It’s really cool how an injury probably contributed to Cliff’s unique playing style: a bit like how Tony Iommi losing his fingertips inadvertently lead to the birth of metal guitar playing.
I'm so glad to see you back! Been too long. Edit: also I wanted to say thank you for uploading videos. You have helped me find so much metal and get into new music, I am forever in your debt.
Bro I just saw one of your old vids in my recommended for the first time in a little bit, and my heart sank as I rushed to your channel to check if you’re doing okay, and saw you uploaded an hour ago, and I just legitimately cried a happy tear! It’s Thanksgiving over here in the States bro, and I know that’s not your thing over there, and even though I’m sitting here by myself, I just got yet another thing to be thankful for bro, so thank you! So glad you’re alive and getting back to your life, and I’m looking forward to seeing more uploads my friend!🇺🇸🇺🇦
Bells was the first ever Metallica song i heard live,in Paris back in May this year. Now i like it a bit more, for that reason! The anticipation,Ecstacy of gold, and then hearing the bells...I still get the chills.
Jeez dude, I had no clue I've been watching your videos for 10 years until you mentioned the 10th anniversary of your channel. So glad you're well and still doing your thing. Big fan.
I am so glad to see that series come back. I have been waiting for it for 3 years. It is one of the best series on the entire site. Thanks for bringing it back. Love you brother!!! \m/
I always learned it as Rob's way with the pull-off and that's how I still play it, my band and I covered this song at one of our shows in April and I've also developed my own "habit" of adding some of Cliff's fills from the 1985 Day On the Green show since that just adds another level of badassery to the song (also playing it on my Rickenbacker made it sound more accurate imo, even though Cliff started playing an Aria by that point), I can also hear it on the Black Album as well and that interpolation with Sandman sounded awesome. Great to see these analysis video again, fantastic job as always man
So sick Andriy. I missed these videos so mach man, had a blast listening to these isolated parts again, Metallica brings back a lot of great memories. Welcome back frrrriend!
It would be cool to hear a complete breakdown of Call of Ktulu specifically live in lyceum theater because cliff does some different things in that version with these insane bends
Dude was just thinking about you the other day wondering if you were still around on youtube.. so glad youre doing well and getting by. Thanks for your insights and your videos hope you can continue to do what you love to do.. keep hanging in there and look forward to your next vid😁
😢 dude.... I am really close 2 😭, thanks for making me want to start playing my bass again!!!!!🎉 All the past 20+ yrs since I recorded my own music on yt I've been mostly ignoring the other stuff I started playing (guitar/bass) been in a tough spot in life the past month, but think when I'm in a better spot, I'm gonna get out my pstyle fretless! I've been doing music for around *30* yrs. U've made my day man.
So glad to see some content from you. Honestly worried about you when all the shit went down. Lost track of your channel for a minute there. I made sure to sub to your channel so I won't miss any new vids!
When my band covers "Bellz", my bass player doesn't do the pull-off at all, like Jason. I'd rather, if he were going to, to pull off to 16, rather than zero. It makes more musical sense, as, when combined with the first note of the next measure, makes a G major triad, and we know how much Cliff loved major and minor triads.
Hello Andriy, nice to see you back, hope all is well. I wanted to check some of your older videos such as Metallica riffs not by James, but I noticed that many of them are unlisted and private. Could you let us know why this is the case? I'm sorry if you have mentioned it already, I'm a bit off from TH-cam the last few days.
this intro is literally the first thing i ever learned to play on bass. It is simple and sounds incredible. if you listen carefully to the album version, Cliff plays it different ways, with and without the pulloff. He plays it differently every time.
Man, the video of these bassists try!ng to play Cliff's ICON❗️C intro to 🔔z was diff!cult to listen to😖. I don't remember seeing/hearing Robert performing 🔔z on the day of his audition. Chairman Het, ceo Lars, and Kirk def❗️nitely made the correct decision hiring Mr. Trujillo 🤘🤘

The other 3 songs are:
"Damage Inc." at 2:07
"Some Kind Of Monster" at 2:08
"...And Justice for All" at 2:11
I knew Justice but had no clue about the other 2
To Live Is To Die does have a spoken part ;)
@@druvasinanan1509 Instantly thought of it, but it's classified as an instrumental.
I thought the 3rd one was murder one lol
I thought If Darkness Had A Son must be one, that intro is hella long and boring

It didn't
Your right. After the crash, he really created contrast by utilizing the silence. Genius.
You're back brother!!!
I love that. “30 year old video tape.”
Wouldn’t it be 40-50 years since it was cliff before Metallica? I think lol
When I realized my favorite parts of Bell Tolls, Ktulu, and Orion were bass, I knew that was the instrument I wanted to learn
THE STAIN IS BACK AND ITS NOT YOURSSSSSS
Always great to have some fresh Andriy on YT. By the way, your wife’s art is awesome.
Welcome back, brother!
We're very welcome
I'm so glad to see you back! Been too long.

My guess Top 3 from 6:47
1: And Justice For All
2: Some Kind of Monster
3: Damage Inc
You isolated the high part!! Whaaat
Fuck yeah
The fact that Andriy is still making videos is probably what makes me the most hopeful!
Great analysis. Wszystkiego dobrego sasiedzie zza wschodniej granicy!
And Justice For All is a loooong intro, don't know about the other one...
LOVE your videos, man! Best wishes and vibes from Mexico!
First video of yours I saw was your 4 Horsemen cover. Your arms looked so tired by the end...
Thank you for the awesome breakdown
Happy to see you again, Andriy! Keep up the good work, man. Stay safe and healthy my friend.

6:45 I guess to live is to die
Well, that’s a grey area 😆 But I consider To live is to die an instrumental

11:40 you mean "(...) and justice for bells tolls"?
03:33 wow, I've never seen that image before. Didn't know Cliff used the Mesa head with the Rickenbacker as well:D
This is my top favorite Metallica song, you did a great video on this Andriy! Rock on! \m/,
Can’t wait for Painkiller Mr. Андрій Василенко

Such a great bassline from an absolute legend! 🤘
if i'd seen the poll i would've voted for painkiller, but fwtbt is still fine, i guess
Did you know that Cliff used guitar pickups on his bass.

Correct me if. I'm wrong, which I'm not 😂. But if Cliff wrote the riff, then isn't his way of playing it the correct way?
this intro is literally the first thing i ever learned to play on bass. It is simple and sounds incredible.

Thank you for bringing content to the channel, and a lot of strength for Ukraine in this fucking and cruel war. much encouragement to everyone.
8:00 free meter? Isnt it just one measure of 2/4 every second measure?
Painkiller deserves a breakdown as well, pair it with something as iconic in the poll, like, perhaps stargazer?
17:40 lock him up
That bass intro was a riff from his previous band
👍👍👍👍
Today I am grateful for Cliff...
✌🏽😎🤟🏽
that overlaping wouldve been awesome on you must burn, james did it live as a mistake
There's also another bass track during the intro which doubles the guitar... without which the intro sounds very thin.

I think cliff didnt use his pinky because of how low he had his strap and its kinda hard to use the pinky with your arm that way
I dig the facial hair
That’s from laziness to shave XD
It looks like they were always there. But not. Something is not ok. They looks at me, and scaring me.

for me, it's the first MetallicA song without a solo
Painkiller next time please

It really sounds like Cliff saying fuck probally impressed by James vocals but I doubt he would just have a mic for no reason so most likely James
holy F(bass) a metalligeek video fr
