I wish they made the tactical version with a drop point and a swedge like the hunter but longer. I'd give a version like that a 5, but this is a solid 4. It's an excellent design no doubt.
Literally the only reason for this knife is for fighting. The handguard allows the user more area for blocking attacks. Why they deem one tactical and the other not makes no sense
It is a weird knife but looks like a strong tool. Too tactical to my primitive looks but hey, you are left with that and it is going to save the day for sure. Thanks for the review.
The Tanto as a tactical knife 4/5 as a bushcraft/survival knife 2/5 as a multipurpose knife 2/5 The Hunter as a tactical knife 3/5 as a bushcraft/survival knife 3/5 as a multipurpose knife 3/5
It's got a bit of a cool factor, and I am sure it's all kinds of strong. My only concern is that guard which may limit my range of motion for some tasks and kind of limits the usability but not by much. However I have never had my hands on it so will give it the benefit of the doubt and give it hesitant 3.5 out 5. Like you said if I was already hurting and now tearing up my hands on the gripping, jimping....
I think it is one strong fighting/CQC knife that could be used for other purposes. If I found one in my area I would buy it. Not my first choice for bushcraft but, not every knife i carry is for bushcraft.
You should do a review on that epic mustache! ;-) As far as the knife is concerned, I also understand the design behind the knife, but it's not something I could see myself purchasing. I can see how it make sense for a pure combat knife. But I can think of better products for that purpose as well.
To me, both knives are a big 5🌟❗️but only as tactical knives. I can't see myself using these in the bush, unless it's all I have. Great option for a Get Home Bag in times of civil unrest or running into the "have nots." If the jimping is an issue, maybe a coat of liquid latex can take the bite out of it.
Decent looking for a Tactical blade, I don't like tantos or serrations as much as I used to but my usage has changed from tactical to camp tasks. I'd like to see how you did with the hunter for the camp tasks like feather sticks. I think that might have worked out better and I do understand that's not really the purpose but like you said if your life depends on the blade you could wind up in a situation that requires survival tasks. Great video.
Forgot a rating. It looks like it would do what it's made for well so I'd say 4 even though it's not my style anymore but I do like a bigger hunter like mentioned below.
I'm not sure if that would be legal here in the UK. Knuckle bows are legal I think, but knuckledusters are definately not. It would depend on what they class it as I suppose. As for the score, as a woods tool, I'd have to give it a 1. As a tactical EDC option for the Klingon version of a Mall Ninja, then it would get a definate 5.
Good review.. however i dont think the knife is very practical. If the blade was longer like 7-10 inches i think it would be a better knife. Any other fixed blade do just as good if not better. Also i would like to see some more of survival tactics stuff and gun reviews. Thanks chris and wingman. Here in a few month im start my own channel of gun gear and knife reviews. Im going to do review on the junglas that survival tactics duracoated for me. Anyways thanks guys.
Hi Jon. It is only my opinion, but I can't think of one single reason to buy this knife. In either bush craft or a tactical theater situation, I can instantly think of a dozen others that would out perform this knife. But I must admit, it has a good Hollywood look. Conan the Barbarian would dig this.
Jeff Thanks for the comment. Chris gave me a mission impossible mission to review these knives. I told him I was up for the challenge. Thanks for watching.
Holy cow man at first I thought this was another spoof thingy... Chris did one on the 80's Rambo fake knife and it looked like you had some kind of get up on with the glasses, tight shirt and all those straps. Ummm but you were serious... joke's on me! I can't really rate that thing because it is so unusual and I would have to get hands on but I would never buy it... just not for me. Nice job though.
It's a very unique and powerful tactical knife, but I'm not a fan of the "tacticool" design. Giving it a trench knife-esque guard seems very unnecessary, and I bet shopping for sheaths for it is impossible.
Yeah, I suppose a sheath would have to be a custom order. Apparently custom kydex's don't cost too much, though. And the only use I could see the massive hand guard for would POSSIBLY be retaining the knife if you didn't have a good grip on it? I dunno, looks like a Hollywood supervillain-type thing...
I like the gerber bear g ultimate survival knife which I no is not the best knife is there anything like it with the pummel and ferrel rod and full features it has? Under $150
I don't know about this one. It has uncomfortable jimping that I am not sure has any point. Your hand is locked in place by the nature of the grip. I don't see it slipping even if covered in motor oil. Are the inside edges of the guard radiused? That would seem to be very important. Edge geometry looks ok for a tanto. The serrations look very similar to the ones Gerber uses so that's a big plus. I think that if the handle isn't radiused on it's inside edges and the jimping is as painful as you indicate that I couldn't go more than a 2.5 on the tanto. You didn't really cover the hunter but if it has the same deficiencies as the tanto I'd likely give it the same score. Less if it doesn't lend itself to the alternative grips that can be necessary when processing game.
Hmmm.... Well I would have to give it a 2 to 2.25. It's not totally worthless but for me I like to see a knife that excels in one or more rolls and is adequate in several others. This knife just doesn't strike me as being outstanding in any rolls at all. Weirdly enough I would have liked seeing a version of this knife that was a little less of a jack-of-all-trades. (example: I would like to see this knife with an (at least) 7 inch blade and loose the serrations. ) Great review sorry for the negative opinion on the knife.
Okay, I'm sucker for knives that are kind of out there in design. Looking at this objectively, it has a very wide, thin blade; that should make it for cutting. It has an americanised tanto edge, which gives it two planes to cut from, but reduces its cutting effectiveness for long draw cuts. It has a tanto edge, so it is good for penetration. It has serrations, which means it is good for chewing through tough materials, but is no replacement for a saw. It has a huge hand guard which lends credibility as a fighting knife, it seems like they were sending a call back to old basket hilted blades and, more recently, WWI trench knives. The handle scales are removable, which, with it's wide surface area, lends it to be a great lashing tool. Lash it vertically to a stick and you have a spear. Useful. Lash it horizontally and you can use it for game traps and as a makeshift axe/pick. So, as a tactitool, I would give it 3.5-4/5. This isn't a super tool, it can't do everything, but as far as a cutting tool goes, it offers a lot of utility. As a bushcraft tool, I would give it a 2/5. You could use it if you had to, but the americanised tanto point and the serration kind of kills it's usable edge length for batoning. This knife has effectively no traditional bushcraft features, but if push came to shove, you could use it, but I would not suggest it. This isn't surprising due the it being a tactical knife, but I call it as I see it. Thanks for the review Wingman115, all the best.
Interesting design, I see what they were trying to do but went a little to.... Far maybe a-lot of steel for a 4 inch or 3 inch blade it's suppose to be a hand guard; that suppose to be able what? Type? While keeping the knife on? No to sure about it? So 3 but one point for being original!!!!! I think more refinement and then you got something wicked useful!!
I am sure will will be seeing it in a movie soon. Cool but I don't think it's that practical. I have kind of gotten over buying a knife just because it's cool. Though I still have my original undertaker bowie half Knife half brass knuckles and it came in a coffin shaped wood box. Practical heck no but it sat displayed on my desk for years. And yes it was a heck of a letter opener. I enjoyed watching the vid though.
not gonna lie, this knife looks ridiculous. I can think of many knives that will 1) be equal or less cost to purchase.2) have higher quality steel.3)better ergonomics / blade shape, i really dislike tanto blades 4) it will also be USA made. This knife is basically a modern trench knife..
Good review
I took a Dremel to the jimping on mine and I don't have any complaints now :) Jon did a great job!
I wish they made the tactical version with a drop point and a swedge like the hunter but longer. I'd give a version like that a 5, but this is a solid 4. It's an excellent design no doubt.
Odood19 A longer version would be nasty brah!!! It'd be like a cutlass :D
Literally the only reason for this knife is for fighting. The handguard allows the user more area for blocking attacks. Why they deem one tactical and the other not makes no sense
@@davidp6913 "The most tactical knife in the world is the one you are wielding" -probably someone
I wish more knives had a chisel on the back.
How about a review for stout gear knives
looks as though it would be better suited to skinning and gutting game, that's about all id buy it for
It is a weird knife but looks like a strong tool. Too tactical to my primitive looks but hey, you are left with that and it is going to save the day for sure. Thanks for the review.
A serrated blade are not meant to cut wood. It is for cutting tendons and tough hides
The Tanto
as a tactical knife 4/5
as a bushcraft/survival knife 2/5
as a multipurpose knife 2/5
The Hunter
as a tactical knife 3/5
as a bushcraft/survival knife 3/5
as a multipurpose knife 3/5
Might be great as a griddle for frying pancakes.

