project management level as we gain experience / seniority. so the younger ones do all the hard work. lol I'm older, but since I worked in engineering part time for so long, I'm not at the same experience level as my peers and as such i'm not at senior / project management level.
for my 7th birthday I chose a carrot cake for my party, and all the parents of my friends kept making comments like, "wow, carrot cake. thats an interesting choice for a 7 year old." And truly, I only chose it for the cute icing carrots on top. It wasn't a huge hit. its kinda a meh cake in my life now. Don't hate it, don't love it. Will mostly just eat the icing. Still love those little icing carrots tho. :)
That sounds like a dream but then I'm wondering what can you even get done in just 3 hours 🥲 Edit - I saw her replying to some comment below where she said that she's into project management, ig that's doable

As an environmental engineering student with a major creative side, this is so cool to see!! Out of curiosity, what field of engineering are you in?

I have a part time energy engineering job! It's more project management
