So just received the flip 4 and right a way I'm falling in love with this phone, the interface and all is so sleek. And if you're a person who likes your phone to have some personality, this phone is it !! So many customizations !! I'm glad I switched and look forwards to more months to come with this phone 😊😊
Yep, this flip vs. My wife's iPhone 11 (also color purple) is quite the difference. If you're after some uniqueness then this is definitely the one to go with lol
I traded in my iPhone 11 for the Flip 3 last year. Same thing. iPhone was just so boring. The only thing about the Flip 3 was camera always had shutter lag and some of the slow mo video I've taken has ended up choppy and not smooth. Other than the camera, the battery life is obviously not as good, but that's where the drawbacks end. OLED 120hz screen is so much better that I can't even look at 60hz stuff without seeing stutter.
I made the change to flip 3 last year after 13 years with apple. I’m still getting used to Samsung but it’s a lot better and less restriction. I’ve just bought the flip 4 coming next week.
Have been on the fence for a while because I wanted the Flip 3 but decided to skip and wait what 4 had to offer. I think this review really convinced me. Can't pre-order now but will definitely take the plunge on this one once I can afford it. Thanks for a clear and detailed review!

Affordability. I use AT&T. They, and likely others, have a great ongoing promo. You get the Flip 4, case, cord, upgrade to 256 GB for free when trading in any condition S-series Samsung. As explained to me, if paying for the phone on your phone biil, the payment amount will be offset by an equal credit to your bill for the purchase price. 3-year contract. I ordered a 20.00 junker S7 on eBay for my trade-in. Heck of a deal imo. Was told the phone would arrive ate the store on 26 Aug.
are cameras actually good ? ive seen some videos which say the camera are a bit grainy , does that actually happen and also like if I take a pic through insta or snap how would it fare in comparision ?
I am patiently (?) waiting for my 4 to arrive next week. I currently have the 3 and love it. I appreciated this video so I can actually see what differences to expect. The only issue I've had with my 3 is that the factory installed screen protector started to crack along the fold which, within about 3 weeks, cracked the length of the fold. This made my phone pretty much inoperable and the whole screen had to be replaced. I know I am only one of many who experienced this and truly hope this has been improved upon in the 4. I had the same issue and sadly lost confidence so I choose to get a refund from Samsung and replaced my beloved flip3 with a s22+. I have the same hope as you but I'll probably wait for flip5 to try a foldable phone again

I'm definitely impressed by this phone, upgraded from the S20+ to this one. Battery lasts me all day (S20+ couldn't) camera's and the camera software near blew me away. I love this little piece of tech
Heyy thinking about getting this phone, if its not a bother do you mind telling me how often do you use your phone, like does it work a full day on normal usage or minimal usage, and also are the cameras actually good ? as I've heard they are grainy and the front cam just sucks, i need a inside review of someone else who used the phone as well haha
Great review! Just put in my preorder for a blue one. Had a Note 20 Ultra for 2 years, very happy with the phone but found I never really needed a heavy and powerful phone. I don't process files, do serious photography or play games on the phone, so the portability is definetely the main driver for the switch.
Great review! I just pre-ordered mine today. I get the camera gripe but I think the portability and design might help me in not having to stare at my phone and get sucked into an app as much as conventional smart phones now a days. It's an appealing factor I think to consider.
Congrats on the pre order! I understand the wellness consideration but when I got my first flip I was so glued to it I ended up using it more than any other phone because of how fun it was. I know I might be more hooked on phones since I review them for videos but just my 2 cents lol I hope it achieves that for you!
The way you flip it open and closed is super important and makes the phone look much more appealing. Good review! For battery life, TechDroider did a battery drain test and got 9 hours of screen time out of it. He didn't go through very many apps though so maybe that's why?
Thanks Devin! I got another comment about them getting 9 hours. Im sure if I ran youtube on this with low brightness, low volume, and with battery saving settings turned on, location settings off etc etc then yeah maybe 9 hours. But I just use the phone normally as I do any other device and that's what my results are based on. Usually 2-3 hours of youtube, and a few hours of a mix of other apps like games, social media, texting, emails, a call or 2, and I like my brightness settings at 50-100% hope this helps.

When we constantly use a device the sot significantly increases. When I have free time and constantly used my s21 I got around 6h 30 m to 7h 30m sot. But using it as a daily driver I used to get 3h 30 m to 4h 30m sot
So I’m an Apple user, and I never thought I would say this but omg, I actually want this phone. That color purple looks amazing and I love the design so much!! I don’t like bulky and big phones, so being able to compact it is amazing.

