    Why on earth has Styx not been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? 250 million albums sold and so many great hits! Amazing vocals and instrumentals. This band deserves it ...long overdue.

      Seen Styx live a 10 years ago with my teenage son at that time. I pretty much had to drag him to that concert. Luckly they were playing at an amusement park .. Well the concert went on with REO speedwagon. He loved it and as we walked away he turned to me and said. Mom , those old men can rock LOL.. He caught an REO speedwagon drumstick. He still has it now and he is an adult now LOL.. Guess what the next concert at that park was Peter Frampton and he was so happy to go LOL

    Old guy speaking here. I use to think of this music as "My music" from my time. But a classic has enduring quality. So it pleases me to see a young person like you enjoying this. It's not "my music" anymore, it's our music.

    I really liked this album, and this song kind of metaphorically encapsulated the entire album's theme: how they had seemed to achieve their dream of fame and stardom, only to find out it wasn't the terrifically awesome trip they'd expected it to be. This band would know that, only too well, after all the trials they'd gone through - with the producers, with the management, and even with EACH OTHER!

    • @chaynebutler9572
      @chaynebutler9572 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of the few songs that my dad openly stated that he liked as it played on the radio in the early 80's. He's turns 88 on April 14th, 2020 and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Basically just a shout out to my Dad in his twilight years.

    Late 70's early 80's music you can tell was geared to headphones, especially when you get that sound coming and going and seeming to swim around in your head! In the day of walkmans, it helped sell the music! I still love listening to some of that music through headphones as opposed to speakers, although surround sound can do some songs some justice.

    Our HS girls dance class would have a "Jazz Dance" recital each year, and three upper-class girls did an interpretive dance to this song. In blue leotards. I was a freshman working in the sound booth. It was ... educational. I'm basically Sam from Freaks and Geeks. I was class of '84 and so would he have been had the show lasted. This song was four years old when the girls danced to it. It still resonated. Music lasted a lot longer. Movies stayed waaay longer in the theaters too. Star Wars played in some cities for over a year in theaters if I'm not mistaken.

    Yes India... Styx, pernouned Stick's. Is named after a river in Hades.
    This Chicago based band graced us with their presence from 1973 to 1983,. Their first national hit, entitled " Lady" was their claim to fame, catapulting them into the national spotlight.
    My favorite Styx tune came off their last album in 1981.( Rocking The Paradise.) A song entitled
    " Half Penny Two Penny."
    But sometime around November 79, Styx came out with what proved to be one of their greatest hits yet. A love song entitled;
    " Babe"
    " Renegade," was one of their songs you heard in all the dance clubs all through the 80s and 90s.
    Right up there with Led Zeppelin's
    " Trampled Under Foot." And
    Eddie Money, " Two Tickets to Paradise."
    To get more of a feel for their sound that made them famous, I would like to ask you to play the Styx LIVE video. " Lady." LIVE in Los Angeles. March 4th 2006.
