@@Taniel-r9j which prophets were killed by the nation of Israel? You can’t just say they killed all their prophets (whose names & words they wrote down and kept safe for thousands of years). You have to be able to name them.
@Danny-t1k Hashem is God of Jews. They were challenged in keeping Torah due to living in Nations that don't. They are lead astray often and that was prophesied by Moses and known it would be so. They are human just like everyone else. Do you ever try to observe 613 commandments perfectly. Watch what your tongue lashes at since you will know one day and feel shamed. Through all the history of Hashem's Torah there has always been Jacob's children, a handful, who have through many hardships and persecutions kept the Torah. Hashem knows every challenge and struggle all people have and the survivors who keep Torah are beloved of Hashem our merciful Creator.

There are several passages in the Talmud and other rabbinic writings that acknowledge Isaiah 53 as referring to the Messiah. While some later interpretations attempt to apply the passage to Israel as a suffering servant, earlier sources, including the Talmud, often interpreted Isaiah 53 in a Messianic context. Here are some key citations: Talmudic References to Isaiah 53 as Messianic: Sanhedrin 98b The Talmud discusses the name of the Messiah and calls him “The Leper Scholar” (or “The Leper of the House of Rabbi”), referencing Isaiah 53:4: “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” This indicates that the suffering servant of Isaiah 53 was understood by the rabbis as the Messiah, who bears the afflictions of Israel. Sanhedrin 93b Discusses a righteous Messiah who suffers for the sins of others. It references Isaiah 53:5: “And the Lord laid upon him the iniquity of us all.” This passage affirms that the Messiah suffers vicariously for Israel’s sins. Pesikta Rabbati 36 (Midrashic Text, but cited in Talmudic discourse) Describes how the Messiah endures sufferings for Israel’s sake and refers to Isaiah 53:5: “He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities.” The Messiah voluntarily accepts suffering to atone for Israel’s sins. Yalkut Shimoni on Isaiah 52:13-53:12 (Rabbinic Commentary) Describes how the Messiah suffers and is rejected, quoting Isaiah 53. “This is the King Messiah, who is destined to be exalted and lifted up.” It applies Isaiah 53 directly to the Messiah and his eventual exaltation. Midrash Tanhuma (Rabbinic Midrash, but used alongside Talmudic sources) Refers to the sufferings of the Messiah in connection with Isaiah 53: “The Messiah bears the sins of Israel and suffers on their behalf.” These references indicate that many early Jewish sources acknowledged Isaiah 53 as a prophecy about the suffering Messiah.
@@Yerimiyahu That's nice, but what does Isaiah say? In the previous chapters Isaiah says that the suffering servant is Israel, not Yoschge. We should go with that rather than your interpretation of what you think the Rabbis are saying in the Midrash and the Talmud.

I remember reading this as a Christian and "feeling" Jesus, then I learned about Yiddishkeit, and learned about the continuous suffering of the Jewish people from Mitzraim, to Rabbi Akiba, to the untold number of pogrom over the last 2,000 years, to the ghettos, to Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, etc. Then I understood this passage. Then I understand this passage, Rabbi Singer. The spirit of contrition I felt. Knowing that I as part of Christendom, actively and passively had contributed to that suffering, whilst all the while since the creation of the Jewish people, the Yidden had been praying for me, and making atonements for me. Not only, that as a black person in America, so many Jews had made personal intercessions, some risking their lives, some surrendering their lives for the advancement of my people, I felt/feel a sense of double obligation to speak up for the 'K'LAL.' In that way, although I may not be of the family of Yaakov Avinu, in am most certainly of the household of Yisroel.
The crazy thing is A LOT of Jewish suffering was a product of Christianity. The Inquisition and the Crusaders massacring entire villages of Jews in the name of Christ. Christianity had the opposite effect for Jews that the Mashiach is supposed to bring.

@@sharonraffanti3632 "firstborn" just means preeminent. Reuben was Jacob's firstborn, but he later lost the right to it due to his transgression and the firstborn right was given to joseph. Is Israel more preeminent that the messiah?
@D-Trez go and read the last few chapters to learn about the Messiah. It is very different to your view. All those concocted Christian words have no foundation in Tanakh. And it is ONLY the BLESSING if the firstborn that was given to Judah and to Jacob. Both Reuben and Esau remain the firstborn. My firstborn son is forever that, my first child.
I explain it this way to Christians when they bring it up to me. Sometimes they struggle to see how it's referring to the nation of Israel. When this happens I go at it in a different way. I tell them, "Let's say it's talking about a single individual. For arguments sake, let's use your Christian translation and ignore the translation issues. You believe this entire chapter is talking about Jesus right? Right. So, down here in verse 10 where it says that 'he shall see his seed,' it makes me wonder, how many children did Jesus have? And yes, it's talking about offspring, not a garden of plants, not followers. Seed always means offspring or children when we see it used in reference to a person. So if this is about Jesus, that means he must have had children. If he didn't have children that he saw, then it can't be about him."
Jesus and His Father are One …according to his testimony that got him killed. If he’s right… if he is the king of the Jews … he has children. If John Chapter 1 is right…Jesus actually made everything that was made… including us.