But there was a lot of issues with it that I encountered. #1, the phone isn't very wide, so whenever I watched TH-cam shorts, the video was so zoomed in that the sides of the video got cut off. #2, some apps function differently on Android which irked me quite a bit. #3, I just couldn't get used to the interface. The interface of iOS is very simple and really nice plus I was more used to it. #4, I just really missed using iMessage, Airdrop, and Facetime. It's a lot more convenient to use since most of my family and friends use Apple. Because of these problems, I ended up reselling the flip and got the 14 Pro. I'm really happy with the 14 Pro, but I do miss flipping my flip 4! It was a very cute phone. I do have to admit Samsung is very innovative, and Android has so many cool features that I'll miss! Sorry for the long comment ahaha. I really thought I would love the flip 4, so I feel guilty that I ended up not liking it as much 😅😅

I pre-ordered the Flip 4 Aug 11, and this video definitely added to the expectation. I'm jumping down from a Note 10+ because I spend so much time developing on my computer that I'm all good with trading the larger format and pen for the flip. Hi mate, I'm in a similar boat, except with photography, the camera doesn't worry me as much as before as I have a decent canon which I take everywhere, I get mine Monday, have you got yours?, the idea of 00's nostalgia when taking a call was the biggest selling point for me haha.
Flip 3 user here. The battery size increase and the reportedly more efficient chip made the upgrade worth for me. Seems to work out so far. Oh and faster charging. This is also nice.
@@monsta777 I did, actually I think I'll just remove it because basically where I live you have to send your phone to samsung to get the screen protector replaced. I can't just stay without my phone for a week or so lol
@@monsta777 I did. I dont have any social media aside from TH-cam so I dont even open my phone that often during the day. But after about 5 months, my screen protector developed a crack. Now 7 months later its almost all the way across the fold. I still ordered the new zFlip4 though!

This flip 4 phone is beautiful I got my Bora Purple I live it I've been wanting the phone and I got it people got some comments on it that it's not that great everyone haves a opinion mines is I Don care what others say it's all about what a person wants and gets. I'm happy with my phone that's all that matters
Seeing this video made more excited to get mine. I love my s21 ultra but the portability of the flip 4 is what I need now especially at work. I usually use my phone on power saving mode with adaptive brightness and turning off notifications I dont need so the battery wont be a problem either. Thank you for the video! I prefer my S21 Ultra cause I get more than 10 hours and a half hours of sot and that by watching TH-cam all the time. 6 or 7 hours of sot suck for me.
@@garbageday587 Yeah the sot is a downgrade compared to the s21 ultra. Mine can last a day and a half with my everyday use. But since I don’t really watch on my phone (just maybe an hour or two during lunch breaks or during commute), and rarely play games on it, I'll close one eye for the flip 4 😅.
If they can get the price down, repairs at a reasonable price, make it have worldwide bands and guarantee 3 software updates and 5 years of security updates then I think it would really take off.
There’s a specific reason I decided to preorder this phone. I keep an iPhone and an Android phone to have both worlds. More often than not, my Android phone is usually a Samsung phone. To keep a long story short, I own the iPhone 13 Mini for it’s small size and pocketability. I’m keeping it lomg term because it was a refinement of the iPhone 12 Mini, which I would’ve kept if not for it’s inadequate battery life. The iPhone 13 Mini fixes that and gets me through the day easy, even when frequently listening to music off its speakers. Of course, seeing as the Mini line is being discontinued after this, it’ll need to be enough for me anyway. And then there’s the Z Flip 3. I took the dive in and traded a previous Android phone towards it so I could afford it. The phone was great, owing to having a width that didn’t stretch my hand and a nice big screen for big screen stuff, all while still being small and pocketable when folded up. But like it was with the iPhone 12 Mini, the battery life was barely enough to get me through a day, even without playing music off it. So here I am, trading it in for the Z Flip 4 and paying only $99 for it. If the battery life is as much improved as the iPhone 13 Mini’s was, then I’ll be holding onto this one for a long time. Of course, with the generous trade-in offers that Samsung provides, which Apple doesn’t, I’m open to upgrading to the next iteration each year, so long as those upgrades or even refinements are notable enough. And something tells me the Z Flip 5 will end up having more distinct upgrades. But I digress. Bottom line is, the Z Flip is the sweet spot for me. As to why I wouldn’t just go for something like Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra? There’s no denying that it’s the highest end phone Samsung has to offer. But one thing people need to carefully consider is just what it is they want a smartphone for. The only reason you would get the S22 Ultra is if you’re needing to take tons of detailed pictures both near and far, have large hands and have a hankering for using the S Pen a lot. But if you find yourself practicing forgetting that S Pen is there, take some pictures here and there and prefer a phone you can handle more easily, then chances are that you’re a more casual phone user and the S22 Ultra would be overkill. As such, something like the Z Flip 4 should be plenty of phone for most. Not much point in paying hundreds more for a phone, where you’ll hardly actually use some of its core features.
I just got a flip 4, I agree with your take on the phone as a whole, except for the battery life. I am 1 week in and getting just over 4 hours of screen it, once I almost got 5 hours. Other than that, I love this phone. Would recommend, thanks for the vid.

