Jeremy Irons is a great treasure that can never be valued by people who don't value true talent. I have always loved his voice, his demeanor and his values. He will always BE one of the greatest actors we have ever known.
This is true. It resonated with me. At school we didn't have much in the way of theatre's, or in any case as a boy, I thought it something to steer clear of. Didn't have time for it anyway as it would mean extra work or staying after school day ended, for it. But then one day during English (as a [compulsory] foreign laguage) we were told of this yearly competition. It was run by American schools mainly, and it involved three four fields. Impromptu speaking. Duet acting. And Debate. Now debate was serious stuff, as you would be debating current world affair issues. Bug I did the other two. Impromptu and Duet Acting. It was grand. And particularly from Duet Acting it was perhaps the first time that I felt what it meant to work together with someone else as a team too.
"I've been around long enough to know that once or twice I did that." Once or twice. Of course, Mr. Irons. His complete lack of arrogance here is humbling.