Whenever I get quoted Isaiah 53 by a Christian, I point out that the book's author says he talking about Jacob/Israel thirty one times. So that means Isaiah 53 is usually the ONLY verse from Isaiah they actually know.
Also very important to point out it says the subject of the chapter will see descendants and live a long life, obviously ruling out someone who died young without children. This is conveniently overlooked by missionaries.

Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. 4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b] 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. 11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e]; by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g] and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h] because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. You need to remember this. In Isaiah 43:10 it says, "You are my servant." But. This is both in the plural and in the singular. Because the TORAH was originally written without punctuation. The punctuation was added by the sages from the tradition memory that was passed down orally from generation to generation. The Christian Bible fixes meanings according to what it wants. Even if technically this may be true, but because of the Christian fixation, the entire deep meaning of every word in the Torah and the prophets dissolves.
Folks, watch Rabbi Singers video "Dont watch this powerful program if you plan to remain Christian" where he lays out many quotes from Isaiah where the Jewish People are clearly called the suffering servant ( Isaiah 41:8 -9,42:6,43:10,44:1-2,44:21,45:40,48:20,49:30 think I got them all!)
Israel is constantly referred to in singular pronoun throughout the Bible, and even in the New Testament, Mary refers to Israel as a singular servant of God in Luke 1:54.

