How the heck did I screw up the music AGAIN I literally scanned the entire wiki 💀. But anyways I did forget both of Diss-Pair's songs in Splatoon 2 and misattributed Kinetosis to SashiMori, I'm a fake fan I know. Still doesn't change the quantity points because Splatoon 3 had WAY more additional music (even including stuff I didn't mention like the seasonal Splatfest music) but still I dunno HOW I messed up that badly lol. Sorry y'all. I'll do better next time.
What's funny to me is that all of the regional Splatfests in the second year of _Splatoon 3_ were food-based in Japan and literally nowhere else. Handshake vs. Fist Bump vs. Hug was a Splatfest about the name of a food that I'm not even going to try to explain here. Friday vs. Saturday vs. Sunday was a collaboration Splatfest with 7-11 of all things, being Red Bean Paste vs. Custard vs. Whipped Cream. Drums vs. Guitar vs. Keyboard was another collaboration, this time with Calbee's: Lightly Salted vs. Consommé vs. Salted Seaweed.
Three idols Tri-stringer Triple themed specials Three starting bands Three weapons for the new classes Three types of shell-out jackpots 3:33 final boss in RotM 333 hazard level MAX difficulty x333 splatfest battles ... 2 kits
As far as multiplayer goes my 3 most important metrics are Kit QUALITY, Stage Quality, and Special Quality, all 3 of which Splatoon 3 falls drastically short on personally. That and the way ranked works is just worse. I loved Splatoon 2 so much and 3 has been such a disappointment for me.
I completed agree! I really hope there are improvements next game. Or that they At lest give the devs enough time to actually put in everything they want in Splat 4. Bring back good matchmaking, servers(connection), and actually give them enough time to finish the DLC, and get rid of the stupid fomo catalogue.......oh and maybe bring back the spawn shield so spawncamping isn't as much of an issue
this was a really informative and well-researched video, and i agree, Splatoon 3's updates were definitely the better ones! makes me wish i had participated in more splatfests, but hey at least we'll be getting seasonal fests back while I recover from Grand Festival... I'm excited for the Side Order - OE comparison video!!
Really great work on this one!! I have to say, Splatoon 3 really turned me off in its first year with it's map design and somewhat repetetive feeling splatfests, a lot of the game just didnt feel fantastic to play for me until year 2. Seeing as the game is more or less content complete now though, I've felt a lot more motivated to play Splat 3 for irs own sake recently :)
Another thing to consider mostly about the second year is that splatoon 2 initially was only supposed to have 1 year of new content, which explains why splat 2 had less quantity in its second year
I think that for the video you should have mentioned stages reworks, I think many of the problems of the Splatoon 3 initial stages were fixed, especially with the huge changes in version 8.0. As for the grand splatfest it's true that we still haven't experienced it, but with the information we already have in quality and quantity will be vastly superior than final fest.
Even tho 3 has more “major” updates, it was only really considered major from seasonal standpoints, having to wait every three months is boring, suprises for updates feel more natural imo, also i feel like 3 fell more off in year 2, the only thing it really had as a wow factor was side order, but even then Side order isn’t exactly the best personally
Alas, I cannot go back in time to record a bunch of Final Fest footage 😭 Plus have so much nostalgia for it I do not trust myself not to be super biased lmao
@@KitTheGoddess To your second point fair enough. To your first point, you can go back to the festival with amiibo you just can't play battles (obviously).
@KitTheGoddess can't you set up some fake footage of the final fest with a private battle? That is, if you have any friends. If you don't you could gather a few of your fans to play with you. I wouldn't oppose to playing a fake finalfest
The biggest thing is that I really don’t feel like that would do it justice. There’s SO much more that goes into a Splatfest than JUST the battles, or JUST the lobby, and the original Final Fest was so long ago I was still in high school. I don’t really have a super clear memory of the Final Fest other than that I loved it, so I don’t feel like it would be fair for me to give a critique on it even with the chance to refresh myself. Replicating the event isn’t the same as THE event, yknow? It’s everything together, all I’d have the chance to do here is review a couple of the individual pieces that made up Final Fest.
The wall special still has me needing to look away and I end up just.. dropping my controller in frustration sometimes to take a moment. Even in the video, my eyes and head hurts still, a whole 6 minutes later. The frequency of the noise that happens is a problem too, although not as major. It really sucks for both myself AND whoever I play with when I have to prioritize avoiding that damn wall over objective. Its still so bad. I genuinely hope nintendo just replaces it with the bubbles from splatoon 2 at this point. Its probably not the most ideal solution, but at least it doesnt make players physically unable to play... the soap wall just isnt fixable.
I've definitely considered it in the past, but I've decided I probably won't. A video like that seems redundant to me when one game (Splatoon 3) would sweep basically every single quantity category just based on the nature of being a sequel. Splatoon 3 had more main weapons, stages, Salmon Run content, music... basically everything at launch, it had more of. And while quantity isn't ALL that's important here, I find that removing that would take away a lot from the format of these videos. I definitely plan on continuing this format with the Side Order VS Octo Expansion video, plus other non-Splatoon stuff.
The algorithm showed me this now I gotta boost it for more people to see🗣 Oh, and I think Splatoon 3 has the better update cycle BUT JUST BARELY. Year 1 of Splatoon 3 was HORRIBLE but year 2... GOD NINTENDO KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. Splatoon 2 was... eh year 1 but better and Splatoon 2 year 2 was solid especially cuz ultra stamp and booyah bomb. Loved this video. ALSO, SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS THE BEST BATTLE SONG PERIOD IS SEASOURCE OMG YOU'RE AMAZING!
IMO the splatfests in 3 were always a bit boring since there was nothing but a normal stage and 3 teams participating, and most of the time I ended up not playing tricolor due to the insane amount of mirror matches and defending roles i encountered in year 1. Year 2 got better with roles being random and the fizzbombs added, however I don’t think it could compare to 2’s shifty stations
@@Kurameno fr unfortunately. I forgot where I heard it from but someone put it really well when they said "Splatoon 3's ost sounds like an imitation of what Splatoon's music should sound like" or smth like that but I was like damn thats spot on.
Splat 2s music never hit with me. Especially off the hooks splatfest music, Overall going from splat 1 to splat 2 back then was such a letdown to me 😢 in my head it went from a cool pop punk fun, poppy bright experience to like bland guitar sounds and an amateur beat maker. Splatoon 3 has really exceeded my expectations. My fav overall

