I think the spam cans are gorgeous in express blue Harry, this is a total treat mate. I have 257 in malachite green and its a great model, Hornby do a brilliant job with these and frankly it's one that doesnt need an update for another 10 years IMO. But, as you say, smoke gen would be great on it! Great vid as always mate.
Hi Hylton, thank you for commenting my friend hope you are well! And yes I absolutely love this model and the bullied design is so iconic. And you could be quite right it definitely holds in terms of detail to modern standards but I personally think a re release should at least include a flickering firebox. But I’m holding out hope for that smoke detector 😊 keep well mate!
Fabulous loco, excellent review, I have the same model but "Royal Mail" in Southern Green 21C3, I also have the rebuilt Canadian Pacific in the experimental Blue, along with shed mates also rebuilt, New Zealand Line, and Brockleback Line in BR green. I agree about some mods if Hornby do retool, although I think the firebox flicker might be a bit lost in the cab with the tender close coupled. ...Drew
Hi Drew, thanks for the comment and wow sounds quite the collection. I do need to get a malachite green loco one day. And yes you make a good point, but for those that have tighter curves I think would benefit. But who knows I’m secretly routing for a steam generator version 😊👍
The noise is one of the pickups as you hinted but as you said it sounds like wheel flange squeal so leave it. Nice review and you graded it well. Jersey Bill
Hi Jersey Bill, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video as well as the rating. And yeah I do have to do an investigation as to what is causing the noise but that’s for another day 😊👍