@Yerimiyahu The Talmud acknowledges the Messiah as suffering for the sins of Israel. It also acknowledges other great sages and Tzadikim suffering for the sins of Israel. This does not mean that someone suffering is a sign that they are the Messiah. Thinking that would be insane.
Why did the pharisee interpret the thora from the event of destruction of the temple and started to cancel and invent lots of rituals and turned the remnant of israel into rabbinic judaism Talking about logic here The only reason is greed and ego
The author intended the suffering servant to be Israel / the Righteous Remnant. Linguistic context: 🔷Isaiah 54:11 "oh, afflicted one" (the afflicted one is Israel) 🔷Isaiah 60:14 "all who DESPISED you AFFLICTED you (Israel)" 🔷Zephaniah 3:19 "all who afflicted you." (the righteous remnant, they will tell no lies and do no wrong) 🔷Psalm 44:24 "our affliction" (the righteous remnant, innocent sheep led to the slaughter) The same root word 'afflicted' is used in different forms. 🔶Isaiah 53:4 [וּמְעֻנֶּֽה] "and afflicted." 🔶Isaiah 53:7 [נַעֲנֶה֮] "afflicted," 🔷Isaiah 54:11 [עֲנִיָּ֥ה] “O afflicted city," 🔷Isaiah 60:14 [מְעַנַּ֔יִךְ] "of your afflictors" 🔷Zeph 3:19 [מְעַנַּ֖יִךְ] "all who afflicted you" 🔷Psalm 44:24 [עׇנְיֵ֣נוּ] "our affliction" 🔶Verse 53:2 "He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground." In Isaiah 60:21-22 the author clearly confirms that the shoot God planted is referring to the people of Israel, even using plural "They are the shoot I have planted ... the smallest a mighty nation.". (This chapter also identifies them as the afflicted one 60:14) See also: Ezekiel 19:13, Hosea 14:6-7, Amos 9:15. This imagery of a plant struggling to grow in dry earth has been used throughout the Bible as referring to the nation of Jews. 🔶Verse 53:5 is a classic example of mistranslation: The verse does not say, “He was wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities,” Rather, the proper translation is: “He was wounded because of our transgressions, and crushed because of our iniquities.” The Servant suffered as a result of the sinfulness of others - not the opposite as Christians contend - that the Servant suffered to atone for the sins of others. 🔶Verse 53:8 the use of the Hebrew word "them" (למו) (the final word in the sentence) shows that the servant of Isaiah 53 is not a single individual. Christian Bibles escape this by changing the text from "them" to "he" or “him”. Which is inaccurate. 🔶Verse 53:9 also shows that the servant has to be a plural group of people and not a single individual, because the plural word "deaths" (בְּמֹתָ֑יו). Christians argue that the word deaths is plural here to signify an intense, emphatic death, but this concept is nowhere found in the Hebrew Bible or in Jewish literature. Google Translate is very faulty but here is an example that showcases this: ["at his death" = "במותו"] ["at his multiple deaths" = "במותיו"] The letter yud (י) makes this word plural, and if it was a singular death then it would be without the yud: "במותו" 🔶Verse 53:9, Just open up these 2 side by side: Isaiah 53:9 (NKJV) | Zephaniah 3:13 (NKJV) Isaiah describes the servant in the same exact words that Zephaniah used for the righteous remnant: "The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness And speak no lies, Nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth" Also in 🔶Isaiah 53:11 "my righteous servant", will justify many "by his KNOWLEDGE" (not by his blood), in the end days Jews will be a priestly nation that will teach Torah to the masses. The same chapter in Zeph 3:19 it identifies them as the afflicted. 🔶Verse 53:10 says that he will see seed and prolong his days. Jesus had no seed and this cannot be applied to a spiritual seed because the Hebrew word for seed used here is 'zera' which was only used for the literal biological lineage as can be found in Genesis 12:7, 15 :2-4, 15:13, 46:6, Exodus 28:43. On the other hand, the Bible uses the word “banim” for a spiritual seed as used in Deuteronomy 14:1. And here is another problem, how does God, who has no beginnings nor an end, "prolong his days"? Does God have a finite existence for which he can prolong his days? 🔶Verse 53:12 says that God will give him his portion among the great. If Jesus is God, how did he have his share with both great and ordinary human beings? God does not need God to give him a share with the great because God is the Almighty and He is not comparable to ordinary humans. Why is Jesus among "the great" if he is the greatest? "and he will divide the spoils with the strong," - does Jesus need spoils?
I might suggest for people wanting to go deeper in knowledge of this chapter 53, to purchase the 2 book set "Let's get Biblical" by the Rabbi, this topic is very well explained with many examples and passages so the reader can "see" the real meaning of what the prophet wrote. If you are really looking for truth, for your own benefit, open the light of the Torah into your life, and it will change your life.
@chillizora I may ask you which version of Bible you are using to claim Isaiah 54 is referring to Gee-zeus? Or could you please be more specific with pointing out the verses where you get this assumption. Thank you
@ i know noone calle gezeus. But yeshua. I said isaiha 54 describes clearly the spiritual seed of the happenings of isiah 53 A barren woman not born never labored. Spiritual seed The desolate woman are the gentiles Who became so much more abundand than the original married israel to yawhe Etc etc Her shameful youth is the pagan time But now we have 2 billion christians who are spiritual jews The whole chapter describes gods people amongst the gentiles in the past 2000 years
@ the biggest problem you jews have is that you dont regard atonement for sin by blood enough It is a huge huge deal to god To provide himself a sacrifice as described in genesis 22 by his only son to bless All nations is something you jews dont value. Same the prophesy of daniel in 9/24-26 The anointed one will be cut of and make an end to sin You dont value this need, the emergency of sin atonement You look for a massive jewish kingdom God needs salvation for sin to save your soul by blood There is biblically no other way. Christians accept Gods sacrifice on their behalf This is the new covenant of jeremiah 31:31 Two very different focuses From the first humans till last in the tanakh they sacrificed blood Gods way are not our way If the jews wd understand what a tremendous gift god gave us by ending the burden of sin You wd start crying Bc the wages of sin is death God cares only for soul atonement in this horrible place. And he said its only possible by blood. The Pharisees were the only sect who said its not necessary anymore. No levite no temple priest said this ever.
@chillizora please don't get offended, but I think you are confused and uniformed, when I asked you to tell me the specific verse where it says this passage is talking about Gee-zeus, your answer is vague, I can't claim I am a Levi or a priest of the lineage of Aharon only because I "feel" it or I wish it, I could not be allowed in the temple to perform priestly duties only delegated to real priests. Your assertion is just a wishing though, perhaps just your own fantasy or belief.
Shalom Rabbi, i'm an Ebionite from France. And indeed, no one interpreted Isaiah 53 as a messianic prophecy in Second Temple Judaism. It's only the author of Acts (8:27-40) who gives it this meaning.

