    Never noticed this video of yours but the Bernina Express is a journey I'd love to do. Last summer I travelled between Milan and Bern, Basel and Milan and on other through Swiss services and they were amazing, albeit a bit pricey.
    In any case you'll find it funny that the Giruno trainsets, now the main EuroCity trains, are actually named like that in Romansh, as Giruno apparently means Buzzard (and yet no standard gauge trains ever went into Romansh speaking areas)

    Thanks for this video. Since you didn't reserve an observation car, would it be accurate that it provided you with overhead storage for your bags? It didn't look like there was much room for bags in the observation cars. Also, were you allowed to even visit the observation cars, assuming there was space?

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Reymore, thanks for the comment. I went from Zurich to Tirano but it’s very important that you book your ticket from Singen NOT Zurich to Tirano via Chur and do it departing from Singen the day BEFORE the rest of your journey. That means you can connect in Zurich early morning and have the rest of the day for the trip. Because you are booking from Singen this gives you the cheaper price as it’s the last station in Germany. Skip to 4:45 to see the ticket details and use that as a guide. When you get to Tirano just but a ticket to Milan from the Trenitalia office across the square.

    Wooow very informative and nice journey. I will take Bernina from Zurich to make a stay at Como via Tirano. When I search trip from Tirano the Eurail gives me stop at Monza, also in Trenitalia. If I do search on SBB there is also option to change train at Lugano. But both services are having Bus transportation as the first trip. With Eu/Trenit is to Sondrio and some for SBB is to Lugano. Both options are similar time lapse. If I will continue travelling North Italy do you recommend buy in advance Eurail Pass? Does it include the front Bernina carriages? Eurail covers also trains in Swisszertland?

      The open window coaches are included in the swiss pass, but not on the Bernina Express (for those seats you need to pay additional for a seat reservation). Meaning, you can travel in the same train but in a different coach (where seats cannot be reserved), where you can open the windows. In the normal Bernina Express coaches no window will open.

    • @mikatu
      @mikatu 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the Bernina Express coaches the windows don't open at all. You need to travel on the regular coaches (same train) for the windows to open, those seats don't require a seat reservation. For the Bernina Express coaches you can pick first or second class, but always need to pay for a seat reservation plus the windows don't open! That sucks.

      From memory, the ‘normal’ carriages at the front you can just buy a normal ticket (best way is as described in the video). I think you do need a reservation for the tourist carriages behind it. Nonstop Eurotrip made a good video on that section of the train a few weeks ago. Cheers 👍

      Yeh, there’s ways and means though I think in the EU the cross-border travel can work to your advantage depending on which country/company you book with. I’ve got a trip coming up from Cologne to Prague which is much cheaper to book with Czech Railways than DB.
