i love how when i finally pull the trigger and drop 4 grand on 762 OSS cans 9 months ago, only for them to release the exact same can but with the flash hider that they've had for the 556 cans.....just love it

@@JohnDoe-sx2zk im referring to their 30cans they have had for years(along with the 556 cans) but the 556 cans have the flash hider built into the end of the can vs the 30cal cans that don't(until now after years and a name change and a few grand for a brand new older gen)

I finally got the version of this can without the flash hider front end out of prison a couple months ago after of an 11 month wait, and then they release the version with the flash hider. Figures...

POINT OF IMPACT SHIFT: I have tested the "OSS" HX-QD 762 Ti on three AR platform rifles and here are my POI shift averages after 100 rounds, w/ full barrel clean every 20 rounds. (1) 0.48 MOA @ high-left for Rainier Ultra Match 6.5 Creedmore 22" (2) 0.80 MOA low for Rainier Match 10.5" .223 Wylde (3) 0.22 MOA right for BA Heavy Fluted Match 223 Wylde, 18". I hope this info helps!

Just awful. STI was better I’m glad someone else agrees. What I can’t figure out is why either brand thought they needed to REBRAND. it’s not like they had a bad reputation and needed to reinvent.

Having put a few thousand rounds through my original hx-qd 762 I can say for sure it has MAJOR flash reduction problems

If you could buy a suppressor like any other gun part, the price of them would drop to maybe couple hundred bucks. There would be way more companies selling them
Over $1200 (plus the $200 tax stamp) for a metal tube with some baffles inside is still just ridiculous.

I love mine. Can throw it on any of my guns and don't have to adjust the gas everytime.

Single peak meter data is dead. @pewscience tests it the right way. Granted. He shows the efficacy of OSS designs. But they are still relatively loud cans.
I do like what Jay is doing over there, it’s definitely some detailed and thorough data. The B&K does provide a good baseline comparison to other cans I’ve tested on the same meter, and yes, the OSS designs are loud up front for sure and have a “boomy” tone, but really in my testing they meter about the same as more traditional cans do at the ear minus the back pressure, cyclic rate increase, and other associated issues. Hard to beat on autoloaders.
@@chads3356 I agree. The OSS speaks wonders on gas sensitive hosts. AK’s, Scars, 16/14.5 carbine length systems, AUGs. Etc.
And does well on untuned hosts. It’s a great out of the box can. For out of the box rifles. 99 percent of the time it needs no tuning.
@@chads3356I am running my HX-QD 762 on my PA-10a1 basically the HK762a1 we have at home. Whether I went that way for aesthetics, justify the worst performing 30 cal can on 300blk subs, or what, I think it’s a great fit for an AR 308 running supers. Even on my rifle with an AGB, I still dropped in a Tubbs AR 10 flatwire spring and H3 buffer (A5 tube length) AND reduced the gas.
In my experience, tuning a rifle either by AGB, buffer, or both really only affects the cyclic rate and quick squirts of gas. A traditional high omega baffle stack tends to have high backpressure and therefore introduces blowback. This isn’t a problem on bolt action rifles, but as you said, auto loaders really benefit from the nearly non-existent backpressure. For me, the supersonic rounds are already loud enough that I appreciate the reduction of gas to the face more than the additional sound suppression I could get from other designs.

I love my 5 OSS cans. I’ve got the 22lr, 9mm, 45ACP, 556 TI with flash hider and the 762 TI no flash hider. I’m going to snag a steel 762 with flash hider now.
Cant wait to see what metal 3d printers are able to do for suppressors, being able to create interesting gas ports and patterns that would be super difficult or impossible to machine.

I was really hoping this huxwrx thing from OSS was a bad joke/fake rumor started by someone, but its apparently not, andthe name is really bad, and im sure a lot of people agree with me. As long as OSS is still a company I can buy suppressors from with their markings on it I'm fine, but with a stupid name like Huxwrx, I wont buy one with those markings on it. Hope they know a lot of people feel the same...

Yes, but with the AAC M4-2000 if you’ll notice. The ejection with the Helix is virtually unchanged.

They make a 14x1LH adapter, if that’s what you’re referring to. I used a brake on the DDI for this test.

How often do you clean them and how do they hold up over the years? I've heard that the small turbine channels can clog up with fouling...
You don't clean 30 cal cans. Only 22 cans really need it.
If remember correctly, OSS recommends cleaning these every 2,500 rounds with a soak and shoot method.

Just wish they could retro-fit the old cans.. Its frustrating, the flash at night under nods is extreme at times.
Unless they changed the internals around, it seems like they could just weld the new endcap onto an older body. I’m here wondering the same thing.

Hi Chad, can you do a video explaining what the chart numbers mean? I love the videos! I just don’t understand the measurements.
There are some details in the spreadsheet linked in the description, but you have the unsuppressed measurements at both positions as well as suppressed measurements. The NSR is the sound reduction from unsuppressed to suppressed average, FRP is first round pop.

Can you do a review on the Witt machine mod 1 with the new QD mount, there’s no Information anywhere on whether the 9mm version can take Nelson devices for shooting on pistols. And there’s only one video about it on TH-cam.
We have a 9mm Mod 1, I haven’t considered trying it on a pistol because it is so heavy, mainly been using it on PCCs. When I have a chance I’ll try to confirm.

Yes to both - but PLEASE buy a 30 cal alignment rod for your AK and test concentricity first. AKs are notorious for not having the greatest tolerances

I love my dead air . I've been so happy with the products I bought from them I don't know if I could even try another company. I have a mask hd , Sendman s and L , dead,air wolfman, And a primal. The only suppressor I own that is not from that company is the ruger silent S or 22LR suppressor which I also love as well. But I just don't think I can devote money that I can spend Money on another product over a dead air.
Just leave the name OSS. This is a mistake. OSS has military affiliation, Huxwrks does not, etc.

Why is there flash in only the first round?
The “first round flash” is due to the oxygen initially present inside the can being consumed on that first shot.
@@chads3356 thanks! So in theory, you could use a can of compressed CO2 to spray into the suppressor/end of the barrel to prevent the first flash? 🤔
@@MrBrandoncal In theory yes, it’s the same concept for minimizing/eliminating first round pop as well (i.e. devices like the Pop Stop) A flash hider (or flash hider end cap) will generally help disperse the exiting gasses so the flash is minimized, but it’s hard to eliminate it completely on the first shot.
I can shoot my 14.5 AR and .308 bolt gun without hearing protection, using the older version OSS HD 7.62 TI. It is not uncomfortable.