Up until Christ came, the Jewish sages and rabbis roundly agreed that Isaiah 53 was a prophecy about the Messiah. But once the Christian Gospel started to spread, this chapter in Isaiah began to cause problems within Judaism because of its overt resemblance to the life and work of Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah
Rudy's inclusive vision contradicts Maimonides, Avodat Kochavim 10:6: "Even a temporary resident or a merchant who travels from place to place should not be allowed to pass through our land until he accepts the seven universal laws commanded to Noah and his descendants, as [Exodus 23:33] states: "They shall not dwell in your land" - i.e., even temporarily."
Despised And Rejected Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from He was despised, and we didn’t value Him. Isaiah’s Prophecies Fulfilled John 12:37-38 Even though He had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in Him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet, who said: Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Bearing Our Sins And Suffering Isaiah 53:4-5 Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds. Isaiah's Prophecies Fulfilled Matthew 8:17 17 so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.
Yes, Jewish rabbis and sages believed that Isaiah 53 was a prophecy about the Messiah until the spread of Christianity. Explanation Isaiah 53 is a chapter in the Bible that describes a servant who is anointed by God and carries the sins of others. Before the spread of Christianity, rabbis would read Isaiah 53 in synagogues. The chapter was a source of controversy because it resembled the life of Jesus. Rabbis eventually removed Isaiah 53 from synagogue readings because it caused confusion
Rabbi, I'm a Muslim and I debate with Christians and I have noticed in the 10th verse of Isaiah 53. "He will see his offsprings and prolong his life. " Jesus never married than how can the chapter talks about him? I countered Christian with this verse. But they were saying it's spiritual offsprings. 😂

Romans 3:21-26. , by bearing our iniquities. Praise the Lord.
@@julienielsen3746 there's another problem with saying it is Jesus. Christians claim Jesus was sinless. How can Isaiah 53:10 be about someone sinless? "Yet it pleased the LORD to crush him by disease; to see if HIS soul would OFFER ITSELF IN RESTITUTION, that he might see his seed, prolong his days..." basically to see if he accepts the "punishment" and change his ways. this isn't about someone sinless. Another problem with this is that when u are claiming God himself made the sacrifice of something pure with no blemish (Jesus), u are inevitably claiming God is the sinner since He is the one making the sacrifice.
@@TW-hc9jl Jesus gave Himself willingly. Yes. He was sinless. He accepted the punishment for our sins and the sin of Adam in us( He took all our sin upon Himself.). And at the same time He took all our sickens and disease upon His body on the cross. Read Isaiah 53:4-9 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Man is destined to be a mortal in sorrow, but a blessed God will come down and preach. His death will send rest and comfort to all who despair. Genesis 5:28-6:7 Review of the genealogy of Adam to Noah: Adam means “man” Seth means “appointed” Enosh means “mortal, frail, miserable” from root anash “to be incurable” Kenan means “sorrow, dirge” Mahalalel means “blessed God” from “mahalal” for “blessed” and “el” for “God” Jared means “shall come down” Enoch means “commencement, teaching” Methusaleh means “his death shall bring” from “muth” for “death”; “shalach” for “bring or send forth” Lamech means “despairing” (similar our word lament or lamentation) Noah means “comfort or rest” In order the first ten generations of first born sons makes the following statement of a promise and the gospel message: YESHUA is HAMASHIACH
It is easy to see why agnosticism and even atheism flourish in this world. Many religions but even the big 3 Judaism, Christianity, Islam use the written scripture to support doctrine. But here's the rub; It is interpreted in many different ways by the teachers as well as the students. Christianity has scripture but writings of early church leaders strongly shaped the interpretations of the written word. Same with Judaism. We have Tenach, but we also have oral Torah, Rabbinical literature and so forth. Our Muslim brothers share the same fate as Imams of different schools "correctly" interpret the scriptures and none of them agree. I had an agnostic History professor in college and we discussed, religions and philosophy. He maintained all of these holy writings were from men and not from a Supreme Being. He said to me "If a being of this magnificence ever wrote or caused to be written a book, then there would only be one such document; The Book of G~d. It would be dominant everywhere in the world with no predecessors or parallels or alternatives in any language, because mere human authors couldn’t possibly compete with it. And you wouldn’t need faith to believe it, because it would be consistent with all natural and scientific evidence and demonstrably true, revealing profound morality and wisdom far beyond contemporary human capacity. It would invariably inspire a unity of common belief for every reader. If G~d wrote it, we could expect no less. But what we see instead is the very opposite of that." The more I study the Scriptures, and observe the endless arguments over what is true and correct and what is not, the more his words haunt me. Shalom
God specifically told us to LISTEN to what the Orthodox Rabbis teach in Deut. 17:8-11. He DIDN'T tell us to listen to Christianity, or ANY other religion!
I know I’m going somewhat of topic here but, how can Christian’s then sat that Jesus is God but in the flesh, if they say Isaiah 53 is referring to Jesus as being the servant. So that means that Christian’s are calling Hashem a servant.
A servant role is demonstrated. He washed the feet of his disciples. And if you believe his life was given as a payment for the sins of humanity….then the term servant fits.
"LAMO" can be either singular or plural. For example, it is singular in Isaiah 44:15, ". . . He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down before it [LAMO, here is singular]." Even if it is plural, the translation could be, ""For the transgression of my people he was stricken FOR THEM." In the Greek Septuagint, which was translated by Hebrew scholars 300 years before Jesus, translated LAMO as having an extra Tav at the end (LAMAVET), so they translated it as "He was led to death". Jewish scholars interpreted Isaiah 53 as referring to the Messiah, up until Rabbi Rashi in 1050 AD, so interpreting the Suffering Servant as Israel is only a modern misinterpretation, by those farthest removed from the original source.
Isaiah 53 is the most common, Isaiah 7:24 is second, third is usually Psalms 22 or 110 despite the fact that nothing in Psalms is prophecy. I’m amazed every time Christians claim Jesus is the servant, but also a king (messiah). Servant = King according to Christianity. Isaiah 49:8 “I created you and anointed you a COVENANT PROPLE.” Not only was Jesus not a “covenant people”… but it says the servant is created by god. If Jesus is the servant, then Jesus was created by god, ergo not eternal, ergo not G-d. When a Christian ckaims Jesus is messiah or the servant, they’re actually saying he isn’t G-d… when they say Jesus is G-d , they’re saying he wasn’t messiah or the servant. Isaiah 53:10…when did Jesus have offspring and long life?

