You know whats worse? Sukuna didnt eat the popcorn or drinked the soda to show off, he did it so Yuji had something to throw up when the fight was over
Glad everyones reacting to this bc its fully deserves it, I think myself original was good as is but this made entire fight so much easier to follow and had lot of great in between scenes to flow from 1 scene into another so much smoother, The Malevolent Shrine we actually get to see a shockwave of diced n sliced buildings n scenery rather than just a big implosion… Crazy to see just what Animators are capable of with even just a little more time, Maybe this will get Execs to chill n let animators give it their best without pushing them to limit just to meet deadlines…
This still isn't the full vision of what this episode was supposed to be. Understand that under ideal conditions this episode would have had at least 8 months of production. At best this episode had around five. Fuck mappa.
Chainsaw Man Season 1 was created with the alloted time Mappa gave the animators to make JJK S2. They did so because they got a bigger cut of profits from CSM than JJK. So fuck the higher ups at Mappa, made animators lives hell for so long and to the detriment of an entire season of a show.
No this is the full vision. Just that the episode still has minor errors or background problems. 2 more months and this would have been the greatest episode to ever exist ( we ll it already is to me)
I'll be for real with you, as soon as a piece of art has a deadline, it will never look as good as it could have. That's just the nature of it, the first version was very clearly unfinished and salvaged, but this version is closer to that. You have to make a compromise Fuck MAPPA obviously though underpaying overworking ass
The coolest thing is, that in that scene where mahoraga was swinging straight blanks at sukuna he was actually deflecting his slashes, since they’re invisible and sukuna says right before that moment that he could “see” his cursed technique
i've been watching anime since the early 90's. this was hands down one of the best seasons of a show i've ever seen. whatever the team at mappa is going through, i hope they know they pulled off something amazing
They weren’t lying when they said they were only like 30% done with this fight 😭 Edit: Ok, yall, when I say 30% done I meant the amount that they actually had in the real fight. They literally cut most of the fight out
Every dumb english speakers got baited hard by the ''30% thing'' it NEVER meant that it was 30% ''done'' , that 1 animator dude said he only had time to put 30% OF HIS VISION, the episode that we got was always what it was and never ''30% done and unfinished''
Ikr? 30% for the fight in the tv version is crazy enough but 100% at peak?, my god, JJK is an art form when it comes to choreography, cinematography and action sequences as if you're watching a movie.
They actually said only 30% of their vision was done in this fight. Meaning the fight is complete but they only managed to get 30% of what they had initially envisioned
as a manga reader, watching this episode and knowing where we’re currently at with the manga makes me so anxious bc idk how they’re gonna up the animation after THAT
The story boarding got released for this fight, and it’s actually INCREDIBLE. Mahoraga is like a machine, he’s trying to learn and adapt to sukuna. Eventually, mahoraga adapted to the cleaving by using his dismembered body parts as projectiles. Sukuna realizes this, so he starts throwing in pump fakes. That one scene where mahoraga was shadow boxing sukuna was because he was trying to use the strategy of limb projectiles, but because the chops weren’t coming, nothing happened. At the end of the fight, mahoraga evolves further by learning how to lie. He fakes a punch before hitting sukuna, and it’s one of the first attacks to actually land. Sukuna was ECSTATIC about it, because in his eyes, he taught this holy figure how to lie or “sin”. That one scene with the fixed perspective on his halo wheel thingy was to signify he was trying to plan around the pump fakes Edit: I forgot to mention, the pump fake stuff was either inspired or equated to when you are playing smash, and you use a smash attack in the opposite direction of your opponent to catch a panic roll. This was stated in the margin of the actual storyboard. I’d highly recommend looking at it if y’all ever get a chance
When he said it was 30 percent done it was taken out of context. He said that this was 30 percent of his vision meaning he wanted even crazier stuff than this.
Roshi and Lupa out here for the real purpose of this video: appreciating the animation; Meanwhile Sheera’s stuck in her plot analysis mode and trying to say everything she probably couldn’t say in the actual episode lol.