I just realized for splatoon 3 there hasn't been any collab splatfests outside of Japan. Which is kinda sad
@@FreshFalcon There were but they were all internal collaborations, _Pokémon_ and _The Legend of Zelda_ to be specific.
The theme for splatoon 3 is chaos so naturally, the kit spread is an orderly 2 across the board.
Three idols
Tri-stringer
Triple themed specials
Three starting bands
Three weapons for the new classes
Three types of shell-out jackpots
3:33 final boss in RotM
333 hazard level MAX difficulty
x333 splatfest battles
...
2 kits
@@coldfanta4963 2 year long lifespan

At least Splatoon 2's update cycle didn't take two years to give a special startup.
Which was less than Inkzooka in Splatoon 1.

Yep, my biggest gripe with 3 is that good kits and stages haven’t made a come back

Couldn't agree more! Splatoon 3 really stepped up its game in Year 2.
Splatoon 2 had third kits and I like that
Even though I know barely anything about Splatoon, this was an awesome video!! Can't wait for the next one! ;3
I wish splatoon 3 got all the unused maps from splat1 since we cant play it anymore

Pretty hard to these without bias haha, good job overall but I'd have to disagree with the music quality and stage quality
AGREED but that *is* purely opinion so i dont think it really should matter
But I think stage quality isn’t very subjective and more of a point based on actual factors you can compare, for example flanks, high points and etc.