I’m curious about Isaiah 61. My mother’s pastor told children that everyone knew that when Jesus read the scripture from the scroll, that he was the Messish 😢
It seems to me in the comments that everyone here is living in an echo chamber. You only have to read the text in Hebrew. It’s convenient that the Rabbi picks and chooses his words from the Hebrew and English Isaiah 52.15 says that he startled many nations the word for startled means to spit or splatter. Every other use of this word in the Tanak is used for expiration or splattering blood which would confer the sacrifice Messiah made for the nations and Israel is a nation and they are part of the nations of the world so he died for the world. Just read the text in Hebrew verse by verse from the end of 52 to the end of 53 the message is clear. It would be undeniable if the Rabbi did this but I’m yet to hear of it.
That's a stretch also. And I'm a Christian. But we believe what we were told to believe, we don't really got to this conclusion by ourselves. Let's be honest.
Isaiah is the prophet who introduces us to the conception of the Messiah, born of a virgin. The HE of Isaiah 53. The suffering servant is all over the Tenach Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Jesus never pointed to Isaiah 53, but He did declare to religious leaders saying, "You search Scripture (the entire Tanach), thinking that in them you have eternal life, but they point to Me."

One of the significant indication in the Torah/Tanak which Christians do not comprehend is that Israel unlike other nations is written always in singular form in the Hebrew scriptures, never will you see it in plural. Meaning Israel was always known as a son/servant of the Creator through Yaqob. In Isaiah 53, it's no difference. Christians also need to know by now, instructions clearly layed out in Deuteronomy 13:1-18 and 30:11-29, then measure against the religion, where were the new testament manuscripts found (in Mistrayim), in what text or language (Greek). Then ask yourself, should I make the Word of Aba, who gave His TORAH directly to a nation personally as my standard, or should I make the scriptures from collection of books written to single people as personal letters, written in greek and found in Mitsrayim (Egypt) as my standard?? These are serious questions that need to asked or it be too late.

Joseph became 2nd in power and his Egyptian name Zepaneph Panea meant Yeshua/Jesus. His brothers, The Jews, didn't recognize him. Joseph saved everyone from death during the 7 year famine. Joseph married a gentile bride representing the Christian church. Isaac carried the wood up Golgotha. Hashem said He Himself would provide the lamb. Etc. etc. etc.

Christians speak of dual prophecies often. It seems like they might be on to something. I believe Israel is the servant, but I also believe this is an introduction to a specific servant. However, I full heartedly do not believe it has anything to do with Christian theology, considering the servant has his days prolonged and has children in Isaiah 53. That seems simple and obvious to me. Thank you! God bless!
You contradicted yourself by saying Isaiah 53 is about Israel and then said it’s a messianic passage?? Matthew 23:24-26 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Are you saying that " He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth." Is about the Nation? So why were the people dispersed if they had done no wrong and were suffering for the gentile nations? God used the gentile nations to Judge them so I dont think your reasoning follows. Also, was Jeramiah and Isaiah not telling the truth that God was Judging the people for their constant rebellion? Isaiah 11 speaks of The Root of Jesse, HE will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.? It seems the Rallying from the nations and from the remnant of Israel will be to the Righteous one not to the Nation. I think where this is going is Philippians 2:10-11 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Just some thoughts.