Fun fact when mahoraga seemed like he was boxing the air he was actually deflecting each dismantle that was sent to him You can hear it at 6:03 he didn’t adapted well enough then was able to deflect all of them on 6:20

I don't wanna know" LMAOOOOO Gonna go off topic a little and recommend you guys to watch Kengan Ashura, it's a martial arts anime that is 3d, and since y'all watched Baki I think this is a very good option. Sukuna was throwing feints to confuse mahoraga who kept spamming the parry button. Then mahoraga adapted to feinting and stopped spamming the parry button, which sukuna then changed his plans, etc. Literally watched 2 pro EVO players go at it LOL
@@fire_dragonhd9105 what’s even cooler is that in the story board they said he did it to teach him how to throw faints
The part where the animation looks so clean like the water scene and I think the constant slash in Sukuna's domain expansion is animated by Vincent Chansard (the one who does the peak fight scenes in One Piece). But sadly, Vincent don't wanna work with Mappa anymore.
Vincent is the goat! I felt so bad when I saw some of his rough animation of the Sukuna vs Maho fight that didn't get put into the episode but thankfully the Blu-ray added them in.
@@keithdavy7346 that is why he don't want to work there anymore the working environment is not good according to him. He said that he was given work there but only on short notice unlike in Toei when he needs to be a part of the episode he was given a lot of time to prepare and has more freedom to interpret the scenes he's been given to animate with.
@@Fpsh-z4x one thing I like about Toei is that they give the animators and animation directors alot of freedom in interpreting the scenes and you could clearly see which animators worked on what scenes just from their own personal style.
@@Fpsh-z4x he also did say that he did like how much creative freedom he was given to animate in jjk. so i do think its a "never say never" deal with vincent, if mappa offered him a better schedule next time i think he would work on it again.
@@bread6235 he actually said he never want to work with Mappa anymore. I never said that he was not given creative freedom in Mappa but if u closely watch how he animates things in OP. U can easily tell in OP that he made the scenes than this one because animation wise nothing is holding him back from adding something that wasn't even in the source material sometimes. Tbh, I did not even know he was in here when I first watched this fight.
9:39 in Megumi's defense, Mahoraga would have just stomped Haruta and despawned, this is all because Sukuna pulled up
then megumi woulda fucking died

Brah what 🤨
Im glad yall checked this out. One of the best things I’ve seen so far this year
2 things to point out:
Sukuna's cursed technique is invisible to us so when we see Mahoraga punching the air he's actually punching all the invisible slashes
Also Sukuna was not constantly slashing at Mahoraga, when Mahoraga isn't cut when Sukuna made the slashing gesture is because Sukuna is faking him out, which is hilarious
Sukuna was faking it, when Mahoraga adapted again we can see that he was able to notice when its a fake or a real, then Mahoraga was able to punch him
9:33 facts! Megumi was gonna summon Mahoraga in season 1 when sukuna took over Yuji, then when he fought the cursed womb in episode 23, then when he fought toji lol
You also forgot todo and hanami
@@Reed..FACTS! Todo was about to catch the meanest work
@@Reed..He wasn't gonna summon Maho on Todo guy's
Roshi: "how do you storyboard this?"
Only hakuyu go knows about that one. Don't think anyone knows what kind of drugs this man is on evrytime he storyboards shit like this.
He wasn't the only one 🗿
@M-T_S he said it during go's part so I only mentioned him. I know miso, harumi and weilin were also involved with the storyboards.
Yeah this shi was hella different and better than the manga. Extended it with Godlike action holy crap
the blu ray version makes so much more sense, I remember watching the episode and being so overwhelmed/confused because scenes starting coming out of nowhere, but this extended version connects everything and blows my mind even further. I can see why the person mentioned the released episode only being 30% of what they had intended, they really had to cut down a lot... props to the insane talent
Just to clarify when mahoraga was punching air it was not cus of nothing. He was boxing sukuna's dismantles
You know whats worse? Sukuna didnt eat the popcorn or drinked the soda to show off, he did it so Yuji had something to throw up when the fight was over
Glad everyones reacting to this bc its fully deserves it, I think myself original was good as is but this made entire fight so much easier to follow and had lot of great in between scenes to flow from 1 scene into another so much smoother, The Malevolent Shrine we actually get to see a shockwave of diced n sliced buildings n scenery rather than just a big implosion…
Crazy to see just what Animators are capable of with even just a little more time, Maybe this will get Execs to chill n let animators give it their best without pushing them to limit just to meet deadlines…
Didn't think you'd do a reaction! It's awesome
At least the cut is 1000x times better than the 30% unfinished work we all saw.
