What a lot of people fail to realize is that a lot of professional athletes go broke because their family members become dependents. You gotta be able to say no.
It’s even worse than that in my opinion. Many make enough money that they actually *could* take care of the whole family or most of it….but they can’t afford to fly the whole family around first class buying hotels and the food. They could get each household a Honda…but not $125K Mercedeses. Buy them all regular houses they’d never have to pay for…not upgrade everyone to McMansions that can’t afford the taxes on. Love Ocho's mentality. He never forgets who he was. I bet you the most expensive thing he ever bought was for his immediate family or for him and his wife. Applaud the man who knows his value and doesnt need to flash
Rob Gronkowski is pretty smart too like ocho cinco. It was reported that Gronk never touched his whole NFL earnings and kept it in the bank to work for him and he just lived off on the extra income he got from commercials, etc., etc.
Same with Marshawn Lynch. He only lived off his endorsement money when he was playing and saved every penny he made as a player because he was mindful of the limited time he had as a runningback.
Does the NFL's program present financial illiteracy like this? Maybe A.P. was depressed. Hopefully, professional sports organizations offer programs that show players how to deal with depression and other emotional issues.

I have read the majority of lottery winners go broke too. If you’re born into wealth, you see from example how to handle it. The typical person, if they receive a windfall (like a pro sports contract or a lottery win) do not know how to handle it. To make matters worse, we do not teach financial literacy in our schools, so people make terrible decisions all the time.

@@keithymg Maybe good with his money, yes but smart?? Dude can't even grasp why the Vikings shouldn't just gift AP the $ 5 mil.
You have to change this culture of excessive materialism. The hell with stuntin' and flossin'. Make it about quality of life.
I think for most it isn’t about the million dollar chains, it’s about what they think people think about them having a million dollar chain. It isn’t the material itself, it’s about the image that they think it projects.
Ocho said "Boy shit" i felt that 😂😂
LOL!!!
And ninja what?!! 🤣🤣 time stamp 9
Ocho is in a very rare 1996 croatia MNT kit wow. I found one of them at goodwill but ive never seen anyone else with one.
Good eye. Absolutely rare.
@@victorandresreyespujada2449 its a SUKER!!!!
hell he probably got it at Goodwill too the way he talks about money
Definitely a classic
Ocho: I'm cheap.
Ocho: When i eat out i tip 1000 Dollars
A $1,000 isn’t the millions AP threw away!
Man go fix somebody with that 3 month vocational doctorate
he restricts himself. so he can do shit that like this for others without it hurting his pockets
@@sunnys7138fake ahh doctor 😂

Great conversation brothers! Much needed
These two have outstanding chemistry and this was a strong video with a strong message. Keep these coming!
People with real money are not flashy with their money
They really are. This is a misconception.
The 20 bedroom mansions and 3 million dollar cars say otherwise.
You guys who make this statement are not smart or factually correct in any way.
My grandpas garage says otherwise lol.
My coworkers disagree with you
F-ing love Ocho. Just a regular dude who happened to make a lot of money playing football.
I freaking love this show dawg. The conversations are so stimulating💯. In these two are so hilarious.
"A fool and his money are soon parted" - Somebody Smart
Love Ocho's mentality. He never forgets who he was. I bet you the most expensive thing he ever bought was for his immediate family or for him and his wife. Applaud the man who knows his value and doesnt need to flash
First class is way more expensive than that, he likely spent 3-4 million for that one party. Easily.
Shiiiiiii
It was worth it tho
If that's true that's FUC*ING Insane. It's hard to feel bad for a dude who wasted over 100 million dollars
@@iamhorcruxer you're one of the 300 people 😂
Maybe close to 5 million or more
This needs to be seen by every actors, rappers and sports personnel on the problems that can happen with bad money management
Rob Gronkowski is pretty smart too like ocho cinco. It was reported that Gronk never touched his whole NFL earnings and kept it in the bank to work for him and he just lived off on the extra income he got from commercials, etc., etc.
Right, plus he lived in a condo in Boston too.
Same with Marshawn Lynch. He only lived off his endorsement money when he was playing and saved every penny he made as a player because he was mindful of the limited time he had as a runningback.
He also grew up in an upper middle class household with a brother already in the league. He had two legs up.
This podcast clip should be the standard for player orientation into the NFL.
They already have financial literacy programs. Some of them just don't listen.
Does the NFL's program present financial illiteracy like this? Maybe A.P. was depressed. Hopefully, professional sports organizations offer programs that show players how to deal with depression and other emotional issues.
@@dladylikessports7780even if you are depressed, you should understand basic logic of spending that much money. If I make X dollars, then I can’t spend Y dollars because I don’t want my Z dollars to equal 0.00
I agree but if I'm not mistaken the NFL has an orientation, for rookies coming into the league and they educate them on this stuff.
True some of them don't listen, they think the checks will keep on coming.
This one is tough. These guys didn't mention the amount of Children AP has.
Which is another part of his life where he was reckless. 7 baby mommas,
Brutal
Ocho has more kids than Adrian
Regular folks need to watch these two talk. Not just athletes.