The word for "preciseness" is precision.
Here are some key citations:
Talmudic References to Isaiah 53 as Messianic:
Sanhedrin 98b
The Talmud discusses the name of the Messiah and calls him “The Leper Scholar” (or “The Leper of the House of Rabbi”), referencing Isaiah 53:4:
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”
This indicates that the suffering servant of Isaiah 53 was understood by the rabbis as the Messiah, who bears the afflictions of Israel.
Sanhedrin 93b
Discusses a righteous Messiah who suffers for the sins of others. It references Isaiah 53:5:
“And the Lord laid upon him the iniquity of us all.”
This passage affirms that the Messiah suffers vicariously for Israel’s sins.
Pesikta Rabbati 36 (Midrashic Text, but cited in Talmudic discourse)
Describes how the Messiah endures sufferings for Israel’s sake and refers to Isaiah 53:5:
“He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities.”
The Messiah voluntarily accepts suffering to atone for Israel’s sins.
Yalkut Shimoni on Isaiah 52:13-53:12 (Rabbinic Commentary)
Describes how the Messiah suffers and is rejected, quoting Isaiah 53.
“This is the King Messiah, who is destined to be exalted and lifted up.”
It applies Isaiah 53 directly to the Messiah and his eventual exaltation.
Midrash Tanhuma (Rabbinic Midrash, but used alongside Talmudic sources)
Refers to the sufferings of the Messiah in connection with Isaiah 53:
“The Messiah bears the sins of Israel and suffers on their behalf.”
These references indicate that many early Jewish sources acknowledged Isaiah 53 as a prophecy about the suffering Messiah.
@@Yerimiyahu That's nice, but what does Isaiah say? In the previous chapters Isaiah says that the suffering servant is Israel, not Yoschge. We should go with that rather than your interpretation of what you think the Rabbis are saying in the Midrash and the Talmud.

The *pervasive Talmudic-Midrashic-Zoharic interpretation* is that the subject of Isaiah 53 is *the messiah.*
The opinion that it is about the nation of israel IS THE MINORITY VIEW.
@@D-Trezin Exodus 4:22, HaShem categorically states that yhe nation of Israel is His firstborn son. He cannot have another firstborn. Are you disagreeing with Him?
And absolutely beautiful explanation, Rabbi.

Jesus loves you....
@willmad3121
Then why isn't that doctrine widely accepted by Christians?

You need to remember this. In Isaiah 43:10 it says, "You are my servant." But. This is both in the plural and in the singular. Because the TORAH was originally written without punctuation. The punctuation was added by the sages from the tradition memory that was passed down orally from generation to generation.
The Christian Bible fixes meanings according to what it wants. Even if technically this may be true, but because of the Christian fixation, the entire deep meaning of every word in the Torah and the prophets dissolves.

Regarding the nation of Israel being HaShem's son, in Exodus 4:22, HaShem says categorically "... My son, My firstborn is ISRAEL".
Israel is constantly referred to in singular pronoun throughout the Bible, and even in the New Testament, Mary refers to Israel as a singular servant of God in Luke 1:54.
Why do christians try to interpret the torah from the lens of the new testament? That's like interpreting the new testament from the lens of the book of mormon. 😂😂😂

These references indicate that many early Jewish sources acknowledged Isaiah 53 as a prophecy about the suffering Messiah.
Why did the pharisee interpret the thora from the event of destruction of the temple and started to cancel and invent lots of rituals and turned the remnant of israel into rabbinic judaism
Talking about logic here
The only reason is greed and ego
@chillizora lol you high
The author intended the suffering servant to be Israel / the Righteous Remnant.
Linguistic context:
🔷Isaiah 54:11 "oh, afflicted one" (the afflicted one is Israel)
🔷Isaiah 60:14 "all who DESPISED you AFFLICTED you (Israel)"
🔷Zephaniah 3:19 "all who afflicted you." (the righteous remnant, they will tell no lies and do no wrong)
🔷Psalm 44:24 "our affliction" (the righteous remnant, innocent sheep led to the slaughter)
The same root word 'afflicted' is used in different forms.
🔶Isaiah 53:4 [וּמְעֻנֶּֽה] "and afflicted."
🔶Isaiah 53:7 [נַעֲנֶה֮] "afflicted,"
🔷Isaiah 54:11 [עֲנִיָּ֥ה] “O afflicted city,"
🔷Isaiah 60:14 [מְעַנַּ֔יִךְ] "of your afflictors"
🔷Zeph 3:19 [מְעַנַּ֖יִךְ] "all who afflicted you"
🔷Psalm 44:24 [עׇנְיֵ֣נוּ] "our affliction"
🔶Verse 53:2 "He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground."
In Isaiah 60:21-22 the author clearly confirms that the shoot God planted is referring to the people of Israel, even using plural "They are the shoot I have planted ... the smallest a mighty nation.". (This chapter also identifies them as the afflicted one 60:14)
See also: Ezekiel 19:13, Hosea 14:6-7, Amos 9:15.
Google Translate is very faulty but here is an example that showcases this:
["at his death" = "במותו"] ["at his multiple deaths" = "במותיו"]
The letter yud (י) makes this word plural, and if it was a singular death then it would be without the yud: "במותו"
🔶Verse 53:9, Just open up these 2 side by side: Isaiah 53:9 (NKJV) | Zephaniah 3:13 (NKJV)
Isaiah describes the servant in the same exact words that Zephaniah used for the righteous remnant: "The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness And speak no lies, Nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth"
Also in 🔶Isaiah 53:11 "my righteous servant", will justify many "by his KNOWLEDGE" (not by his blood), in the end days Jews will be a priestly nation that will teach Torah to the masses.
I recommend you read isiah 54 bc that entire chapter refers to the seed of jesus = the gentile Church
@chillizora I may ask you which version of Bible you are using to claim Isaiah 54 is referring to Gee-zeus? Or could you please be more specific with pointing out the verses where you get this assumption. Thank you

