I got a nice 6 point with my Vietnam era 556 AR several years ago, then I built my 300 Blackout AR and harvested a 6 point from about 100 yards. I killed a bear a couple years ago with 450 Bushmaster. He didn't go 25 yards and it didn't waste any more meet than had I shot him with a 30-06 or 308.

What caliber semi would you suggest for big game? For some reason I do better with semis than bolts. Idk why and after all these years I’ve stopped questioning it. I chalk it up to me learning how to shoot an M16 as my first firearm
No idea who "they" are, but here in NY, we hunt with ARs regularly. Winchester .223 Deer Season XP rounds get the job done. Or chamber them for something larger. Your choice. But they absolutely work just fine.
5.56 or 223 is one of the best deer calibers. High shoulder shot or neck shot. Drops em dead on the spot. 193 is as good as a soft point, no mushroom but devastating none the less.

You can absolutely hunt with that. 450 bushmaster is a hell of a woods rig, I had very good luck with my ar. I've kinda gotten this wierd itch to hunt with different calibers in an ar platform. I've killed deer with 223, 7.62x39, 300 blackout, 308, 450 bushmaster, and 50 Beowulf. The only one I ever had to go find was one shot with 223, and she only went about 40 yards and fell over.
I promise with a good shot that deer ain't going 20ft let alone 20yrds, told from experience 😜. Beautiful caliber AR my guy! Also Hornady customs are a bit pricey but they are nail drivers out to 200yrds easy. Mine is sub moa at 200 yrd zero.
No hate on the BCA upper, I’ve got a few poverty ponies myself and they run just as good as my high end rifles; but I would 100% change that scope mount. From experience, Those Monstrum QD mounts cannot hold zero for shit. A budget mount I would sort of recommend is the Athlon Armor. However, I don’t think you should skimp out on the mount. I run Geissele mounts on everything personally
I built an ar 15 chambered in 350 legend for my daughters to deer hunt with last year. (straight wall state). Basically no recoil and very capable of dropping a deer within 200 yards
I normally hunt with a crossbow because it's legal all season and I just enjoy it alot more than rifle hunting. But if I do rifle hunt I go with a Remington .243 semi-auto with a 5 round mag.
Right i have a 45 texan carbon fiber dropped 3 deer with it farthest was 168 yards with a nick nielson 348 grain bthp dropped right in its tracks, but i wanna hunt with my 556 this year along with my airgun of course lol. Ill probably go with the 62 grain federal fusion msr or 70 grain tsx.

Two things matter in a rifle for deer hunting is it accurate & does it throw a big & powerful enough projectile.. well AR platforms are notoriously accurate & 450 bushmaster is on par with 45/70 govt .. so there’s no argument against it
I hunt with a 450 BM AR platform, I built it especially for the use of hunting, short track jobs, that’s if it doesn’t drop it immediately… I’m so glad I have one, you will be too

That will work, in Ohio it has to be a straight-walled cartridge. Also can only hold 3 rounds. Rifle deer hunting in Ohio is relatively new, just started in 2017.
You can ethically hunt white tail with 223 as long as your shot placement is good and you’re using the right ammo. 450 would be great for hunting in thick scrub.

The old dirt collector 3000 those are great for sitting at at range but in a real world use that thing would get packed full of sticks mud rocks sand snow and ice and turn into the jam master 5000.

A couple years ago I shot a doe from a tree stand with my Ruger American 450. She was like 15 feet away. 🤣 crumpled on the spot.
They work very well. I used one of their side charging uppers in 450 for deer and bear.

Took a deer with my 13” AR10 build last year . Suppressor didn’t come in time, so I’m pretty sure half the state heard me take that doe.

I have shot 2 deer with an AR15. Used cheap wolf 55 grain soft points. 1 shot each and they both dropped n less than 35 yards.
Shoot them in the high shoulder or high neck and they wont take a step. Shatters the spine.
