I followed your steps, looked under the fan. The paste wasn't dry. I used my finger to wipe it around a bit, then reinstalled the fan. It worked. Thanks man!
Thanks a million for publishing this video because it put me onto the correct solution. The PC would turn off almost immediately at boot-up and the power button was flashing orange. I believe it showed 2 blips and then 1 blip. I replaced the CMOS battery as shown in the video, but that didn't fix the problem. The solution was cleaning the old thermal paste off the CPU and CPU cooling fins with alcohol, and then applying fresh thermal paste. After booting up, the power button is now solid white.
I was just about to buy a new motherboard then I saw this video. I did exactly like you said, and then, BAM, it worked.. Thanks for saving me some money...
My 9020 just started doing exactly what is shown in this video. Mine was off over night but when I went to turn it on, it started this loop you show. Since it was not running and cold, am I correct in assuming it is not the heat sink issue? I was told to try replacing the cmos battery and unplugging and reseating the ram. Great, clear video.
Buenas. Te lo digo en castellano. Eres un auténtico CRACK!!!! Muchas Gracias! Thank You very much!! I cleaned the thermal paste on the fan, I put new and expanded thermal paste. After a few days the problem returned. I replaced the battery and it worked again. regards
Great video. Just got this motherboard used on Ebay for a new storage server and I'm experiencing this symptom, thinking I received a lemon. Who knows when the CPU thermal paste was applied, so at least I have something I can try when troubleshooting tomorrow. Thank you; clear explanation and great presentation.
Well, thankfully for mine, it was just the fan thinking it was over heating (thankfully tho, your guide helped me figure out how to open it, as I was scared I'd break something:D so thank you!
Thanks it worked on a Optiplex 7020 too. My power button was not working the green led on power supply was not lit. I pressed the button on power supply and it ran all the fans. After using your tip it worked again.
I'm not seeing a green light on outside of PSU, my on/off button blinks rapidly an now real slow. is my PSU failed? sys won't boot up. thanks for advice
I fixed mine by removing the RAM, un-plugging a few wires, wiggling the loose WIFI card, cleaning some dust and other gentle wiggling of "things" AND letting it sit over-nite and threatening to buy a lap-top !!
@@mrhitsjr4775 I still had a light on the power supply, but nothing else - just break the computer down as far as you feel capable and clean-wiggle the internals (gently) then re-assemble.
I got mine working again by unplugging it completely let the led go out take the little battery out then wait 30 seconds put the battery back in and bam should stay on now
Ok, thank for the help on that. Pulled it apart changed the battery out reset heat paste was still wet. So replaced battery put it back together but still won't turn back on but it stopped beeping and the fan stays running now. But the cpu will not come back on all the way.
The problem I have is that it freezes at first on the BIOS screen optiplex 790 series And it stays like this, no matter what you do, you change everything
I had an incident where I was working on a monitor and shorter out while still plugged into a power supply that my next top was plugged in too. Yes I know, I'm an idiot and forgot to unplug power supply and lucky this is all that happened. Now the optiplex will not power on power, no lights up front and supply light doesn't even turn on. If I press and hold button power supply is the PC fans come on high I and the green light stays lit but nothing else happens. Anybody ever run into this it is there a fix if so?
My Dell power light switch was eaten by a rat. can this be the reason for the same issue as this video? beep and power sitch light on and turn off again.
@@kenphillz2334 i just fixed mine. all good. from no display always beeps turn on and off simultaneously. I just bought cmos battery, replace new ssd, format windows 10 and it works fine to me. i play dota 2 with that pc. soon ill upgrade it to max ram and GPU low profile. hope it works for you mate.

If you dont have thermal paste than what? Should i wipe the dry thermal paste and fix the fan without applying thermal paste than its work or not?