Etc etc
Her shameful youth is the pagan time
But now we have 2 billion christians who are spiritual jews
The whole chapter describes gods people amongst the gentiles in the past 2000 years
@ the biggest problem you jews have is that you dont regard atonement for sin by blood enough
It is a huge huge deal to god
To provide himself a sacrifice as described in genesis 22 by his only son to bless All nations is something you jews dont value. Same the prophesy of daniel in 9/24-26
The anointed one will be cut of and make an end to sin
You dont value this need, the emergency of sin atonement
You look for a massive jewish kingdom
God needs salvation for sin to save your soul by blood
There is biblically no other way.
Christians accept Gods sacrifice on their behalf
This is the new covenant of jeremiah 31:31
Two very different focuses
From the first humans till last in the tanakh they sacrificed blood
Gods way are not our way
If the jews wd understand what a tremendous gift god gave us by ending the burden of sin
You wd start crying
Bc the wages of sin is death
God cares only for soul atonement in this horrible place.

Yes, Jewish rabbis and sages believed that Isaiah 53 was a prophecy about the Messiah until the spread of Christianity.
Explanation
Isaiah 53 is a chapter in the Bible that describes a servant who is anointed by God and carries the sins of others.
Before the spread of Christianity, rabbis would read Isaiah 53 in synagogues.
The chapter was a source of controversy because it resembled the life of Jesus.
Rabbis eventually removed Isaiah 53 from synagogue readings because it caused confusion

@@julienielsen3746 there's another problem with saying it is Jesus. Christians claim Jesus was sinless. How can Isaiah 53:10 be about someone sinless? Shalom

Hashem
I know I’m going somewhat of topic here but, how can Christian’s then sat that Jesus is God but in the flesh, if they say Isaiah 53 is referring to Jesus as being the servant. So that means that Christian’s are calling Hashem a servant.
A servant role is demonstrated. He washed the feet of his disciples. And if you believe his life was given as a payment for the sins of humanity….then the term servant fits.
@ but that doesn’t solve the issue of Jesus being called God whilst at the same time being called a servant.

Not only was Jesus not a “covenant people”… but it says the servant is created by god.
See Isaiah 9:6. Everlasting Father one of His titles for a child /son that was given.
@ Isaiah 9:6 says no such thing…

Isaiah 9:6 says, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace".
@ I love watching Christians discovering their Bible is completely mistranslated and fraudulent.
Tell me how Isaiah 7:14 is about Jesus. 😂
@ You’re quoting Isaiah 9:5… your Bible is corrupted/mistranslated, it’s worthless.
They don’t even understand the Hebrew language but they say to know more than our sages 🤨
In scripture, obd is mentioned 31 times in the book of Isaiah. It refers to "my servant" Isaiah naked and barefoot, Eliakim son of Hilkiah, David, Jacob [tribes, seed], Israel - Yeshurun, and in 65:9 Judah is to tenant mountain.
Why can't I find your debates with Christians on any other channel? If needs be, I will debate you
Bc he doesnt want to be caught in his lies., he has debated many but doesnt allow it to be aired. He likes to keep his audience dumb and fooled

