One of the most important songs from the 60s. We made a lot of progress toward unity and civil rights in the 60s. This was a fitting song for the end of the decade and in my opinion should be the anthem of everyday people today. It isn't everyday people who divide us, its politicians with agendas.
Too bad much of the world. Including the USA, didn't pay attention to this song. At least we tried in the 60's to stand up for all marginalized people, not just the the race in power...now we are trying to turn the clock back to dark times...
this band was rock and funk and blues and sooooo much fun! plus they almost always had a message of some kind. i miss them, and their outlook on life, the universe, and everything.....thanks!
Love this song. It could describe their own band. Look at that photo & the diversity in their band. This was from the days of hippies, peace & love, man. LOL
Still one of my favorite bands!! They were the first band to break both racial and gender barriers, being the first integrated band ever. "ThankUFalettinMeBeMiceElf" is another fantastic song by them, you'll be dancing in your seats!
Funkiest Band that ever was. Last time I heard Sly was living in a van on the streets of LA. One of his backup singers was Darlene Love from my home town of Wichita KS. Her siblings all were Great singers. Her Mama opened a restaurant in down town Wichita called Mama Loves! Great Soul Food! 🤔🥴😆👍✌️
Sly Stone was so far ahead of his time. Saw him at Woodstock and he blew 500,000 of us completely away with, I believe, 8 songs. It was 3 o’clock in the morning when they were on and we danced our asses off!!! “Wanna take you higher!”, he sang. Higher!”, we yelled back. Just glorious.
Yes...this is my kind of music I love...some Sly & The Family Stone!! Everyday People is that song that everyone needs to hear today since the song has been around for almost 60 years. But you get what Sly was talking about in the song around that time. But it's a shame that, even though Sly & The Family Stone were big in the late 60s and early 70s, the band didn't get a big recognition as Prince's bands throughout his career (The Revolution, New Power Generation, 3rdEyeGirl, etc). Great reaction my favorite buddies. And T got it right...it was based on the Arrested Development song called People Everyday. And last edited comment, this is the reason why I want to make music because not only I want to start an all black rock band but I also want to make an one man band album, a duo synth pop band and a multi-racial band too.
Absolutely Love Sly & The Family Stone. Such an Amazing Catalog of Great Songs to React To Thank You Family Affair Dance to the Music Sing a Simple Song Hot Fun in the Summertime Everybody is a Star You won’t be Disappointed
Love it. All this minutia and scooby do be do be, and then WE GOT TO LIVE TOGETHER!! Then more examples of minutia and then shout I AM EVERY DAY PEOPLE!! Freakin tell it, Sly. He was too cool.
If you like songs with messages, check out their song Stand. Great music, great lyrics, great message. Sly and the Family Stone was also one of the first groups who had women playing instruments (keyboards and trumpet).
Arrested Development reversed the title to "People Everyday" and put their own spin on the song. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts had a minor hit (#37) with a tasty, rockin' cover of the song in 1983.
Don't you wish song like thus would come back. I think we all need songs like this and "Get Together " by the Youngbloods and "Why can't we be friends " By War. Soften our hearts maybe.
Of all the first time reaction videos you two are the first who commented on the message. True that's missing nowadays, so many ones are about having money, wearing bling oh just crap.
I have one complaint about this song...... its too SHORT! lol.... I could have listened to it longer. I love this one and Dance to the music (great song)
One race - the human race. Sly was the coolest cat on the planet.

This song came out in 1968, and contains a phrase I still use today..."Different strokes for different folks"! Thanks for the memories!
The LEGENDARY Iconic Sly and his Family Stone ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was 18 in 1968 when this came out. brings back good memories.
One of the best bands. They can all sing and musical talent awesome. Incredible they have it all. Full of life and hope.
this band was rock and funk and blues and sooooo much fun! plus they almost always had a message of some kind. i miss them, and their outlook on life, the universe, and everything.....thanks!
Sly was decades before Arrested Development. Started in the 60's.
Still a revolutionary song 50+ years later.

It was one of their biggest hits. Their 300 million fans loved it. Most could sing all the lyrics.

Wow, they performed at Woodstock?
‘You Don’t Have to be a Star’ should be the next Sly song you react to
The 70's was without a doubt. The BEST decade for music!!!!!! Motown was where it was at!!!!!
Sixties I think
@@Hartlor_Tayley Yeah, late 60's. I stand corrected! I thought of that after I sent the comment!
@@greg2976 thanks but I wasn’t sure either.
@@Hartlor_Tayley I was born in 1959. So the mid to late 60's I can remember songs. But the 70's was the "Motown" era for sure! great music!
@@greg2976 so many great songs back then. Everything had its own flavor.
Great rabbit hole to go down them and the band War we're great 70s bands full of soul and funk.
Great reaction. Yes unity. E pluribus unum . Out of many One . This song should be the National Anthem .
Now you are hitting my genre!!
Man, I loved the message you were presenting, Tasha! Great reaction!

Do it, I’ll definitely listen
Sly and the Family Stone is the only band that played at both Woodstock and Harlem’s Summer of Soul in 1969. They were awesome!
A total "hippie" (counterculture) anthem! Thanx for the memories TNT

That a strutting down the street singing our hearts out being just EVERYDAY PEOPLE. United.
I don't know if you can understand how amazing it is to me to think of black people as everyday people
A classic jam! Y'all pointed out the great timeless message. Now try the wonderful Bill Withers, Lean On Me, Use Me, Ain't No Sunshine.
Sly himself was from my old town, Denton, Texas.
Sly himself is from my hometown, Denton, Texas
I really like Tasha's words ~@4:15. We are all everyday people; we are all trying to survive.

Great song!! We need that message today unfortunately!
♥ this song!

I love both versions of this, great groups the both of them
One of the best to ever come out of our Bay Area
During turbulent times in 60's America, this was a perfect song on racial harmony. Music and sports are great unifers. Love your show❤
Sky and the Family Stone was the quintessential band of the 60s/ early 70s Black White Male Female like the song says we all the same whatever we do
Stay in the 60s do all the 60s and you won’t regret it❤ I love ❤❤
Song pertain in today's world !❤
There used to be a lot more "Scooby-Dooby-Doobies" back in the day. 😂
Everybody's heard this song. It's americana now. Like Bill Withers 'Lean On Me' - you can't grow up in this country without knowing it.
DEFINITELY where the cartoon character Scooby Doo got his name from.
Pure uncut Funk 🤘🏾
sly is the original

You should see the video. It really gives credence to the words.
Sly stone James brown parliament funkadelic the 3 pillars of funk!
Listening to all the music that you have, do you ever ask the question, what happened?. Why isn't life today just as good today,if not better.
Sly donated money to the Black Panthers who told him to get rid of his white members of the Band. He didn't. Guess they didn't listen to his music.
I have one complaint about this song...... its too SHORT! lol.... I could have listened to it longer. I love this one and Dance to the music (great song)
MSG.. WHEN I'M GONE.(OMV)