You have to make a compromise
Fuck MAPPA obviously though underpaying overworking ass
@@SimplyRohith-sv5hd There are still parts that are visibly unfinished and would've looked more polished and consistent had they been given more time.
The coolest thing is, that in that scene where mahoraga was swinging straight blanks at sukuna he was actually deflecting his slashes, since they’re invisible and sukuna says right before that moment that he could “see” his cursed technique
So dope y’all got on this so quick
i've been watching anime since the early 90's. this was hands down one of the best seasons of a show i've ever seen. whatever the team at mappa is going through, i hope they know they pulled off something amazing
They weren’t lying when they said they were only like 30% done with this fight 😭
Edit: Ok, yall, when I say 30% done I meant the amount that they actually had in the real fight.
@@ripunjay40 exactly everyone is misunderstanding what it meant and spreading misinfo
That's not the context of 30%. Make your sources right. Misinformation at its finest. LMAO.
as a manga reader, watching this episode and knowing where we’re currently at with the manga makes me so anxious bc idk how they’re gonna up the animation after THAT
This cut just reminds me when we got the Snyder Cut for Justice League, truly magical
6:54 I lowkey want to make this a soundboard. Plus, Roshi rubbinng his chin killed me 😂
when Mahoraga was punching the air he was actually punching Sukuna attack
Yeah, nah this was crazy. Everything looked so crisp!
This is totally unexpected, but here we are 🔥
The story boarding got released for this fight, and it’s actually INCREDIBLE. That one scene with the fixed perspective on his halo wheel thingy was to signify he was trying to plan around the pump fakes
Edit: I forgot to mention, the pump fake stuff was either inspired or equated to when you are playing smash, and you use a smash attack in the opposite direction of your opponent to catch a panic roll. This was stated in the margin of the actual storyboard. I’d highly recommend looking at it if y’all ever get a chance
When he said it was 30 percent done it was taken out of context. He said that this was 30 percent of his vision meaning he wanted even crazier stuff than this.
You've been cut by, you've been diced by, a smooth criminal
I love you guys for this 😭😭
I’m soooo frickn happy y’all reacted to this
The blu ray version was absolutely insane!!!! I have no words
Roshi and Lupa out here for the real purpose of this video: appreciating the animation; Meanwhile Sheera’s stuck in her plot analysis mode and trying to say everything she probably couldn’t say in the actual episode lol.
"You can see it viewers
You can see my animation "
Mappa
It’s not that it was only 30% finished, it was 30% of their entire vision
Mahoraga on demon time he was boxing with cleaves and dismantles😭
Fun fact when mahoraga seemed like he was boxing the air he was actually deflecting each dismantle that was sent to him
You can hear it at 6:03 he didn’t adapted well enough then was able to deflect all of them on 6:20
"I don't know how y'all got the hands on this episode. I don't wanna know" LMAOOOOO
Gonna go off topic a little and recommend you guys to watch Kengan Ashura, it's a martial arts anime that is 3d, and since y'all watched Baki I think this is a very good option. The martial arts and choreography is S tier and it has HANDS for days!
“Just from breathe is crazy” this can’t go unnoticed 😭
facts
Get hyped. Season 3 is has the best fights by far. Culling Game Arc has potential to be the greatest arc of all time.
Spoilers:
I’m hyped most for the Yuta and Ryu fight. That shit went hardddd 🔥
@@Xemnas283 Those fights are later in the season and i really hope that season 3 is of 2 cours so that animators get time to animate that properly including kashimo vs hakari and Yuta vs sendai colony AND if they cover till there which i think they will then Yuki vs kenjaku.
BUT what i am most hyped to see is Yuta vs Yuji first because it will be during initial episodes and they will go all out and then the zenin massacre cus i feel like Maki is a character where animators can make her do ALOT!! just like that whole toji vs megumi scene. As she is all physical so they can make her look crazy strong against Naoya and the other Zenins
Thats what i am most hyped about !
4:28 If you wanted to describe the channel YaBoyRoshi then this perfectly describes it, Shira and Lupa being concerned and Roshi just saying “F everyone”💀
That fade-in slash by Sukuna is too cold, bro was playin with Maho 🥶
Actually he was not playing with Mahoraga.Sukuna knows that Mahoraga is a serious thing(who actually helped him in defeating gojo).Sukuna literally remained careful in this fight. He knew he would win but that doesn't mean he will give Mahoraga a chance to hit him.But at the end he realise that only domain expansion can stop Mahoraga.Even Mahoraga was about to adapt Sukuna's domain so Sukuna used fire arrow to completely burn him down.
