In a world of sequel, prequels, reboots, and remakes... gotta respect the director who's still making the fresh original movies. Thank you Mr. Shyamalan!
Honestly, the movie is absolutely amazing. The producer giving away the identity of Cooper is just a minor part in the whole plot. It's actually so much more than that. The psychological side of the movie is my favorite part. I highly recommend to watch. Rating it 1 solid 9.5/10
I had low expectations because of all the nonsense that was written by people who had not seen the film. I completely agree with you, the film is not only visually pleasing to watch, tense and fun, but the psychological aspects are also shown very well.
I always admire Shyamalan for his persistence in trying to give us some attention-worthy movies, despite some issues that critics and fans have understandably had with some of his most recent endeavors. And this certainly looks very promising.
Josh Harnett has done some GREAT Horror roles. Halloween, 30 days of night, the faculty, penny dreadful. It's good to see him come back to this and with M. Night directing! This is gonna be good 😈
This was a good movie, and Josh Hartnett puts on a very good performance; I was impressed and enjoyed the movie. It’s very different than I expected, and the story wasn’t stupid Hollywood over the top nonsense. I highly recommend this as a movie night option.
I highly doubt it’s as straightforward as that! Obviously if you’ve seen any M Night films then you know that there 100% will be a bucket load of twists! Spoiler Alert!!!… Bruce Willis comes back from the dead and is the killer 👻
@@callumcc8897 Hahahah my guess was that they kill Hartnetts character thinking he's the killer, but really the guy locked in his home is or something like that.
Say what you want about M. Night Shyamalan movies, but in a sea of remakes and unoriginal ideas, Shyamalan continues to put out originality. We see Shyamalan attached to a movie, it's always a must watch for us.
If anything else, I like that M. Night takes on original stories that he writes instead of just more sequels/remakes/big franchise or adaptation movies. Execution is all that matters in the end, originality won't count for much if it sucks, but originality is very much needed as a breath of fresh air for moviegoers (not counting indie movies, obviously, but it doesn't feel often we see original big-budget movies).
@@jskelly1979 A franchise that he created. But to be fair, I don't think anyone could've predicted that Split was connected to Unbreakable until the ending scene.

Funny because he made even numbered movies in the 2000s: 2000: Unbreakable 2002: Signs 2004: The Village 2006: Lady In The Water 2008: The Happening 2010: The Last Airbender
Man, this movie feels like an instant classic! I keep coming back to this trailer, as I'm literally mesmerized. The problem with M. Night movies was always the acting, but when he got that right, his movies went up to the awards. And this one, this one seems like one of the good ones. Hitchcock vibes, insane Hartnett performance and most likely some memorable twist.
I’m sorry but no. Have you seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, Old or After Earth. The problem wasn’t the acting, it was the god awful writing those movies had. M Night can give great stuff and then release garbage the next year.

M. Night is smarter than that to just give away the real twist. He showed what he showed but everyone knows he always has another twist . Excited to see where it goes
Just finished it. • great tension build-up • great acting • great plot execution, has some dumb actions by the characters for the sake of the plot but barely noticeable • has a slightly rewatch factor Overall: great film, highly recommended Remarks: I think the Cooper and how he was caught was heavily influenced by Ted Bundy's.
I like the fact that they revealed who is the murderer in the trailer itself. Because with M. Night it has always been a criticism that he relies on the final twist too much. Here I believe he is following the Hitchcock's rule of building suspense. ☺️
@@Sharna378@sethblack8717 If there were to be a secondary twist, maybe it could be something like the daughter is the killer, and her father lets her do whatever she wants? Say she could have a line early on about her father letting her do whatever she wants (referring to the concert), which would then be returned to later on (if that is the second twist) in a more sinister light.
This is an M. Night movie. Give him more credit than that. You're thinking too simply/one dimensional. You know there's move going on than what the trailer is making things appear.
I dislike that fact very much. 'Cos the problem with that one is that it killed ALL TENSION from the movie. It would have been okay if after that it would have build into some other form of suspense, but no... nothing of any interest. If this was trying to follow Hitchcock's rules, then the makers must ordered their book from Wish and only read the 1st page.