I left my iPhone 13 midnight & series 7 45mm graphite on accident I say accident is because I had 0 plans getting this phone in fact I wasn't really aware of its existence to be honest. I just wanted a new phone an this was presented at 1st hesitant to purchase but then i was like what the heck it'll be a nice break from apple 4th day with the phone I love it I must admit. I got apple on the shelf. The design of the flip how low key it is an able to pocket just about everywhere on you. The comfort level for one hand use is just undefeated imo as well as the portability.
God forbid you drop it, that's my only complaint. I dropped mines and it would not open, then it got a black line across the crease. Luckily I had, have insurance so it's covered but if you know you drop your phone often, either don't go with this one or get one with the ring/bracelet. My carrier is t-mobile and when I bought it in they were not shocked as the first thing she said when I told her what happened was "we got another one" the girl the checked me out coming over and saying "really that's the 3rd/4th one today." These phones are not ment to be dropped, even if you go the extra mile to get the hinge protection cases. Just putting this out there, over all I absolutely love this idea!
Great video.. Those video samples were great. I just did the trade in with my S22.. ~360'ish for the flip4 with the buds pro headphones.. seems like a no brainer. I liked my S22 but the battery life was a dealbreaker.. I've never had a phone that's died on me before the end of the day so many times. Plus my S22 was prone to overheating and shutting off. Sounds like the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 might solve my battery and overheating woes. Plus the reason I stuck with the S22 and Pixel 5 before that was because I like the compact size so the Flip should be right up my alley.
I'm still using the flip 1st generation and I love this phone the new upgrades are cool but not necessarily a selling point when my 1 works perfectly still
I just got the fold 4 yesterday, but I'm not entirely sure if I like it all that much... I'm gonna give it a few more days cause I have 2 weeks to return it but if I do return it I'm definitely getting a flip4, it's starting to look so much more appealing to me

Great review! I'm currently on a S21 Ultra and it's alright. Since the Flip 3 has been out I've been wanting to move to it. Now that my phone is paid off, tmobile was offering for me to trade it in and get the Flip 4 at no cost for it (except taxes) so it was a no-brainer for me
I got the flip 4 yesterday. I've been an apple user since the good ol' days of the first iPhone version. I've had it for just a little 24 hours and I love it. I'm not sure I'll go back to Apple any time soon.
Not the cost of the phone that bothers me, it's the fact that my carrier charges twice as much for the 5g service I have to get along with it. Despite the fact that tests show the 5g is no faster, and in fact is often times slower than the 4g.
I preordered mine as well during the release! Aiming for the Bora Purple as it's the color that was always sold out during the release of the 3. The phone not having a telephoto lens actually does not bug me at all since I don't really have much use for it. Same as you the portability of it is the biggest factor why I'm upgrading from an S20. bummer that the Philippines does not offer the memory bump pre-order perk. what we get when we pre-order is a free samsung duo wireless charger and a battery pack. Plus discounts on the other new releases like the buds pro 2 and the watch 5 (which I think I won't be needing because I just bought the watch 4 and buds 2) earlier this year. Slightly regretting because had I known, I would've waited and just got the newest ones with the discounts.
I currently have the original Z flip and love it. I have pre-ordered the Z flip 4 in what they call the bespoke edition with red front blue back and gold edging around the sides. I'm quite excited and can't wait fir it to arrive.
Would love to have the portability this provides and the new tsmc node seems amazing. Just can't do with the inferior cameras compared to 22 ultra. Telephoto, s-pen remote, and just overall quality is too much to give up. But damn battery on 22 ultra sucks and it's a clunker in the pocket :(
I've been thinking of getting one of these foldable phones, and although I think the flip 4 looks like an amazing phone, the fact that it just came out means that the price is going to stay pretty high for a while. I'm sure I'll instead get the flip 3
the flip cracks at the fold because users add screen protection film thus it causes the fold to crack and ink spreads over the screen. my phone cracked at 1yr to the date and the inspector removed the film and sent it away to get fixed for free.
Great video! We just got our Flip 4, and we noticed that it doesn't seem to close tight like Flip 3. There is a little play just as you open it before it hits the tension in the hinge. Did you experience this with your 4 compared to your 3?
I had my s10+ since its release but decided to get the S22 Ultra even tho my s10+ is still usable. I'll get the Z Flip next time since it's very easy to use and the battery is honestly great as per the review
Yo i still own a samsung a8+ since 2018 it's old but doesnt matter it still works. But if I was going to change my phone the flip phone looks fun. Though I just want a thinner more lightweight plus good camera esp at night