So Jesus said to the Jews who believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Many are called but few are chosen. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."
And I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel. the angels were told not to harm the earth until the servants of God-the 144,000-had been sealed.
"Who ever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father."
(Yeshua Ha nazri Vu melech Ha yehudim)
_Many Jewish people were called to establish the country of Israel and there are about seven million people in Israel recently but only few are chosen to follow Rabbi Yeshua Ha nazri Vu melech Ha yehudim as Messianic Jews somehow they are part of the 144000 people who are sealed._
I’m curious about Isaiah 61. My mother’s pastor told children that everyone knew that when Jesus read the scripture from the scroll, that he was the Messish 😢
I just saw a missionary video about this
It seems to me in the comments that everyone here is living in an echo chamber.
Let's be honest.
just remind xtians that human sacrifice is unacceptable. Also, this is a VERY good explanation of is 53.
Isaiah is the prophet who introduces us to the conception of the Messiah, born of a virgin. The HE of Isaiah 53. The suffering servant is all over the Tenach
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (GOD IS WITH US)
Look up the following;
Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, 50:6
Zach 11:12-13, 13:6
Psalm 22:16-18
Micah 5:1-2

Rabbi Tovia, i had a query whether it is ok to conduct a wedding on a sabbath or atttend a wedding on a sabbath if you are a noahide
Jesus never pointed to Isaiah 53, but He did declare to religious leaders saying, "You search Scripture (the entire Tanach), thinking that in them you have eternal life, but they point to Me."
Wow only 2:36 in and the Christian just ended the Trinity. If that is the case let’s try….. • v. 2 keep all his decrees and his commands
• v. 4 Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one.
• v. 10 into the land that he swore to your fathers
• v. 13 him shall you serve… by his name
• v. 15 he will destroy
• v. 17 diligently keep… his decrees, and his statutes as he has commanded you.
• v. 23 he brought us out from there to give us the land that he had promised
• v. 25 If we observe… as he has commanded
..,.,,,Deuteronomy 6 he him and his. But one must have their cake and eat it too. Or it all falls down.

The servant of God is alive. He is always also he, not only they. The God adress him Jacob the Israel, not the people of Israel and he is alive. The people of Israel is the symbol of the servant of God
thank you rabbi
can you share Isaiah chapter 53 for me too.?
is say same in holy Bible
or Different.?
You can have a discussion by jewish Christian or messianic jews so be it is the name of the channel who explain to you 53 and not this nonesense of him
One of the significant indication in the Torah/Tanak which Christians do not comprehend is that Israel unlike other nations is written always in singular form in the Hebrew scriptures, never will you see it in plural.
Harav tovia singer you have to hear his interview on living lechaim where he says the whole story where he was taken prisoner and he had an argument with his guard and he mentions that he remember something that you harav tovia singer thought
I'm a completed Jew and realized that everything in the Tenakh points to Yeshua. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers & sold for silver, was falsely accused, beaten thrown in prison, his father Jacob/Israel thought Joseph dead but he was alive. Etc. etc. etc.

Isaiah 52
New International Version
52 Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendor,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.
3 For this is what the Lord says:
“You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.”
4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.
“For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,[a]”
declares the Lord.
“And all day long
my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
Yes, it is I.”
7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,

Rabbi-would you consider watching your videos as learning Divrei Torah? Like, is it a mitzvah to learn what you teach to help Jews defend Judaism?
Most religious Jews don't have any interest in knowing what Christians think Jews should believe about the Bible and have no interest or need to defend Judaism.
The masses will themselves arise and verify that words and his teachings can stand when your prophet tells you his name is Jesus you still do not believe 😂 God has harden your heart I feel so sorry and pray the holy one comes to soften it so the tears can run down your cheeks and you can feel your soul leap when you hear his story and know our God is one

A book is a book, but The Book, delicious.
Thank you! God bless!
Jeremiah 30:17
Whoever or whatever Isaiah 53 is referring to, it's clear that he is talking about someone in the past. It couldn't possibly be about Jesus.
Jesus work as suffering servant is over. In the past. His return per Zechariah 12-14 will be totally different
There are many servants in the Bible, Nebuchadnezzar was Gods servant also. Isaiah 53 is about an individual, not a nation.
You contradicted yourself by saying Isaiah 53 is about Israel and then said it’s a messianic passage??
Matthew 23:24-26
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Am i misinformed or did the blood sacrifice discontinue after the destruction of the 2nd temple?
Gentiles are not, and never have been, obligated to offer sacrifices.
Church Father Origen didn’t even agree that Isaiah 53 is talking about yoshke
Are you saying that " He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth." Is about the Nation? So why were the people dispersed if they had done no wrong and were suffering for the gentile nations? God used the gentile nations to Judge them so I dont think your reasoning follows. Also, was Jeramiah and Isaiah not telling the truth that God was Judging the people for their constant rebellion? Isaiah 11 speaks of The Root of Jesse, HE will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.? It seems the Rallying from the nations and from the remnant of Israel will be to the Righteous one not to the Nation. I think where this is going is Philippians 2:10-11
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Just some thoughts.
