The best anthem of harmony ever written. And it's funky, too. This is the shit I try to live by. And the group themselves was racially and genderly mixed, too, which was trare in those days.
I grew up with this music in the late 60's early 70's so this song brings back soooo many memories of my childhood. I'm glad you shared this with so many "everyday people". There's so much needless hate going on today but if we look back at the human spirit in all its artistic and cultural forms, it truly is beautiful and reveals how much more we have in common to share rather than our differences. Like Sly once said, "don't hate the black...don't hate the white, if you've been bitten just hate the bite".
TRUE STORY!! Why is this NOW an issue, you may ask? This is exactly why no American can trust the government right now - it's ALL BY DESIGN. I am a 55 yr old chick. (white, if anyone cares) Grew up extremely poor my whole childhood. Now, I am accused, as well as my children & 5 grandchildren, of being the "R" word. ?? It is WRONG. It is contradicting, irresponsible & detrimental to us as Americans. I am SO HAPPY to find this awesome channel because they UNDERSTAND & know the REAL truth... much love & hugs to all who understand it & love the great music they keep alive for us to enjoy & to remember the great days!! From Mesa, AZ 🌵❤️
Sly was one of the inspirations for Prince and a lot of other Bands in 60's - 80's when we had REAL BANDS . Janet's Rhythm Nation music was inspired by his song Thank you ( Fa letting me be mice elf again) . Yes that is the spelling of the song 😄😄❤️ Sly was the lead singer in his band , Boots actually admired Sly as well. You can find Sly's story on youtube.
One of the best songs ever written, absolutely love you guys and your reactions. Thank you for spreading the love, we are all the same, no need for all the conflict and drama in the world today.
Sly changed music and his influence can be heard in Prince, Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Ohio Players, Parliament Funkadelic, and many others. Sly is a genius.
Didn't realize this is from November, last fall. No matter, please do 'Stand', 'Hot Fun in the Summertime', 'Everybody Is A Star' and 'Thank You'. Thank YOU.
Sly and The Family Stone was the first interracially mixed band comprised of both males and females to make it big. This was the 5th biggest song of 1969 on Billboard's Charts. One of the backing members was singer and bass guitarist Larry Graham. After the group broke up he went on to a solo career with his biggest hit being 1980s "One in A Million" - a #9 smash I hope you get a chance to review A beautiful tune and a great love song I think you two can relate to. Larry is also the uncle of noted rapper Drake.
I’m 8 months late to this party but wanted to let you know how much I liked your Sly & The Family Stone/Everyday People reaction. Sly walked the walk in terms of genuinely caring about peace between people from different walks of life and, let’s face it: races. He actively worked on making things better and we were better for it. Somewhere along the way we lost part of what we had gained. It now seems to be important to a growing number of people again. I am thankful for that and actively try to be part of it.
‘we are the same, whatever we do …’ Love this Sly song, it was soo popular back in the 70’s! Music like this makes you feel good & want to dance 🎶🤩☮️💓🎵
Back when this song was popular, we were all just one and we loved each other.. no matter what color our skin was. I miss those days. Kids nowdays have no idea about how it was a long time ago. We are allowing 'them' to divide us. We are the same family.
I completely love you guys. I watch your video's everyday even ones that I have seen already. How do I become one of the S&M squad? Or am I already? Sly and the family stone have amazing music and they took the world by storm in the 70's and 80's . Stand and family affair are another 2 moving tracks by them I'm not lying.
So happy to hear y'all review Sly - he brought us together back in the day - they were wonderful! This is a timeless song, as relevant today as yesterday :)
Yes. We all need to listen to this. The whole world. We are all brothers and sisters and if we are going to survive as a species we need to stop fighting and work together. Peace!
❤️ They are the band I call " The first band I ever heard." I was 3 and I had much older sibs in the house. I thought the blonde one was the Mother to all of them lol. They remain a fave, nearly 60 years later ❤️
Love Sly and the Family Stone since the sixties one of my favorite all-time bands also anything off their greatest hits album you'll love them they're great
Hello sweet couple....I just saw this and thought it would bless you. So enjoy watching you. I lost my husband a year ago.... I miss him when I see the energy you share keep going
Is it stupid that I'm crying when I'm listening to this? I was fifteen when this song came out and I was totally crazy about Sly, everybody was! I was a little hippie and like most hippies, our intentions were good and we wanted fairness and justice for all and most of us are still hippies inside. This song is more relevant than ever in these divisive terrible times. And Sly and his band should be right up there with all the other greatest.
Howdy hi hi, From the very first time I heard this, until and including this listening, I have loved this song. It came out before I was born in '71 so this has been a companion throughout my entire life. And I could not be happier that this work exists in this world. On the day I was born the number one song in the U.S. was Joy to the world by three dog night. Another one that you two might find really fun to give a listen. I hope you day treats you well.
I've just started this so I haven't even tried but perhaps it's possible now with TH-cam the pool up The Sly and the Family Stone reunions with Prince it will blow you away
The true message for all us everyday people!!! We gotta quit fighting ourselves you folks!!! We are all here as humanity ..... We need to unite people a.k.a. humanity.... or they that separate us will win......oh no
Hey Shawn and Mel. There are a lot of great Sly and the family stone songs to react to. My favorite line in this song is: "We got to live together". Still true today. Peace.
Lead singer is Sly Stone (he influenced Bootsie Collins, Sly is the Godfather of funk). Girl singer is younger sister Rose (Cynthia Robinson is underlaid in the female parts as well). Younger brother Freddie on bass, and then the 2 white guys on drums and horn duties). Youngest sister Vet came in after this.
Love this song. We grew up on great music, including Sly & the Family Stone. Try Ike & Tina Turner’s “River Deep Mountain High”. It is wonderful! Love you guys. 🇨🇦❤️
Bear in mind that Sly put together a racially and gender diverse group in the 60's. 3 black guys, 2 white guys and 2 black women. That makes the message even more real
I am watching this reaction two years after you recorded it. I see you guys got a lot out of it. Please check out Sly’s “Family Affair”. You will love it!
We're ALL the same... I'm a caucasian DEMOCRAT that is from NOLA and we ARE multicultural and we don't accept any people that don't accept ANYTHING different 🥰🥰🥰✌️✌️✌️
We need to ask my Harris to use this song with her campaign thank you for playing that but see if she will use the song in her campaign everyday people that's what we are😊😊😊😊❤❤❤

