In this video I watch Mariah and Michael sing. They do it quite well. I talk about what they are doing that I think is successful. I hope this observation on how they sing helps you figure out how the voice works better, so you can learn how to make smart choices in your own voice.

Mariah was on fire in this performance. She will always remain one of the best, her vocal creativy and musicality is just out of this world.

I love how he’s not afraid to fairly critique the literal vocal Bible that is Mariah Carey

In 2012-2013, she was incredibly agile and fluid. And let's not forget that jaw-dropping surprise performance on the Jimmy Fallon show - she totally went crazy, leaving everyone in awe!

Love this analysis - I think what we've learned with Mariah over the years is that nerves really get to her, so when she's uncomfortable on the stage/occasion, or nervous, or maybe not as well rehearsed as she'd like, that's when her performance slips a little bit, but when she's prepped and ready and comfortable, she can still sing miles above most other performers alive. I think Michael understands how, even though he's recorded a version of it,

She sideyed the band several times lol they started too early and same for the end she must've been pissed, her ending was so cleverly improvised.

  • @andrewgarfield9898

2013 was such good year for her vocally

Underneath The Tree by Kelly Clarkson is definitely getting there in terms of being a modern classic. For me anyway ❤

Going slightly off beat is a deliberate musical style used frequently by soul singers. Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin do it all the time. It feels like ad libbing a song.

Mariah has sang so many different Christmas songs live people have no idea

  • @andretavares327

She has given a lot of her voice over the years since she first appeared in the music world. Like, it's crazy to think how she explored all the possibilities of her voice, in so many different ways, even with the problems of nodules, aging... she was reinventing herself. A true vocalist. All applause for the QUEEN

I think in terms of speed and vocal agility when it comes to head voice, Mariah it’s literally a robot beast! She sounds almost auto tuned because that kinda robotic fast sound, it’s almost weird how FAST she is. I love it ❤

    Love Mariah’s musicality

  • @habibakamel

I appreciate Michael Bublé’s stylistic staccato to contrast Mariah Carey‘s agility/voice acrobatics -they complemented each other very well. Two talented professionals, knowing their strengths and complementing each other. No egos here!

  • @Fan-vv8wb

The greatest vocalist of all time Mariah Carey

  • @GabrielPassarelliG

In the bridge, I think she flipped to falsetto in the "please" was just a form of expression. Like "please!, bring my baby to me". A beautiful way of bringing that begging and girly quality.

  • @snareyshot2879

I like that Mariah did the backgrounds for the first half of the bridge because we never get to see that live but in the duet she got to do stuff she would otherwise not do live!

  • @chaddencelmendoza7824

Mariah's musicality is indeed to die for. Love your honest reaction as well❤

  • @sweetenercarey

She was in a fantastic vocal shape in 2013! The agility was insane. I actually believe if she went slower on the constant singing during the past decade she could’ve stayed in this shape til today

Even though I cant sing and I dont understand much of the things you´re talking about, I just love that you still explain vocal theory and practises, different to many vocal teacher channels on youtube, who changed to only reaction content

  • @FuckinGaming

Their voices are so contrasting, it makes this a really interesting collaboration. Her voice is so big and dynamic, and Michael's is so soft and almost robotically consistent sounding. I can't quite describe it lol