Me too and I don't have money it deep
Yea, no doubt.
When Shannon is right he doubles down hard. I especially like how he rolled with Oocho's comments about giving AP the money if he were a billionaire and showed how that wouldn't change AP's situation.
I love how Ocho doesn't know something when Shannon drops the truth on him. His facial expressions are pure gold.
@ 8:45 that “nikka what” from Ocho was hilarious
😅
Ocho was taken aback 😂
Right 😂😂😂😂 Hilarious
😂😂😂
Lol had to rewind
I have always had respect for both of these men as far as their playing days were concerned but after hearing them speak and discussing this topic and several other issues it has increased 10 fold I’ve never heard former athletes publicly speak like this on relevant and serious topics 🫡 I salute these gentlemen for educating a lot of people with their knowledge 👏👏👏👏
I feel you Ocho. I feel you Unc. Difficult situation when you want to help a friend in need. We just don't want to be an enabler and make it worse for them in the long run. I hope AP gets it together. Great show. I needed to think on everything y'all discussed.💯
Debt. The rest of America is sitting on billions in unpaid student loans. The others are driving cars they cannot afford and with no car insurance.
if not student loans car loans and credit card debit is there ready to take its place.
Ocho’s frugality got him stuttering 😂
Man, I didn't like Ocho when he was playing, but I sure do like him now. He's a decent and respectable man. I think I misunderstood him back in the day. I understand now that he was branding himself.
This was important. Thank yall for this 💯
I threw my wife a birthday party that people still talk about for $300. Ate and drank good! Sheesh.
Yea Chuck E Cheese is fun
😂😂😂@@iamhorcruxer
That's because you're not a millionaire . If you were a millionaire you would've spent a $1,000 😂
You have just as much fun with genos pizza rolls and Shasta plus those are real friends
Sharp needs to be the financial literacy coach for the NFL straight up
I needed to hear this convo myself....I was just like adrian peterson in 2021....when we was getting all that money back from unemployment, I got the most money I ever had at once, in one big lump some and they where still paying me 850 a week....I went absolutely BESERK! I thought because I had so much, I could spend and do whatever I wanted because I had plenty of money, man 4 months later, I was spending so much, with both fist, I had like 50 dollars in my account...let me tell you, there is no worst feeling, then having a large sum of money, and it all being gone right before your eyes, and your sitting their confused like "how tf did I spend all that money"....big mistake....Like chad said, you have to think of the long term...I always thought of the right now, and that never has ever got me anywhere
I had the exact same thought while listening to this. My experience was the same as yours. I spent a lot, and since I don't drive, it went really fast on taxi and Uber fares because I wasn't comfortable riding the bus once we returned to work.
850 a week isn't a lot of money.
@@itsme3kto some people it is. No need to be a dick about it.

That shit hit me hard when Ocho said you got step on a lot of ppl when you got a lot of money. Spend what comfortable don’t go over your means ppl
Ocho needs to be speaking at the combine on handling finances in the NFL
They already have countless NFL Legends doing that now; including some of the guys that scored the mega contracts of the 90’s and 2000’s. But he probably can add more perspective.
That’s what veterans do for soldiers or any military personnel we normally get this speech not only at our home unit but also what we call the Welcome center
every nfl, mlb,nba and nhl player need to see this video
Ocho, man oh man you so real! I'd love to have you up to my cigar lounge in pa and just sit and talk to you and Shannon! Yall be having my stomach hurting! But, you guys are so spot on with all the world events yall talk on
I hate when people get mad at the "Media" for reporting on their actions. AP knew about his financial issues. And knew that company wanted their money that he owes.
You hate it, but it it was you being discussed, sh*t wouldn’t be all giggles.

Adrian Peterson, didn't seem like the brightest player, but I hope he was at least financially stable for a good portion of his career. If not, he will be in court for a long time and even more money being spent.

This is such an important discussion for these athletes to have. These athletes need to listen. Stop trying to impress people who won’t give two 💩 when you’re broke.
Man Ocho way more in touch with reality than I'd expect. He reacting the same way I am to the news 😅
I’m shocked Ocho survived this segment 😭😭
You really bad with money when you take out a 5.2 million dollar consolidation loan. Smh Also nobody has 300 real friends. Those people aint your friends.
Exactly. I bet you none of them 300 friends he could call to lend him money. Be wise ppl
These podcast are hella entertaining 😀
Having the right friends and a small circle will save you 1000 of dollars.

Imagine the interest rate on that loan 😅…. boy is DROWNING IN DEBT
Ochoooo, huge shout-out for the jersey man, the Croatian football jersey from the 1998. World Cup, where we won a bronze medal. Americans I think can't grasp how huge that is, especially for a country with fewer than 4 million people. I hope it's a 9 and says ŠUKER on it. Much love Ocho!
i’m from ireland so Football (soccer) is THE SPORT on top of our national sports i love his Kit (uniform) collection