Hi mate, I'm in a similar boat, except with photography, the camera doesn't worry me as much as before as I have a decent canon which I take everywhere, I get mine Monday, have you got yours?, the idea of 00's nostalgia when taking a call was the biggest selling point for me haha.

The battery size increase and the reportedly more efficient chip made the upgrade worth for me. Seems to work out so far.

@@monsta777 I did, actually I think I'll just remove it because basically where I live you have to send your phone to samsung to get the screen protector replaced. I can't just stay without my phone for a week or so lol
@@monsta777 I did. I dont have any social media aside from TH-cam so I dont even open my phone that often during the day. But after about 5 months, my screen protector developed a crack. Now 7 months later its almost all the way across the fold. I still ordered the new zFlip4 though!

Pre ordered this and I'm just watching all the review to make sure I'm not gonna regret it. So far I'm very glad I got it.
Pre-order the flip 4 on Thursday, paid only 170$ + taxes with trade-in on my Zflip3 got a 100$ pre launch coupon + all the goodies samsung have been offering, was a little bit skeptical at first since i didn't see a big reason to upgrade, but after watching your video specially with the battery life i'm 100% convinced, i think everyone who has a flip3 should benefit from this offer by samsung their upgrading almost for free !

This flip 4 phone is beautiful I got my Bora Purple I live it I've been wanting the phone and I got it people got some comments on it that it's not that great everyone haves a opinion mines is I Don care what others say it's all about what a person wants and gets. I'm happy with my phone that's all that matters

Seeing this video made more excited to get mine. I love my s21 ultra but the portability of the flip 4 is what I need now especially at work. I usually use my phone on power saving mode with adaptive brightness and turning off notifications I dont need so the battery wont be a problem either. Thank you for the video! I prefer my S21 Ultra cause I get more than 10 hours and a half hours of sot and that by watching TH-cam all the time. 6 or 7 hours of sot suck for me.
@@garbageday587 Yeah the sot is a downgrade compared to the s21 ultra. Mine can last a day and a half with my everyday use. But since I don’t really watch on my phone (just maybe an hour or two during lunch breaks or during commute), and rarely play games on it, I'll close one eye for the flip 4 😅.
the battery improvement alone makes this a very tempting upgrade.
If they can get the price down, repairs at a reasonable price, make it have worldwide bands and guarantee 3 software updates and 5 years of security updates then I think it would really take off.
The trade-in value I got for my S21 on top of the pre ordering deals for the watch/earbuds almost felt like a steal lol.
There’s a specific reason I decided to preorder this phone. I keep an iPhone and an Android phone to have both worlds. More often than not, my Android phone is usually a Samsung phone. To keep a long story short, I own the iPhone 13 Mini for it’s small size and pocketability. I’m keeping it lomg term because it was a refinement of the iPhone 12 Mini, which I would’ve kept if not for it’s inadequate battery life. The iPhone 13 Mini fixes that and gets me through the day easy, even when frequently listening to music off its speakers. Of course, seeing as the Mini line is being discontinued after this, it’ll need to be enough for me anyway.
And then there’s the Z Flip 3. I took the dive in and traded a previous Android phone towards it so I could afford it. The phone was great, owing to having a width that didn’t stretch my hand and a nice big screen for big screen stuff, all while still being small and pocketable when folded up. But like it was with the iPhone 12 Mini, the battery life was barely enough to get me through a day, even without playing music off it. So here I am, trading it in for the Z Flip 4 and paying only $99 for it. If the battery life is as much improved as the iPhone 13 Mini’s was, then I’ll be holding onto this one for a long time.
Of course, with the generous trade-in offers that Samsung provides, which Apple doesn’t, I’m open to upgrading to the next iteration each year, so long as those upgrades or even refinements are notable enough. And something tells me the Z Flip 5 will end up having more distinct upgrades. But I digress. Bottom line is, the Z Flip is the sweet spot for me.
As to why I wouldn’t just go for something like Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra? There’s no denying that it’s the highest end phone Samsung has to offer. But one thing people need to carefully consider is just what it is they want a smartphone for. The only reason you would get the S22 Ultra is if you’re needing to take tons of detailed pictures both near and far, have large hands and have a hankering for using the S Pen a lot. But if you find yourself practicing forgetting that S Pen is there, take some pictures here and there and prefer a phone you can handle more easily, then chances are that you’re a more casual phone user and the S22 Ultra would be overkill. As such, something like the Z Flip 4 should be plenty of phone for most. Not much point in paying hundreds more for a phone, where you’ll hardly actually use some of its core features.
I just got a flip 4, I agree with your take on the phone as a whole, except for the battery life. I am 1 week in and getting just over 4 hours of screen it, once I almost got 5 hours. Other than that, I love this phone. Would recommend, thanks for the vid.