I was brought up that if you don't have anything nice to say you shouldn't say anything at all. I'll leave it at that about my thoughts on this knife.
why is it so wide ? is it also a sailed ?
Five on both knives. My choice is the hunter. I want to see a ham deboned with both knives. Maybe a deer hind quarter. Don Remington Magnum/Ultramag

Thanks for watching. Not sure about the tight shirt thing. Note to self don't leave the 100% cotton shirt in the dryer to long.
Can I get the tan one with the case for this channel? Lol

I like it but not $500 like it
This guy should change his name from wingman to wingnut before the government sends him to Iraq to test it on some necks
LOL good stuff thanks for watching.

Let's go with one rating. The thing looks and performs like a$$.
The serrations didn't work at all. Better of without it or make it bigger.
it looks too gimmicky. Someone decided to try and update a trench knife.
No thanks
Those are a rating of 1. Brass knuckles with a blade, nothing new here!
I really don't like the look of the Knife lol
not gonna lie, this knife looks ridiculous. I can think of many knives that will 1) be equal or less cost to purchase.2) have higher quality steel.3)better ergonomics / blade shape, i really dislike tanto blades 4) it will also be USA made. This knife is basically a modern trench knife..
This has got to be the most horrible looking thing I've ever seen.
Looks like a gimmicky novelty blade, I wouldn't buy it!
Useless knife and waste the time and money