@@holdupsomethingaintright7919 i like sukuna but man he wasnt playing with maho, especially in the ends when maho literally adapted to everything sukuna had to offer. Also maho is the one that invented (SPOILERS) world cutting slash
Man this was amazing! And that song at the end of the fight is still so incredible.
Mahoraga is such a trump card. If you don't immediately obliterate it with a strong attack, by the time you figure out it's adapting to your moves, it's probably too late. Luckily, Sukuna had a little something in his back pocket
Sukuna was pump faking tf out of Mahoraga at some points to test if Mahoraga would react if he did the movements without actually using dismantle and cleave, mans ain't only strong af he smart af too
I need to see the damn story board for that whole scene goddamn
Real shit? I'm back.
God I miss those days. Every week just more and more hyped.
The craziest part was...the fight in the manga was incredibly short. We dont deserve these animators man.

Mahoraga countering slices with curses really makes sense with the blu-ray version.
5:47 don't mind me just marking for myself
5:56 that “hold up” was literally what sakuna said
In the episode version, the fuga scene was just PowerPoint slides. The blu ray made fuga look so goddamn beautiful.
It’s crazy that some people are saying that the original fuga scene looked better than the new one smh 🤦♂️

The full power sukuna VS gojo fight will be crazy!!
bruh, especially chapter 236
Its crazy they made a fight that has just 20-30 panels of action into a 10 minute fight. So many scenes that never appeared in the manga.

Bro said Makora, as he should because it's OBJECTIVELY correct, but still put Mahoraga in the title 😭
The voice actors of Megumi and the narrator litearlly say "Makora" so I don't understand how the internet still insists the old mistranslation is the correct one lmao.
the RAGA part of his name just sounds too raw to let go
@@cycy8699
Won't blame you for subjectively liking it more, but I actually think Makora sounds better, because the "kora" is a much harsher and harder sound, where "raga" is comparatively soft, as "g" is just softer than "k" as a letter obviously.
But again, just preference here.
At least I would wish that people accept that Makora is correct. Bro there are people online coping and saying the voice actors messed up, cause they are still convinced Mahoraga is correct xD
They really said it, what we saw was not even close to perfection, not one bit, but this, THIS IS GODLY!!!
Mappa better be treating these animators better cuz they're cooking. But i guess its too late. Vincent already dipped out and said he'll never come back. Only one piece appreciates that man's work. Props to the mob psycho team as well cuz their rough paint/pencil like art really goes hard and fits a menace like sukuna
Ps: someone send me the link to the full bluray version bruh😭
I would too, anyone would
I mean Vincent had no intentions of working with them even before jjk s2, he only did some cuts on this episode bc of Hakuyu Go
Most of the so-called mob psycho team was freelancers themselves.
@@M-T_S and again does that affect my point tho? Nope
They cooked the hell with this blu-ray version, probably the new Unlimited Blade Works of this era
Sukuna really out here pump faking Mahoraga
this is what happens when you let artists cook, you cant rush perfection but oh lawd did the team at mappa try. and try they did. absolutely amazing work, its damn shame they didnt give them another couple of days to release this version originally.
I was not expecting this.
I didn't know this was a thing and now I NEED it
Even this wasn’t the “full vision” they had for the fight, but it’s the closest we’ll get to it with the time they had to finish animating some of the scenes they had to remove before the Blu-ray dropped.
I guess, but you still had to admit that it still look better that what we got the first time, by far.
Really??, what else could they have planned.
Anything else is melting ya whole brain😂😂
@@sbcs2809Detail work on certain scenes? Like how Mahoraga is drawn really basically during the Domain Expansion
@@matthewmarkham5096 It's a style choice. Lack of detail doesn't = worse or unfinished. Theres a reason barely any drawings were touched up here. The biggest reason it was "unfinished" was because there were entire scenes cut to save time. The actual polish of the episode is pretty much in accordance with the style they are going for.
When I saw the blu ray scenes one of my first thoughts was “Damn, I’m never gonna even see yaboiroshi react to this” and here we are
