    Gil is 100 percent right. If the players hold out, the fans will get tired of the replacements and turn it off. When the fans stop watching, the sponsors stop paying. When the sponsors stop paying, the team owners are going to make the deal.

    The Fact the NFL has a salary cap and no guaranteed contracts is enough to lockout if you can't discipline yourself to live off 200K per year than you can't live on 200M per year

      Waddaya mean per year. You just said the contracts weren't guaranteed so after the lockout begins those players getting paid 200k aren't getting paid anymore. Especially 200k contract meaning it's the league minimum also meaning no big signing bonus to survive off of. Only about 5 players a team getting paid the big money meaning big signing bonus to survive the other 48 or so are had by the nuts.

      @@zazzazoozay2914he saying if you can’t collect your $200-300k this year and manage it to live off of it during the lockout then you can’t manage well. Which essentially just comes down to living below your means until an agreement can be reached. Most Americans are making it off of $60k/year. It would just be a sacrifice but at least now when you come back that 2-500k is fully guaranteed no matter what and obviously any other contracts. Now with that being said the owners could easily still vouch for retaining a hard salary cap but it just means you can’t pay a QB 50/mil a year so in turn it would level out the the paying field for all positions. BUT that smaller contract is fully guaranteed. It’ll be a give and take

The shield as a brand is shrinking while the brand of the indivual brand star QB is rising. Patrick Mahomes is about as popular of america athelte that there is. Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, as individuals are all bigger than The Shield.

      Let's quit the BS tho. Mlb has 162 games a year and the NBA 82 games. NFL got 17 with 55 players.
      Mlb 162 with 26 (in an active roster and 40 man rsater)
      Nba team got 15-20 players with 82 games. Obviously the pool of money is way larger for nba teams than nfl.
      Nba playoffs is more rounds and more games per round. NFL you have one bad month and your season is almost over

That equals 270 million per game in ticket sales plus merch and food sales and TV rights. The NFL makes endless money. They should pay the lower players more money. Everyone on the team should make at minimum a million a year. The practice squad maybe less because they don't play etc. Also they have to spend a lot in keeping the stadium up and paying all those people to work at the stadium etc.

    It’s simple math . NFL teams have 52-53 players . NBA teams have 14-18 players . The NBA can afford to pay each player much more .

      Exactly just look at the numbers. 2022 nfl had a revenue of 12billion, and they have almost 1700 PLAYERS, not even accounting for anything else. The nba had 10.5 billion and they only have 450 players. Like it’s really just a numbers game

      Exactly, the modern NFL fan is paying to watch their favorite player, regardless of the team. They are not going to waste their money on replacement players, and the same applies to those TV networks.
      Once the TV networks refuse broadcast NFL games without the real players, this will force Goodell and the owners to make a decision.

      NFL players play around 20 games a year. The other sports play more games which means more revenue and ticket sales. Therefore NFL players will typically make less money per year. Mathematically it makes sense.

      Nobody seems to look at real numbers. NFL player revenue share is 48% and the NBA player revenue share is 51%. 3% more spread out over a 53 man roster wont look that different.

    When the owners used replacement players during the 1987 strike, those who crossed the picket line included future Hall of Famers like Joe Montana and Lawrence Taylor. MLB owners tried using replacements during the 1994-5 strike, but not a single regular player crossed the picket line. That would explain why the NFL has a hard salary cap, while MLB has just a luxury tax.
    And the NHL did lose a whole season to a work stoppage about 20 years ago, and they are still in operation.

    Social Media has created a lane that has allowed fans to become much more attached to players. The notion that fans are only attached to teams compared to players may have been true in the 80s but times are different now and I think that changes everything. Fans would not be okay with replacement players playing now for an extended period. People already hate the preseason

    NFL makes 10x that of the NBA as a league. The issue is revenue sharing which it’s obviously NFL owners don’t want to increase the slice of pie given to NFL players.

    The owners have these players programmed to think like Unc. Thinking it won’t really matter because they can replace them.     It's easy for those that have a solidify standing to hold out or ask others to hold out. Those that are just making ends meet will never do since they have more to lose.
    If the movement is important, the top tier players need to provide loans, with no interest. That way they have skin in the game, without making a potential side profit, as those that are cutting their living paycheck. Both will have strong incentive to make the hold out work.
