      Although, they could’ve easily taken out all the guards, but they had no way to escape the island, as we didn’t see any other ships or boats besides the one they arrived in, which our heroes just stole, so it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

    It's either the finale or penultimate episode of season 2, Azula tells the Earth King "It's so unfortunate when you can't trust the people closest to you." This is in regard to him discovering the years of lying and manipulation from the Dai Li.
    When she says it though, Mai and Ty Li look at each other very subtly.

    The reaction to Mai and Ty Lee betraying Azula is always so epic.
    Two things. When Mai said "I love Zuko more than I fear you," Azula probably flashed back to her mom feeling the same way. And hearing "I guess you just don't know people as well as you think you do" probably also felt personally insulting, because she prides herself on her ability to read and manipulate people without ever being caught off guard.

    In season 1 Zuko said that Azula was born lucky.

    I think this is the first time Azula is actually uncontrollably mad. Since her first episode, she’s been able to control herself and only allow mild frustration on her face.
    Once Mai betrays her, she still doesn’t understand how she didn’t see it coming. Then when Mai doubles down, Azula gets PISSED. You can see that she goes straight for the kill.

    Unpopular opinion: Mai is the most complex character in ATLA. Even characters like Zuko, who have faced much trauma, can be understood fairly easily. But Mai... You'll only truly understand her if you know how someone who's been bullied their entire life would behave. Even at her strongest, she is not stronger than Azula, so she does her bidding... Until the time when Azula threatens Zuko's life, at which point she snaps. ATLA never makes Mai's previous life obvious. But there are small hints all over the place.

    Ah, the jaw dropping Boiling Rock episodes.
    People say Mai and Ty Lee betraying Azula was such a shock. I think not. Mai and Ty Lee aren't Azula's friends. At best, they are favored servents. At worst, they are pampered slaves. Neither are places anyone wants to be. Azula did miscalculate. But, I think the miscalculation was her letting Mai and Zuko get back together. They rekindled their relationship. Mai appears stoic, blah, and devoid of emotion. She is the opposite, but she suppresses everything because her family's reputation and political career are always at stake. The overly emotional Zuko evens her out. And, she can be free around him. Azula thought she could extinguish their flame for each other because she doesn't understand caring about someone more than yourself, and she certainly underestimated Mai's ability to care for someone.

    One thing to note is when Azula and Mai are about to throw down, Azula is about to lightning bend to Mai at point blank range. Easily a killing blow.

    I feel you guys were a little too harsh on the badass evil girl trio lol. Don't get me wrong your reactions are great but multiple times you guys said "azula isn't this she is dumb and evil and stupid" or something like that. But she is smart AF. And it's so cool and awesome to watch. She is easily the best villain and Mai and ty Lee are also really compelling characters especially after this episode.

    Avatar is one of the greatest animated series, but one plot hole I can find: fire nation prisons. I really do not understand why fire nation take prisoners of war at all( They seem not to follow any "rules and customs of war", if such thing exists in Avatar world. But they do not kill prisoners (because this is a kids show!), and neither exploiting them as free labor. That's weird.

    Zuko told Ozai he was leaving to join the Gaang. Zuko being captured in the boiling rock. The guard is not a part of the Gaang. That's the only way I justify Azula knowing the guard was not a fake.

  • @rezoannur2333
    @rezoannur2333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As much as I love these episodes, there's a lot that doesn't make sense:
    1. Chit Sang said the mastermind behind the plan was a "guy who's dressed like a prison guard but isn't a prison guard" yet not once did the warden think it could be Zuko considering that's what he was disguised as. Also, the warden never questioned why Zuko was there in the first place.
    2. Zuko got into a fight with Chit Sang and was put in the same cooler they used to escape and the warden still didn't think he was part of it.
    3. Why are Suki and Chit Sang's girlfriend the only female prisoners there?
    4. Sokka is 15 while all the other prison guards are grown adults yet when lined up, the warden didn't find him to be out of place.

    • @Flash33c
      @Flash33c ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. I'll grant you the warden not further questioning Zuko is weird, but the escape plan was made after Zuko got caught, not before. Also, I could be wrong but I believe Chit Sang was still in the cooler when Zuko got caught, and considering Chit Sang's group was already known to the warden so it's reasonable to assume they didn't have any interaction with him beforehand.
      2. Likely because Zuko was his special prisoner and probably assumed he wouldn't risk getting involved with other prisoners considering he's a Fire Nation traitor.
      3. They're not, but they're the only ones shown in the show proper. Other female prisoners are shown in the comics.
      4. There are many guards working there, so one looking a bit shorter and/or younger likely wouldn't raise any suspicions.

    • @rezoannur2333
      @rezoannur2333 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Flash33cwhat are you talking about?
      chit sang got into a fight with zuko. the guards saw the fight. zuko got put in the cooler they used to escape. warden even knew which cooler it was yet didn't know zuko was put there?
      none of the prsioners recognized him. zuko wouldn't tell them who he was and would work with them.
      also, 15 year old and a fully grown adult look very different.

    • @Flash33c
      @Flash33c ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @rezoannur2333 I admit I forgot about the staged fight. As for the cooler the warden was told Chit Sang tried to use firebending to escape, hence why he talked to him then. It's possible he isn't alerted for normal cooler uses.
      True Zuko wouldn't normally reveal his true identity, but there's no guarantee the warden wouldn't instead if he majorly got out of line.

    • @rezoannur2333
      @rezoannur2333 ปีที่แล้ว

      the warden would be informed about a cooler being used for a prisoner trying to excape but not about the cooler that was used to literally escape the prison? stop with these foolish explanations and just admit the writers aren't perfect. they're still good eps but many things don't logically make sense.

    • @rezoannur2333
      @rezoannur2333 ปีที่แล้ว

      dude, the warden knew Chit Sang and his cronies weren't the mastermind behind the plan and were the only ones in the cooler when they got caught. why would zuko be there? sokka wasn't there either. none of the prisoners recognized him as zuko. he was there and the warden never questioned why. he might've worked with any prisoner so he could escape yet the warden never even suspected this. that's the hole.
