I love listening to Jim Nabors who played Gomer Pyle singing hymns and gospel songs as well as Andy Griffith who was also a singer. Another man Michael Crawford played Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em has a fantastic voice. Man can these three men sin. Wow!

Jim Nabors walked away from his landmark TV series "Gomer Pyle USMC in 1969 even though his series was ranked number #2 in the Nielson ratings. That's saying something when we only had 3 networks to choose back then. He went on to showcase his singing talent in The Jim Nabors Hour 1969-1971. I always find it interesting that Carol Burnett considered him her good luck charm and he appeared as a guest star on her variety series with every season opener for 12 years straight. Jim Nabors lived his life with dignity and made his indelible mark on the Entertainment Industry. Thanks for the memories.

As stated above, the song was from the movie production of "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", and sang by the ladies of the house when they had to leave giving their plans for their future. Whenever I hear the song and people say how much they love the song with no idea where it is from.

You know why real bluegrass bands don't take requests? Because the only song anyone who isn't a bluegrass fan knows is "Rocky Top." Bluegrass music is rich in tradition and incredible musicianship. "Rocky Top" is a very poor representation of the genre.

One of my favorite things about The Dan is that all of their songs are steeped in meaning. The Royal Scam is about the plight of Puerto Rican Immigrants, Kid Charlemagne is about a famous LSD maker, Glamour Profession is about a high class coke dealer, etc. Believe it or not the inspiration for Josie was actually Walter Becker's dog.

Futuristic, yes, but also a look to the past. The final beeps as the song fades away are highly reminiscent of the electronic pulse sound that Sputnik (the first man-made earth orbiting satellite) made as it circled the globe in 1957 after being launched by the Soviet Union's space program. As far as the Steve Miller Band is concerned, I'm of the opinion that this, the Fly Like an Eagle album, was their best album over all. You can't go wrong by simply reacting to the entire tracklist, a song at a time.

Real name is Jim Nabors and was Gomer Pyle on the Andy Griffith show and then was on the Gomer Pyle TV show. I think he has some albums out there still. Yeah, surprised many when he opened his mouth, ha ha.

His name is Jim Neighbors. He was on the Andy Griffeth show before Gomer Pyle. He released multiple albums with that beautiful voice. Unfortunately, he was blacklisted after it came out he was gay. He lived in Hawaii with his partner until his death.
