- This video Computer Power supply PSU fault troubleshooting and repair shows how to repair Computer SMPS of new generation PSU of computers like DELL pc.
I have shown the repairing of Computer SMPS, ATX power supply.
The output we are getting from SMPS are-
3.3 V ...... 14 Amp
5 V ......... 25 Amp
12 V........ 14 Amp
5V .......... 2 Amp
-5 V
-12 V...

Hi what do you mean by checking in series? And what device did you connected to check?
An electric bulb {filament bulb} of 100watt or 200watt can be used in series.

Resp Sir! Dell SPMS was Secondary Section Was not Out Put Sir. Which Problem Sir. and one a time Siries Lamp was Glowing Sir and again not Glowing sir. MOV Varistor Problem Sir. not Out put Sir and Power Transistors Desplayed Value Two Side, Which Problem Sir. -- Chinna Rao, Paderu, Visakhapatnam Dist. AP.,
but when you checked the resistor, it gave a value, it didn't give open "|" on the multi-meter screen .. so how did you know it was the resistor since it gave numbers on the diode mode ?

video tutorials are not good. You replace it without measuring it and you remove it.

Wonderful bro.There are so many videos on atx smps but not informative as yours.I suggest,upload a new video on this topic in which the primary consists only single mosfet , and ic tmy567pn ,and or tmy566pn,,-576,-577,-578,-579,-for generating 5v stdbyvotage , switching the atx smps on when excited just by one kick of earth point to the green terminal.
☝Sir how to power on this types of smps without mother bord which two wire can be link for power on ?? Please describe

Hi , thanks for sharing . I have been using my atx power supply as an bench power supply to power my embedded projects.. Today when I used it once after I turned it off and turned it back on after a while.. The only standby light is working.. And its not responding to PS_ON as that pin is shorted to ground through a switch..
What can possibly go wrong with it suddenly ? .. No swollen caps and no burnt fuse.. Its just not responding to the PSOn any ways yo troubleshoot it ?

My friend, my computer is like this computer. It has a problem. When I connect it to the electricity, it works directly without pressing the power button, but nothing appears on the screen and it keeps turning on and off several times.
Normally psu bist light blink everytime you plug the computer. Right. But now , i plug no sign of light anymore.

Bro how do know the power supply is dead. I try to test my psu, only psu motherboard and processor are intact. My psu is BIST BUTTON FREE. I remove the 4pin 8pin connector from the motherboard , then plug the psu. The Bist light glow for 3 second, i put back again, it won't glow. No sign of light,
I try also psu test using paper clip method jamper black and green the psu bist light glow and the fan is spinning
Is my motherboard is dead or my psu?

I shall share what I had repaired. I repaired this psu recently. You can see that there is a standby voltage transformer. It is a 12vsb .the green wire will have 12 v and it is also a ps on for the motherboard.. the rest of the cables are 12V. From the architecture , I can see it has a standby and a main section. Good luck to those who wish to try.. to test it, short the green cable to black and the led and fan will be on. 12 v will appear too. This apply to dell psu but not to Lenovo and Acer psu. Their Atx 3.0 standard is not common.

Hello i just want ask. I hope you answer. You test the psu using the light on / off , while you insert the 2 wire is thier any component inserted to the 4pin and 6pin. If nothing let me know. So to diagnose this kind psu if shorted , just do what did you do. Thang you..

Thanks! I know it's an old video but does anyone know the part number for the fan in this power supply? Mine is getting noisy. By the looks of it, it seems easy to replace but I don't want to take the whole thing apart and back together just to check the part number so I can order it.

In my case my power supply turns on when i push the test button but second time it does not turn on. To turn it on i have to unplug it for several hours and then it does the same thing all over again. what can be the problem?