I saw it with my black friend. He complained that all of the black male characters were easily fooled by the guy. After the 3rd black dude fell for him, I was like ..yep, see it..totally obvious now.
If you haven't seen it yet hes plays one of the main characters on a very dark episode of Black Mirror called Beyond the Sea. Season 6 Episode 3. Its a little over a year old now.
Knowing Shyamalan, the fact that in the trailer, he's making us believe Josh is the killer means he is not. And in pure M. Night fashion, I expect a cameo from him.
I think the daughter is the real killer (a killer who can’t help killing as it’s like an addiction and the concert was like his attempt to try and get her off the addiction and just be a normal teenager) and the whole time he’s scared that if his daughter realises that there’s people after her, then she will turn red and kill everyone. He’s just an accomplice like that shop keeper from Little Shop Of Horrors who kept feeding the plant people because it needs to.
I really enjoyed this crafty pursuit thriller that includes a brilliant third act! Great to watch Hayley Mills back on screen, as well as a superb break out performance from Saleka Shyamalon...director M. Night's daughter! Enjoy!
Josh Harnett gives me " 8 simple rules John Ritter" Vibes in this trailer. Super stoked to see a very sinister version of Family Friendliness. Can't wait for August to come soon.
He's really going to show how good his acting range is. He really pulled off the warm family man and good father vibe. But when it came time, he was able to show the craze in his eyes that his character is hiding. This is going to be a great movie!

My new favorite movie. Please, give it a chance! Kindly give M.Night Shyamalan a chance to make different movies, don’t expect ghostly twists or aliens. It is an amazing analysis about how desensitized we are to true crime, the power of social media and the projection we manage with the protagonists despite being “bad”
Josh hartnet has been doing smaller Indy films with good story telling. So the fact he's in this means that he liked the script. So it should actually be pretty good.
3 theories... 1. He actually isn't the Butcher (they cut it to make it look that way) 2. They wrote "In the world of Shyamalan" So it may be another movie trilogy connected to his future works like Unbreakable. 3. It's already connected to a previous work. Just saying, can't put anything past this writer/director. I love his work. And I specify believe one of my theories more than the other 2. Actually... If I'm right about anything, 2 of my theories are correct at the same time. Can't wait to see it!
To those of you who have complaints regarding all the spoilers in the trailers... Simple fix: Stop watching the trailers. I haven't watched a full movie trailer in probably 3 or 4 years now, and I haven't regretted it once! "How do you know if you'll like the movie?" Happy you asked... I will sometimes watch the first 20 seconds of a trailer - if it feels good within that timeframe, then I'll see the movie. Also, I use other forms of social media to get a taste of what I'm in for in terms of filmography. Example: My phone's media feed informs me when a good film is on the horizon, then I simply read an article about the latest film. Boom! Problem solved...
I’m not even mad that the trailer gives away the initial twist, I’m sure M. Night has more up his sleeve than just that.

Say what you want about M. Night Shyamalan movies, but in a sea of remakes and unoriginal ideas, Shyamalan continues to put out originality. We see Shyamalan attached to a movie, it's always a must watch for us.
He's hit or miss with his ideas, but that's why I am a fan. He puts out originality as you put it.
To be fair, Old and A Knock at the Cabin were adaptations from books, but he nonetheless brings an originality to good work regardless

Stuff said about every Knight movie. Next
I’m sorry but no. Have you seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, Old or After Earth. The problem wasn’t the acting, it was the god awful writing those movies had. M Night can give great stuff and then release garbage the next year.

Is it even a twist to begin with? It’s kind of a central plot point. A lot of his more recent films have been like this.
Just finished it.
• great tension build-up
• great acting
• great plot execution, has some dumb actions by the characters for the sake of the plot but barely noticeable
• has a slightly rewatch factor
Overall: great film, highly recommended
Remarks: I think the Cooper and how he was caught was heavily influenced by Ted Bundy's.
I like the fact that they revealed who is the murderer in the trailer itself. Because with M. Night it has always been a criticism that he relies on the final twist too much. Here I believe he is following the Hitchcock's rule of building suspense. ☺️
I'm sure that's not the twist it's way to easy...
@@CarissaConti exactly. thank you.

A janitor or watchman
A self indulgent cameo from the M dog himself. An Indian security guard or something. 😅😅😅