Yep love is love😁👍
Sly is a musical genius on a couple levels.

Agreed. So underrated.
I think they were the first group that was intergender and interracial.
Absolutely. The Godfather!!
Exactly!!!!!
I was obsessed with them back in the day when I was about 16 - got to see them at the Wiltern in LA - OMG!!! I am 68 now and still love them.
Didn't realize this is from November, last fall. No matter, please do 'Stand', 'Hot Fun in the Summertime', 'Everybody Is A Star' and 'Thank You'. Thank YOU.
Sly and the band talked the talk and walked the walk. They are lesson for all of us. And it makes your ears and feet happy!

What a great song. And I'm glad you guys reacted to it.
There was so.much social consciousness in the 60's
We need it back today, instead it's gone the opposite direction🌍✌️☮️🕊️🙏🏼
I love your vibe. You are such positive people!
Everyday people.

One of my favorites by this group. We use to dance all night to this song. ❤❤❤
Sly’s music was a joy! Grew up on a steady diet of great music, and this is dessert.✌️🇨🇦

Sly and the Family Stone was probably the first truly integrated bands. Black, white, male, female.
Please react to their song STAND. It's another 'lift you up' song. 👍😉
This song is a life lesson. No more and no less. 💕
So happy to hear y'all review Sly - he brought us together back in the day - they were wonderful! This is a timeless song, as relevant today as yesterday :)
Love Love Love this song.
Best lyrics..messages to my soul!!.
No one is unequal to a great life and love.
Always liked this song from way back. Another one that was good was Hot Fun in the Summertime.
The most diverse group ever!! They broke the mold...Funk, Disco, Rap...originated from Sly!!
Congrats, you found the misunderstood underappreciated master of much of what we hear today. 😂
That entire album is killer - about 50 years ago, I was 13! One of all time favorites.
Sly and the family stone are timeless, and way ahead of their time.
I wish they'd do one of these for the song Family Affair
Yes, yes, yes…one of my favorites as a teenager in the 70s❣️
Yes. We all need to listen to this. The whole world. We are all brothers and sisters and if we are going to survive as a species we need to stop fighting and work together. Peace!

Hey friends! Thanks for playing this legendary hit. God bless you and may your path always rise up to greet you!
My favorite song from them. Had to subscribe to yall. Love tha vibe. Now a days seems people forgot about this.
If everyone in the world would really hear this song & apply its message, everyone in the world would be much happier.
Fun fact: Sly and the Family Stone was the only band that performed at both Woodstock and Summer of Soul.
My favourite group when I was a teenager. I grew up with their music. Even when my mom saw the group in the Woodstock movie she said, "Sly flies"
sly says dont hate the black dont hate the white if you get bit just hate the bite!
I wish the world could live by this
Sly Stone. Think Prince of that generation. Musical genius.
Everyday People is a very powerful song and one of all time favourites. This song will never lose its relevance, and power.
Iam a true fan of this man and his band. Excellent song choice.
I've always gotta mention that Sly was a top-rated dj on a CA radio station for years. His airchecks are here on YT...
We had the best music and artists that created it back in the 60s and 70s,all you young people need to recognize. 😊
Bootsy was Sly contemporary in the 70's. Great reaction to one of my favorite groups as a mid teen. 🇨🇦🥰
That song came out in the early 70's. It has the same affect on me now that it did then. When I was a kid.
Check out their legendary Woodstock performance- done in the dark!
My daddy would call us kids (young teenagers)to come and watch sly and the family stone. We watched them,Elvis and Evil kenevel .
Amazing reaction this classic song has a strong message in it every day people we are all equal.

I danced to this many times in the Clubs, back in the day.

I love ya style...................spread the love. Peace.
....Sly had some pipes on him. That guy could sing.
I love Slys philosophy of life.
Sly was all about love. Check them out on the Ed Sullivan show. " Don't hate the black, don't hate the white, if you get bit, hate the bite."❤
"You're my People ! "- Quote from the Woodstock Generation..

this song is an anthem, as relevant in 1969 as it is in 2023.
Bear in mind that Sly put together a racially and gender diverse group in the 60's. 3 black guys, 2 white guys and 2 black women. That makes the message even more real