I left my iPhone 13 midnight & series 7 45mm graphite on accident I say accident is because I had 0 plans getting this phone in fact I wasn't really aware of its existence to be honest. I just wanted a new phone an this was presented at 1st hesitant to purchase but then i was like what the heck it'll be a nice break from apple 4th day with the phone I love it I must admit. I got apple on the shelf. The design of the flip how low key it is an able to pocket just about everywhere on you. The comfort level for one hand use is just undefeated imo as well as the portability.

God forbid you drop it, that's my only complaint. I dropped mines and it would not open, then it got a black line across the crease. Luckily I had, have insurance so it's covered but if you know you drop your phone often, either don't go with this one or get one with the ring/bracelet. My carrier is t-mobile and when I bought it in they were not shocked as the first thing she said when I told her what happened was "we got another one" the girl the checked me out coming over and saying "really that's the 3rd/4th one today."
These phones are not ment to be dropped, even if you go the extra mile to get the hinge protection cases. Just putting this out there, over all I absolutely love this idea!
Great video.. Those video samples were great. I just did the trade in with my S22.. ~360'ish for the flip4 with the buds pro headphones.. seems like a no brainer. I liked my S22 but the battery life was a dealbreaker.. I've never had a phone that's died on me before the end of the day so many times. Plus my S22 was prone to overheating and shutting off. Sounds like the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 might solve my battery and overheating woes. Plus the reason I stuck with the S22 and Pixel 5 before that was because I like the compact size so the Flip should be right up my alley.

Great review! I'm currently on a S21 Ultra and it's alright. Since the Flip 3 has been out I've been wanting to move to it. Now that my phone is paid off, tmobile was offering for me to trade it in and get the Flip 4 at no cost for it (except taxes) so it was a no-brainer for me
I got the flip 4 yesterday. I've been an apple user since the good ol' days of the first iPhone version. I've had it for just a little 24 hours and I love it. I'm not sure I'll go back to Apple any time soon.

Not the cost of the phone that bothers me, it's the fact that my carrier charges twice as much for the 5g service I have to get along with it. Despite the fact that tests show the 5g is no faster, and in fact is often times slower than the 4g.

The phone not having a telephoto lens actually does not bug me at all since I don't really have much use for it. Same as you the portability of it is the biggest factor why I'm upgrading from an S20.
bummer that the Philippines does not offer the memory bump pre-order perk. what we get when we pre-order is a free samsung duo wireless charger and a battery pack. Plus discounts on the other new releases like the buds pro 2 and the watch 5 (which I think I won't be needing because I just bought the watch 4 and buds 2) earlier this year. Slightly regretting because had I known, I would've waited and just got the newest ones with the discounts.

Would love to have the portability this provides and the new tsmc node seems amazing. Just can't do with the inferior cameras compared to 22 ultra. Telephoto, s-pen remote, and just overall quality is too much to give up. But damn battery on 22 ultra sucks and it's a clunker in the pocket :(

the flip cracks at the fold because users add screen protection film thus it causes the fold to crack and ink spreads over the screen. my phone cracked at 1yr to the date and the inspector removed the film and sent it away to get fixed for free.
Great video! We just got our Flip 4, and we noticed that it doesn't seem to close tight like Flip 3. There is a little play just as you open it before it hits the tension in the hinge. Did you experience this with your 4 compared to your 3?
